The Stable Spa is a great place to get a massage and feel pampered. I have stayed at the resort where it's located several times and have always been impressed with the services and my overall experience at the spa. I have had massages with several different therapists and they have all been super high quality. They also offer you a spot to reflect, drink tea, and look at the Mountain View after your service. I came here for a girls day and we all purchased Day passes. Upon arrival, the front desk staff member tried to tell our group that one of us was not in their system and was going to be put on a waitlist to get in & be charged - even though we all had email and payment confirmations. It turns out the reservation was there the whole time. After that, there was no staff around to inform us or show us where any amenities on the property were nor did the front desk staff member bother to help. We ended up having to ask another guest for help. The property was pretty dead. The steam room wasn't turned on, so we had to figure out how to do that. Majority of chairs by the pool were ripped up or rotting. Dirty towels were overflowing from their baskets. It's advertised that food & drinks will be served by the pool. There was no staff by the pool the entire day we were there. The pool bar ended up being closed, but there was no communication as to why. We had to walk from the pool to the main restaurant for drinks and food, which is a fairly steep walk. Upon arriving at the restaurant, the host was not informed as to how we could take food to go or how to answer questions regarding the menu. Our order and bill ended up being wrong 3 times. All in all, for the amount of money that was spent - the experience was very poor and disappointing. The only redeeming factor was the beautiful view. read more

I didn't get a massage but I did get a day pass to use their salt water pool, cold plunge, and saunas. It was sooo pretty! There were a few kids in the pool but otherwise pretty quiet (it was also a Wednesday...) It was very peaceful and relaxing, I walked the property and took a nap on the hammocks by the river. At the end of the day I used their showers which was nice to clean up before heading out. Definitely recommend coming to relax and enjoy the serenity and scenery if you need a peaceful, relaxing afternoon read more

I came here with a group of girlfriends for the "Polar Bear Plunge" spa experience, which we booked weeks in advance. We're all frequent spa-goers and have tried most of the spas in WNC, so we arrived with high hopes. The hotel grounds are truly beautiful -- it's a stunning property -- but unfortunately, the actual spa experience left us all very disappointed. Upon Arrival: When we arrived at our designated start time, the spa door was locked and no staff were around. We ended up waiting about 15 minutes for someone to arrive, which felt unorganized and set a frustrating tone for the day. Facilities & Communication: When a staff member finally showed us around, she casually mentioned that the sauna was broken -- no apology, just a quick note in passing. Considering we each paid nearly $50 for a two-hour experience centered around the sauna and cold plunge, I would have expected some prior communication about this, along with an option to reschedule or a partial discount. Steam Room & Cleanliness: The steam room was offered as an alternative, but it wasn't even turned on or heated when we arrived. It took almost 30 minutes to warm up, cutting into the limited two-hour window we had paid for. It also didn't feel clean -- there were hairs and grime visible, which was disappointing for a spa that had just opened for the day. Cold Plunge: The cold plunge was underwhelming. It was more like a small cold bathtub and wasn't as cold as the standard at other spas offering this type of experience. There was also only one plunge tub, which meant taking turns and waiting around instead of having a smooth, continuous experience. Bathroom & Shower Setup: The bathroom situation was also awkward. The spa/pool building only has two bathrooms with showers, which are shared with all the pool guests (there were 20+ people at the pool during our visit). During my 10-minute shower and quick change, I had multiple people knocking on the door asking to use the bathroom. It made the end of the experience feel rushed and clunky. I know this review sounds harsh, but it's only because the property markets itself as a five-star, luxury destination, and the pricing reflects that. While the hotel grounds are beautiful, the spa facilities and overall experience just don't match the level they're trying to operate at. read more

I highly recommend the Stable Spa. The setting is wonderful in a beautifully converted horse stable. The interior is tastefully decorated and spacious. The treatment rooms (former horse stalls) were quiet and relaxing. The masseurs were professional and attentive. My massage was one of, if not the best I have received. One of the best experiences I have ever had in a spa. The entire property is absolutely gorgeous, the staff is super friendly, they were very COVID cautious, the atmosphere was very calming and brought a great southern charm to the mix. My boyfriend and I chose to do a couples massage for valentine's day. My massage therapist was Dan Watson and his was Julie Patton. They were both so great!
