Deceitful and dishonest practices, do not have anything delivered and planted from this business. Among other problems with this company mentioned over and over in other reviews, they intentionally brought me a hail damaged tree without disclosing it to me. The crew even parked the tree 4 houses down so I could not view it until they had it in the ground. I purchased this healthy $1200 tree in 2023 at full price and before it was delivered, they apparently had a big hail storm that hit their whole yard really hard. They did not notify me of the hail damage to the tree I bought, and when I complained they told me the tree would bounce back after a couple years. It has now looked the same (hail damaged and unhealthy) for 3 years since it was planted and they will not refund or warranty or acknowledge they gave me a hail damaged tree that was original bought as healthy at full price. Now they want to charge me to remove it! There are half a dozen other much better services in the immediate to use. Pictured is what The Sprucery thinks is okay for $1200. We spent thousands at the Sprucery only to end up with multiple dead trees and bushes and horrible customer service. Don't waste your time and money here, go straight to Tagawa or heck, even Lowes or Home Depot have better products and service. We went to the Sprucery looking to fill our new build backyard with beautiful plants and trees.. the employee knew we lived in Castle Rock Rock was informed we needed low maintenance, hearty plants. The Sprucery employee, when she wasn't too busy talking on her phone during our interaction, recommended an Eastern Redbud tree that another employee now admits should NEVER have been planted at our altitude (Castle Rock). When it died within 3 months (and Sprucery blaming us for over/under watering), we had to pay to have a replacement of the same inappropriate variety planted, despite the "warranty." That one also died within months. We contacted them again and were told the type of tree RECOMMENDED BY THEIR EMPLOYEE needed lower altitude to survive. Rather than owning up to their mistake, these self-proclaimed local tree experts told us WE should have known better and REFUSED replace the 2nd dead tree. They offered a pathetic discount but we definitely will NOT spend another penny with the Sprucery! I don't recommend you do either unless you're looking to waste time and money and endure months of frustration for dead trees and plants. read more

My family purchased some trees here for their yard. They were delivered different trees than what were picked out at the nursery. One tree has already died a few weeks after planting. I'm very surprised by how business is conducted and the total lack of customer service. My mom recently purchased a tree... they delivered a completely different looking tree, yet keep insisting it's the same one. The tree was planted poorly and ended up dying... the planting service alone is ~$300 and the tree itself was ~$750.... That's unacceptable. My mom has been trying relentlessly to get a hold of someone to help fix what's going on and there has been absolutely no reply... to the point of her having to dispute the charges on her credit card. I cannot even put my frustration into words. We bought two trees here last fall at the recommendation of our landscaper. We purchased the largest Autumn Blaze Maple we could get to get some shade on our yard so our toddler could play in the grass more often. Unfortunately the maple died, the other cottonwood tree is doing just fine. So not sure if was due to the early freezes last fall but either way we paid for them to install it so that we would get the year warranty so that if it didn't survive, the Sprucery would honor a warranty replacement. Trees die, I don't hold that against them, but I have called over 35 times over the past two months and NO ONE WILL ANSWER THE PHONE or return my numerous voicemails and emails and contact requests through their website. We finally drove down there to talk to someone in person and even thought we had already had an arborist come out to confirm the tree was dead we got blown off and handed a card with a warranty email to contact. Not surprising no one has returned our 4 emails or phone calls in over 3 months. Well have to go down there again and take time out of our day just because they don't answer their phones. This time I'll be conferring with our attorney with the contract from the purchase before we go down to chat with them. I cannot believe how anyone can stay in business with this kind of customer service. I will never ever buy another tree here or ever recommend them, and I run a Gardening group page for our community of over 1200 residents so they've been warned. That's said, we wasted a ton of Travis's time asking lots of questions...not even good questions, but he was super patient, super helpful and just downright cool. My only regret is it was rainy so I didn't get to take it all in. I will definitely be back on a sunny day just because the place is really cool. You need to go and buy things from them. read more

Literally the worst service imaginable on all fronts. First trees were planted.. then they died with drip lines installed. Then their "warranty" only covers their small inventory and they boost the price on you so you have to get smaller trees, or pay more. Oh and you have to pay hundreds of dollars for delivery again. Then they schedule you in.. were late by hours for planting it and brought half dead trees to my place. And they claim THEY are the ones inconvenienced. Selected and purchased a very healthy Elm tree and paid to have them install. Tree was delivered with significant damage to leaves (small holes). I took photos in to the garden center to discuss the situation. I was advised of the products I could purchase from them to treat the tree and told that I should have selected a healthier tree. I selected a healthy tree, that was subsequently invaded by pests while it remained in their custody until delivery and installation by them. I sent an email to the owner. The Sprucery has a good selection of trees, bushes and plants. HOWEVER, the management/ownership team DOES NOT stand behind their warranties! We bought $12,000 of trees and bushes from them and paid the extra money for the 1 year warranty. We bought in August and the following May, I took pictures and emailed them to the warranty department and showed them that these 3- $500 each trees weren't doing well- they were half dead. I paid for the Sprucery's installation crew and so they were -supposedly- planted the right way with the right size hole, fertilizers etc. When no one responded to my email about getting these 3 trees replaced, I -proactively- called in and spoke to the owner, and she immediately went on the offense about how I wasn't watering them enough etc, etc. I told her that if that was the case why are the other 11 trees that I bought, at the same time, and planted in the same row, doing fine. I simply wanted to get replacements delivered, the dying ones hauled away and the new ones re-planted. She said, "It's only May, why don't you give them a few months to see if they will bounce back?" So when I called back in late July, she said, "Wow, you're calling me pretty late into the warranty!" I reminded her about our conversation from 2.5 months ago and she -reluctantly- agreed to have me come to the Sprucery so I could pick out the new trees. When I got there, I asked for the manager, told her, "I'm here for a warranty replacement." She went over to her computer, looked up the notes on my account and came back with a totally bad attitude. She literally said, "you know we really shouldn't be replacing these but I guess we will." What the hell? What kind of response is that, I thought? I reminded her that we dropped $12,000 at one time for our landscaping and she called me to my face a "deceptive a88hole" in front of other customers! Very classy. That's when I asked for the owner, Dusty Herringer, to come out and take over from this manager. He saw that there "was a situation" brewing and I told him what the manager had called me. He shrugged it off, no empathy, no apology and said, let's go find your trees. Yes, I got my my warranty trees replaced BUT not first going through the gauntlet with Dusty's wife, the co-owner, and then this nasty manager. No longer locally owned - Beware of doing business here now because if there is a problem, chances are they will not take responsibility or make it right....they might even blame you for their internal supplier quality issue!!! On 4/11/23, we bought 25 bags of what was labeled 'Western Red Cedar Mulch". We've done business with The Sprucery for 10+ years, including large and small projects. Every 1-2 years we buy mulch from them & it's always consistent. Today the mulch was darker & had had a different texture than in the past. We verified the labeling on the bags & assumed it was just wet or that they changed the mulch since our last buy. The first 19 bags, labeled as red cedar, looked identical. The 20th bag was lighter brown with texture & looked like what we have always laid & what we expected but it was completely different from the first 19 bags. We immediately called & talked to Taylor. We sent pictures & he agreed the mulch looked very different. I expected him to help & make it right but he kept blaming their supplier, saying it wasn't his fault, it was theirs. Even though he sold it & his team loaded it, he took no responsibility for fixing the issue. He checked the rest of the bags he had in stock & confirmed them to all be the correct, brown mulch. His only solution was to take back the 7 un-opened bags, which does us no good. He can't provide mulch to match the first 19 bags because of the quality / color issue & he refused to provide a credit or to replace the incorrect product so we can match the correct color he has in stock; the correct mulch we requested and bought from him. Taylor became offensive; telling me the bags were see through, insinuating we should've known. In reality, we told them what we wanted & his team pulled it & loaded it, so we asked why they didn't notice it. He had no answer other than to be combative & continue to shirk any responsibility. We spent $350 on the 1st truckload of mulch & we planned to buy another 60+ bags. We're now stuck with product he admits is a quality issue & doesn't match, which is unacceptable. We want him to stand behind his sale & handle his supplier on the back-end. We want him to credit the bad product & make it right. read more

if I could leave zero stars I would. I bought 3 baby blue eyes and paid for them to be delivered and planted. I had drip lines on all of them and gave the recommended water and they all died. The price of the trees supposedly went up dramatically and they didn't have nearly as many trees so their "warranty" only covered cheaper trees and you have to pay for delivery on top of that again. Then they plan a time.. didn't give a window.. said they would BE HERE at 12pm and said they were on their way for an hour. Come to find out, they actually didn't have room on the trailer and have to come back to the Sprucery for my trees.. oh and then they have to eat lunch.. so it'll be 2-3pm instead. After purchasing $3000 of plants and trees from The Sprucery, I found one Globe Spruce, a $90 value, which was damaged (split 3 ways down the center trunk like someone stepped on it). Unfortunately due to the large number of plants we had delivered (71 plants), and the fact that the delivery driver was 72 years old with a cracked rib so I unloaded most of the truck myself, I missed the damage upon delivery. When I contacted Megan, the sales person, she told me first that delivery only means we drive the plants to your house. You unload it. Not for $135 fee. In regards to the globe spruce, she couldn't help me. Since I signed for the plant, there were no refunds or exchanges. Then she told me that they would never send a plant that was damaged and I probably stepped on it. Then she hung up on me. After trying to call her back repeatedly, she TEXTED me and said "The owner will allow an exchange. THAT IS IT! Don't call me again." So many things wrong with this customer service interaction. In a $3000 order, The Sprucery doesn't care if they got one plant wrong. "You could have rejected the plant if it was damaged." says Megan. If you make a mistake, own it. If you want repeat business, don't hang up on your customers. If you want a negative review, tell your customers to never call you again. If you would with Megan or The Sprucery, watch your back. We purchased a plant 3 weeks ago and it died within 2 weeks. I assumed this place would have the same return policy that Tagawa, Home Depot, or Lowe's has - 1 year for perennials. To my surprise, they only warranty plants that they install. Who's going to pay for installation for a small plant? We were there today to replace the plant, look at 3 trees, and two berry bushes. Every time the employees are standoffish and you have to track someone down to help you or put your name on a list and wait - despite there being four people sitting at the front doing nothing. Today was the final straw - I came in with an infant in a car seat to buy some grass. A bored looking woman at the front pointed me to a cart and in the general direction of what I was looking for. After 30 min of walking around pushing the cart with a car seat on it I FINALLY found the grass. I was sweating profusely at this point ... needless to say I bought six grasses because every other nursery is sold out of what I needed. No one was helpful. Not one of the four people at the front offered to help me get to my car or put anything in it. One woman was literally filing her nails. Also - and this is most important ... this place is grossly overpriced compared to other nurseries. If Holly Acres wasn't out of the grass I needed I would have gone there. I was actually yelled at by the blonde gal at the desk as if I was hard of hearing upon leaving we were told she was unfortunately the owner .. Ainsley was only person that gave us time of day with questions and cleaning products but when she went to ask the one guy there where they bought food for Koi fish, he said " we dont sell it so...". Pradera friends. I will take this moment to warn you of a situation that was completely uncalled for and shows the true character of this company and its employees. We highly recommend using Front Range in Franktown over Sprucery. We purchased 2 trees last fall from this company with the confidence that their company stands behind their products. Unfortunately, the trees did not make it. We worked with their customer service rep who was really nice and willing to help get new trees, even though the trees are technically not under warranty. Sounds good. right? Well that was until we went in to the Sprucery today. At first we were brushed off by one of the employees (Ainsley) we were told to meet with only to be led into a hornets nest of rude, insulting and disrespectful behavior of the next employee. The sales person named Megan not only argued with us about everything we already discussed with the customer service rep but she was plain disrespectful and sarcastic about even discounting some new trees. After many attempts to communicate with her and repeated disrespect to myself and family (with our kids right there), we walked out the door and will be taking our business elsewhere. Funny thing is, Ainsley was the person that sold these trees to us last fall and assured us there would be no issues as long as we follow their planting and watering guide. The Spucery should not sell trees that the plants is in a frozen 5 gal container as it will not survive. I bought a pear tree and it lasted just one year with care throughout the year. It had leaves in early spring and by early June it was not blooming, leaves were drying out. The soil was not overly watered and I checked soil for any insects. The person at the purchase point said the one year warranty was up. I think one year is barely enough to see if a tree will survive. If you sell a product you should stand behind the product as a sales policy. read more

Walked in to the Sprucery looking for help with my landscaping. We were already frustrated because we contacted many smaller landscaping companies who never got back to us, heard of people giving deposits and having the companies dissapear, and even called another "bigger" company who said they wouldn't do smaller projects. Spoke to Megan about what we were looking for in general and told her we needed help designing because we really didn't know much about trees/landscaping. Megan asked us to give her a few days and that she would draw something up for us. She got back to us with a drawing and we went from there. From then to getting the work done, everything was a breeze. The work was done in two days, the people that came out to do the work did a great job and left everything clean. My husband and I drove all over town looking for specific type plants for our xeriscape landscaping project. We were just about to give up hope when we contacted The Sprucery Garden Center. They had everything we were looking for, except one type, that could not be found anywhere else (We were beyond happy and shocked)! The grounds are beautiful and the staff was extremely helpful. We were told the plant that was currently not in stock would be available in a week or so. I'm sure their word is good...keep you posted. read more

Terrible customer service, and their exchange policy is misleading. I called to let them know that the tree they had planted was not actually the tree we had chosen when we went to the nursery. They kept insisting they had so many customers and couldn't remember the details of what we had requested. It was the rudest customer service I've encountered. Very Very disappointed with this place. We bought several Mugo Pines and they started to die within days of planting them. The manager told us that there is no warranty, only that we could get a 50% off our next purchase if we filed for it on their warranty page if approved. After a half an hour I checked to see where we were on the list, she said one more person in front of me. Come back 15 minutes later and my name is checked off and I never received a phone call. Now looking for assistance and another girl gets someone else since my place has been taken. She gets a man to help me Who spoke to me immediately in a rude and disrespectful manner. He said that the trees are all labeled and that he was not going to spend hours helping me pick out a tree, I should go to the Internet and look it up.
