I was never so happy we found this bar! The owner, the bartender and the clientele were the best ever! One guy even bought his home grown vegetables (looked absolutely beautiful) to share with the people at the bar. We had so much fun and enjoyed the beer so much, I couldn't wait to go back to get the last two pints of the Orange Cream Machine. Like many others have said, this is the type of atmosphere a gun shop SHOULD have. Before you jump on me and say, 'Guns & alcohol don't mix...', Here, they do very well. It is called a proprietor that maintains control over those in the place. This was a refreshing experience, and I found what I needed easily. The only drawback might be in the variety of stock that is carried. But what I heard from his Customers is that the owner is highly respected and will work to get in what the Customer needs. 5 stars from me, that's saying something. Take a look at the sign as you wander in, that says a lot. But that doesn't say enough. It doesn't say "I'll take a cold pint of beer and can I take a look at that 9mm". It doesn't say " Good luck froggin" as you slide off the bar stool holding the gig and the PBR you just bought. If the walls could speak they'd tell stories of hunting deer and wild boar, stories of catching your limit or the ones that got away. Talk of politics and fat lips. Surely talk of this younger generation just isn't the same. I like this place, if I was a local they'd know my name. I went in on a Tues at 10:45 am and the guy working the place ignored me. After a few minutes he finally asked me what i need so i tell him I'm looking for a compact handgun he then points at the empty display case and says all the tags are on the shelves. Helpful, right. Lol. So i waited while he eventually opens the safe and puts the inventory out. Now I'm standing right in front of counter and a son as he finishes he locks the display and just walked away. So, i did the same and went elsewhere. After talking to several folks i found this is modus operandi there. Pretty cool corner spot for guns, ammo and beer. They also sell fishing licenses. While I was enjoying my IPA's, Steve was working on what looked like an AR-15 while chatting with us customers. I love that we have such an awesome opportunity and such an awesome country at our core that we can enjoy beer, guns and ammo all in the same store and not lose our minds thinking that this type of environment is "the devil" as Bobby Boucher's mama would say on "The Waterboy" movie. Standard fare for diner food. Nothing done with flair to put them on the map. I just go for breakfast when in the area and need a place to meet for Bfast. Coffee was a poor - flavor disappears after the addition of a couple cream and sugar. Customer service was excellent. They are consistently busy around the time I find myself at their door. This place is somewhat of an oddity. It's the only place I know of in the whole state where you can buy guns and fishing supplies and order a beer at the same time. We walked in on St. Patrick's day and were high-fived as we walked in. That's a first for me. Very friendly crowd! They don't have a huge selection of beers, mainly the standby American beers but they did have Lagunitas on tap, so i'm cool with that. Guns and beer under one roof in California? Must see. So it's evolved from the guns in the sun, booze in the moon place it used to be, but it's still fun. There's a bar with some beers on tap, a few firearms, and some fishing/hunting/arms gear, but everything is a little short. I am sure with how much Californians like to whiiiiiiine away about how evil guns are (seems more then the people that actually do the shooting), so I'm sure most of it was pressure from the state, but it has managed to hang on by the hair of it's chinny chinny chin chin. Walked in, locals checked me out, perused the guns, knives, before grabbing an old edition of "Guns & Ammo" at the bar. Ordered a bud. In the bottle. Oh yeah. Old School. Cost all of $3 or so. Finished it the same time I finished the mag. Ordered another Bud. Read another mag. Done. Nice little buzz by 12 noon on a Saturday and ready to rumble for less than $10. Can't beat that.
