I was ready to hate this franchise coming into the neighborhood with elevated prices however.... Sunday at about 6 we had a short wait in a long line and fast service. Young kid servers are adorable. Cameron brought our food and not only had a great smile but such a great attitude. Everyone here contributes to the buzz and cleanliness. Comfortable indoor and outdoor seating that accommodates sports fans and families. Ok, now for the food. Yumm. Dad is always the hardest to please but he enjoyed his hot dog. He said it was different. Mom devoured her bbq brisket sandwich on pretzel bread. Fries were nice and crispy outside and soft inside giving Phil's BBQ fries a run for the money as they are mom's gold standard! I had the ahi salad and boy did I enjoy it. This place is amazing. The first time I went, I ended up going back the next day and then again the following weekend. The fries and the pretzel brisket sandwich were unlike anything I've tasted before. Pairing it with the ranch was such a great touch. There can be a long wait when dining in, which is understandable because it's popular. If you're ordering to go, I learned that placing the order online is much easier and faster. I REALLY want to love the Stand! If I would have chosen to make my review on first visit, I might have given a full 4-5 stars. The ABC burger is simply delightful! But this review is based off of 4 visits total, which varies between 1-3 stars, hence the 2. I am a picky eater and I'm usually limited to what I desire to eat but there is quite a few menu items I'm excited to try! Round two was the ABC burger because it's awesome. Even went with a shake because this location is not full bar and I wanted something tasty! Round 3, I tried something new. I went with the Short Rib Grilled Cheese. At the end of the day, I didn't like the tomato bacon jam. Just too bright. But the downer of the meal was the house made chips. They were stale/not fresh. Round 4 and more than likely final round for this location, I got the Onion stack burger and chili fries. I said NO tomato bacon jam! My burger came with little to no onions and had the tomato jam. In the defense of the kitchen, I said easy on the onions, but ment that for the chili fries, not the burger. Also, turns out the hickory sauce might be more like the tomato bacon jam and I got the two confused. But it doesn't help that the fries were not hot and fresh. I did mention something about the burger being less than perfect. They did make up for it by making the burger again and they gave me a cookie. I took the cookie home.... IT HAD A HAIR BAKED IN IT! I might go back. I might not. I might save the visit for Carmel Mt Ranch, never had an issue there. It's a shame. If I do go back, it will be for that ABC burger! read more

We ordered the chili dog, stand burger, and cookies and cream shake. As pictured, the chili dog didn't seem anything too special, looked like we could get the exact same kind from 7-11. My son said the milkshake was really good and compared it to Cheesecake Factory. There seemed to be only one person bringing out everyone's food and she seemed very busy. Will helped us and was incredibly kind and attentive--he made the visit feel welcoming and went above and beyond when our fries came out a little soggy. It was good, just not something I'd personally order again, but that's more about my taste than the quality. The Parmesan-crusted bun was a standout and seriously delicious. The onion rings were solid, and I loved that they have a huge variety of sauces to choose from. The homemade dill pickles were awesome--definitely don't skip those. I first tried this spot, in May of this year. I am just reviewing it now because I have been late with my posts and have been here several times already. I enjoy all the times I have been here. The meals I have tried are the French Onion Burger, the Asian salad, the chili dog, and their stand chips and guac. I've had the french onion burger a couple times and it is SOOO good. It comes with a french onion soup to dip the burger in. I love their stand chips and guac. They give you a good amount of guac and its yum. Make sure to get some of their complimentary pickles by the register. Staff is always busy walking around and clearing tables because it can get pretty busy here. They have a nice outdoor patio with a bunch of tables to accommodate bigger parties. It is located in the Jack in the Box shopping center in Santee. Good amount of parking but can get pretty busy. I paired it with fries and was impressed with selection of sauces available to have with fries. I chose Jalapeño onion and spicy honey mustard, both had great flavor. I ordered the meat "medium" and proceeded to find a place to sit and enjoy my lunch. Lots of seating, choice of booths, hi tops, or patio seating outside. Overall, excellent! Sadly, The Stand doesn't seem to be what it once was. With so many restaurants raising prices while quality declines, it's disappointing to see this one joining that trend. I recently ordered my favorite, the French Onion Burger, for pickup. It was ready at the promised time, but when I got home, the burger was cold and the fries were limp and unappetizing. I'm hoping this was just an off day because I've enjoyed this restaurant in the past. That said, with today's prices, it's hard to justify giving it another chance right away. I stopped in The Stand for an early dinner and ordered the Chimichurri Steak Salad for $15.99 plus tax. I ordered the steak to be temped at medium rare to medium. Unfortunately, after I ordered at the counter and sat down, the young lady from the counter came to me and told be that the steak could not be cooked to my desired temperature because their steak comes precooked on a package. As you can imagine, I was like "what?" I will admit, I was very disappointed that a eatery like "The Stand" does not prepare their steak to order. At any rate, since I already ordered and paid, I decided to give it a go. The salad came with marinated grilled steak, kale with a spring mix, thin green apple sticks, a touch of mint, sliced cucumber, corn salsa, cherry tomatoes, crispy quinoa, and topped with a chimichurri sauce over the steak and charred corn vinaigrette over the salad. The salad was nicely presented and the salad ingredients were fresh. There wasn't much of the charred corn in the salad, which was too bad because it was my favorite part of the salad. The dressing pretty good, but did have a sour note towards the end. The steak was okay. Cooking it twice, definitely gave it a little chewiness and the fact that it was not sliced across the grain. It's flavor was good, but I definitely would of preferred it at the very least, at a medium temperature. The young lady "Emilee" was very nice. Charles made the recommendation for a Thai tea Milkshake, something I had no clue existed. The milkshake was amazing. We had the fire fries and the green beans with the curled onions on top. Alright, I ate my words. I laughed at why a hamburger place would open across the street from a popular chain called In N Out. Well I was wrong. The Stand couldn't be more different. I rolled up here yesterday and perused the menu which offers a variety of options: hamburgers, sandwiches, bowls with a protein and a rice or carb, hot dogs, chili and even a Thai tea shake. This is a high end, fast casual restaurant with plenty of seating indoors and a large covered patio outside. You can order when you arrive or order through the app and pick up. There's a separate area for pick ups so you don't have to wait in the regular line. Your typical fast food experience is elevated here. After ordering and grabbing your free pickles ( next to the counter) leave your number on the table and a friendly server will bring it to you. At the register you will order all your food, including which sauces you want. Those will come out in a small plastic container. I tried the stand sauce, ketchup and Meyer lemon aioli. So delish. For our food, I tried the tuna on a brioche bun. It typically comes with a pretzel bun, but I tend to avoid those because I'm worried they'll be too thick and hard to eat? I guess I'll never know because I always alternate the bread option. The tuna was extra creamy with a lot of mayo. The arugula and red onion offset the creaminess of the tuna. Add in the sweetness of the brioche. That was a yummy tuna. I had this with a side of their regular fries. Which are the thicker kind, that are really crispy but a little soggy on the inside. My favorite kind. We also got the French onion soup. Which I totally thought was a soup in the wrong part of the menu. But nah, it's called French onion soup the sandwich because they serve it with au jous. These were delicious comfort foods. Sandwiches and burgers range anywhere from $12 and up. So it's definitely a higher price point than your typical burger across the street. I am very excited to try their chili and the havarti hamburger which will be full of mushrooms. My mom gave us a coupon for a bogo entree at the stand, so we came to try it we walked in, we stood in line for only a moment before being helped. I ordered the Havarti shropm burger, but substituted the jalapeño scallion aioli with stand burger sauce and got a side of sweet potato fries. My husband ordered the French onion soup burger and fire fries. We sat at a table on their patio. There was some music playing over the speakers and a couple tv's with sports on. The food was pretty good and fresh, except my sweet potato fries were kind of floppy. We would definitely come back again and try something else.
