No compassion, no flexibility, no customer service. Just a hard "no," even though the credit was paid for and she was only in town briefly. It was upsetting, embarrassing, and honestly baffling. Isabel did a great job on explaining DHA, color theory and techniques. She also touches on the Fitzpatrick skin scale (skin types1-6) and how everyone can get a spray tan. She also shares stats of skin cancer and some marketing strategies. I personally have strategically spray tan over 10 people for free. Got content and now use it to promote my business. I was planning to announce mid May because I mentally thought I needed more practice however as I was building brand awareness I've had people reaching out if I was booking yet, and at that point I felt confident to start sooner and why wait. I feel so confident and stand by my investment because I put in what I wanted to get out of it, do the work and figuring it out. Yes I've learned a lot from the training but I also have been learning a lot from just jumping in and tanning people. Not only the training helped with my confidence to spray tan but also there are other opportunities to work with the brand, continue education, and also there's a supportive fb group. I will say this, whether you get a training from her or anyone else YOU should be putting in what you want to get out of it. If you expect to just get clientele just by this training and not doing the work you are not being realistic. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I spent my savings on this training because I genuinely believed I was investing in myself and in starting my own business. That made the experience especially disappointing. There was very little information provided overall, and a lot of the classroom portion focused on their products and the brand itself. I understand that learning about the products is important, but I was expecting much more education on the actual techniques, equipment, setup, troubleshooting, and practical knowledge needed to confidently start doing spray tans. When it comes to the hands-on portion, you should be aware that you get very limited one-on-one time with Isabell, and most of the hands-on instruction is done with her other employees. There is absolutely nothing wrong with her employees helping with the training, but I do feel this should be clearly advertised and explained beforehand. I specifically signed up because I wanted to train with someone experienced, so my expectation was that I would be getting substantially more hands-on instruction and experience directly from Isabell. I only had the opportunity to practice on one leg and one arm, and even then, I was being guided by having my hand held through the process. For me, the hands-on portion was the most important reason I chose an in-person training. It was also difficult to watch the other students because computer screens and phones being used to film the Zoom portion were frequently blocking my view. There were also many basic things I expected to learn in a professional spray tanning training that were not covered, such as how to set up and unfold the tent, how to properly clean it, what type of fans to use, different types of spray guns, how to load the gun with solution, different solution options and when to use them, and many other practical aspects of actually doing this as a business. I also wasn't told that I would not be receiving the spray gun until I emailed to ask. What really stayed with me is that during the classroom portion, Isabell talked about taking a training herself that left her feeling like she didn't know what to do afterward. I remember hearing that and thinking that she, of all people, would understand how important it is for students to leave a training feeling prepared, confident, and supported. If I could tell her something honestly and from the heart, it would be this: **I wish that experience had made you want to provide an even better experience for the people who come to learn from you, because unfortunately, that's how I feel I am leaving this training. And I know I'm not the only one.** I understand that there is plenty of information online, and I am completely willing to continue educating myself. But that's not why I paid for a professional training. I spent my savings because I wanted to learn directly from someone experienced and leave feeling comfortable and confident enough to actually start my business. What has been especially disappointing is the communication afterward. I have been going back and forth with them regarding taking another class to "make up" for the experience. I never asked for another full class. **I only asked for the hands-on portion that I feel I did not receive during the training I already paid for.** I don't think it is unreasonable to want the hands-on portion of a hands-on training to actually be hands-on. I went into this with high expectations because of the brand and the experience I believed I was going to receive. Unfortunately, I left feeling like I still have to teach myself many of the things I specifically spent my savings to learn. I am still determined to make this business work, and I will continue learning and practicing on my own. But I wanted to share my honest experience so future students know what to expect and, hopefully, so the training can be improved for others.
