I keep being told by this owner the red oaks are late blooming... 2 of the three trees I have in the back are red oak.... Tomorrow post will consist of the fake tree warranty, post communication of the owner and how gifting a tree works at this place. I guess what aggravates me most, my new tree could have been planted 6 weeks back, doing what it needs to do to start, get the rain settle, but they had to wait 6 weeks to make sure the stick was dead. You would think during the last 2 weeks someone would reach out and ask, how's the tree... maybe my picture of things are different in this marble we live on. read more

As someone who doesn't know much about plants, I was overwhelmed with the options and choices available. There are lots of colors and species. I really liked the fairy plants that they offer. They also have classes as well where you can build and plot your own which was cool and something I'll have to check back in the future. MoMo also had a fantastic time exploring the gardens smelling everything and exploring. Lots of pretty photo ops for the doggos. read more

This is a plant lovers paradise. As soon as I walked through the doors I felt calmer. This is a local gem and gardeners who are serious about plants and how to grow them come here. They offer free classes nearly every day and have experts who want to help. We came later in March and were able to find some stunning pansies while the big box stores weren't stocked yet. I know price can be an issue for something like an annual that will die but the superior quality of the plants shines through. They are grown in the perfect conditions and aren't mass produced and sprayed with toxic chemicals. Some pansies last a few weeks, these can last an entire Spring and Summer if cared for and protected from extreme weather. I decided that 2 large pre-planted pots of pansies for $60 would give me over 10 plants to split up. At $6 a pansy that is worth it to me due to their strong stems and beautiful color. Looking forward to coming back closer to Mother's Day when we all know we can finally plant in the ground. Amazing job Tagawa for setting the standard. read more

Had a very good experience here. Went here after being disappointed with buying plants at the big box stores that just couldn't survive in Colorado. They don't choose plants that work well here. Tagawa has so many choices that work well in our dry sunny climates. The manager Chuck gave us a tour and he was so helpful. I hear you, but here are a couple of things to consider: 1. Returning merchandise to other stores doesn't require putting tons of live insects into your car. 2. Consider the lifetime value of a customer. King Soopers will take ANY item back, no questions asked. Why? Because they understand that the customer is always right. The cost to them if I return a $20 steak is nothing compared to me continuing to shop there. If I start shopping at Safeway instead, they lose all the purchases I would have made there forever! read more

The prices are reasonable for house plants. I don't know about any of their outdoor plants as I don't have an outdoor space. I've always met kind people that work here too. The cashier also recommended Black Gold potting soil. Inflation of maple trees have doubled in the last three years from $300-$600. The selection of trees is top notch and it seems like they have enough varieties of poinsettias to decorate the entire Denver Convention Center. I have many fond memories of my family's annual trip to Tagawa Gardens to pick out a Christmas tree. When deciding where to go this year with my husband and toddler, I was happy to learn from friends that Tagawa is still a recommended local biz to grab a tree. We arrived a little after they opened at 10:00 am on Sunday. We were trying to avoid crowds and succeeded! We made our way through the store to the large tent where all trees are housed. Available trees are all on bases and organized very well by type and height. It made it so easy to scan the aisles until we found our perfect one. If you're looking for poinsettias, they also have SO many of those, including a variety of colors and types. Call me lazy, but we're used to our old tree farm in Miami doing the base for us so it's ready to go as soon as we get home. At Tagawa, they seemed a little confused by our request but complied since we were buying their base anyways! They were quick and efficient at tying it to our car and gave us a little bit of free tree preserver, overall making this a very quick and painless experience. Since we signed up for the discount card, we got a nice percentage off, so definitely do that! Of course, Tagawa has a lot to offer year round for plant and gardening enthusiasts, so I'll be back come springtime. The shop has a lot of gift type things, as well... With so many varities and such a great and knowledgeable staff, Tagawa is the place for your gardening needs. What the local home improvements don't have, Tagawa definitely does. I needed cactus soil and first tried two neighborhood "nurseries" that did not have any stock. I should know better because Tagawa will always have what a gardener needs and of the best quality. Prices are a little more but again, you get what you pay for and it is worth it. Whether you have a forever green thumb or just starting out, the staff are very helpful to make recommendations and offer sound advice. Careful to make time because one could easily spend an afternoon here enjoying the gardens, the flowers and shubbery, gardening gadgets and kitchen wares. Mike was so helpful and showed us what was wrong so we could take care of them. The info he shared and how he delivered it was AWESOME! You looking for something for your Garden or need some questions answered? Come to Tagawa and ask for Mike you'll be glad you did. So we dropped in for some advice and Chuck and his Team we exactly what we needed. We had laid some new sod down and the suggested that we add som composted top dressing. It literally leveled the playing field and now the backyard looks so good. At first glance, I actually enjoyed coming to this plant nursery and been here a total of three times. I bought a couple succulents, and I do enjoy how cute they potted some of the Bromeliads into pots. The African Violets are also in cute glassware pots. They sell mainly outdoor and patio furniture and décor, but I thought it was overpriced. I bought some white, wooden stools for my plants to stand on, overpriced at $14.00! They had this cute mandala wall décor, but it was over $100.00 and I was so in love with it for the times visited. It was heavy and upon inquiring the price, even the cashier was shocked how horribly priced it was. We saw that they sell many canvases of nature, fairies and gnome statues, frogs and pet supplies. They have just about everything from ceramic plant pots, wind chimes and gardening tools. They have a rewards program which is nice and the cashier did offer me a coupon which deducted $20.00 off my total. Overall, it's a colorful store, and lots of unique plants that I would totally return for! read more

I purchased a relatively expensive out door annual hanging basket and put it where I always put them on the south side of my home. I routinely water the plants every day. These flowers lasted only 3 weeks until they shriveled up and died. I took them back and Tagawa kindly replaced them with an instruction sheet on how take care of these flower. I asked if these flowers would be OK in sun for 3 hours or so and was told that they would be fine if I followed the instructions, which I did. unfortunately these too have wilted although I was very careful to follow the instructions. Instead of paying $60.00 next year I'll return to my $19.95 Home Depot special..... they never disappoint. read more

When neighbors suggested I de-weed my side yard on my new house, that I inherited from my dad, they suggested I plant peppermint, like they have growing in theirs, as it's hearty & hard to kill. Perfect for me, I thought! Given I own the sunny side of the walkway between my neighbor's and my garage, I researched other such sunny plants, and identified lavender as one option. I then drove to Home Depot - in the dead of summer (July 100 degree heat) - given my neighbors failed to raise this issue/concern with me until the middle of the summer, when it is obviously not ideal planting season (wish they would've told me in the spring), but - le sigh - fine, I listened to their feedback. (Even though my dad never de-weeded or planted flowers or shrubs in his 20-years of owning this house, so it was obvious that my neighbors were taking advantage of my dad's death, and of my naivete.) Regardless, I contacted the President of our HOA to ensure - and verify - that I was in compliance, in spite of my neighbor's failed attempt at a threat *AND* I remedied the situation - proactively, to be a good neighbor, and to spend 2-solid weekend days "getting out of my head" after my break-up with my NoVA/DC boyfriend, after I had to move back here to Denver, CO after my dad's October COVID death. Home Depot did not have any mint or lavender, and - essentially - implied that I was an idiot for wanting to plant in the dead of summer. No kidding, I thought - and told them. Would you like to talk to my meddling neighbors? This is when I remembered all the many trips to Tagawa that my mom took my sister & me on as a little kid! I struggled to remember its name, but recalled it sounding Japanese (is that right?) and did a ton of Google searching & Yelp searching, remembering it was a huge/massive nursery and flower garden, en route to Parker. I found it! I was so happy. :) (I'm estranged from my anti-vaxxer mom, so couldn't ask her - directly.) I came here, and asked if they had mint or lavender. Boy, did they! They had multiple types of mint: peppermint, spearmint, and I cannot even recall the multiple other options. In terms of lavender, it was the same thing. They had English, French, etc. etc. I was in heaven - and overwhelmed. I asked a bunch of questions, specked out my requirements, and then purchased what seemed to be best. (However 4 of the 4 peppermint are currently dead looking - unless the roots survive, and 1 of the 2 lavender is dead - unless the same thing.) They also recommended I buy a basil - for the end, which has miraculously survived the heat & sporadic watering, as well as being planted in the ground - vs. its preferred pot. As it's become rather full & hearty - surprisingly, given it truly looked like it wouldn't survive, for awhile there - I now need to buy something to help it stand up straight vs. lean over, but I have not had time with my new career & handling my dad's estate. When I'm ready, I know I can come here for help! In parallel, I generously & magnanimously built positive social capital with my next door neighbor - who was equally called out, by the nosy neighbors, across the street - for his abundant weeds, by de-weeding his side of the walkway, as well, considering he shovels the walkway of snow in the winter. We now have an unspoken agreement that he handles it in the winter, and I handle it in the spring-fall, but he also has started taking our plants under his wing, watering them - for us - as I bought him two Hostas, which love his shady side, and which are doing the best - of the bunch - aside from our baby bunny eating the leaves, which we don't mind. :) read more

This nursery is amazing! I am always looking for succulents and this is the closest place to me and I love them. Overtime I go they have new succulents in stock and they are all in amazing shape. They have tons of amazing flowers as well in the spring and summer time and such a great variety. If you need trees they also have a great variety outside during the warmer months. Along with the plants they have some adorable household and garden decor that is so unique. The variety they have to their planters is amazing too. They have everything from tiny pots to giant out door ones to singles to multi plant potters. I am so happy to have found this garden center and the fact that it is so close is dangerous!! I love coming here even if its just to look around because it is such a beautiful garden center. If you ever need something garden related you have to come here! read more
