Like many others here, I've had an experience where I paid for work, and could never reach them again. Seems more and more common. I'm trying to get ahold of someone at the business who can help. I have no issue with the physical locations, which are great, but the landscape design service is the issue. I've contacted the physical location, filed a complaint with BBB #23207771, and tried to speak to many people and still cannot figure out the next steps. Here is my story, buyer beware. This is the timeline (see text messages): 1. Nov 2 2021 I initiated the project. 2. Brandon and I went back and forth on which planter to sue, and decided Nov 23rd 2021. 3. Had trouble reaching Brandon for 4 months from Nov 29 2021 - March 7 2022, he just didn't respond to my messages 4. April 7 2022, finally got the 4 large planters done, but they weren't as proposed. 5. Could not reach Brandon for another 8 months, Dec 27, 2022 he responded. 6. We were back and forth on trying to get him out to see what was done for the next 3 months, he kept setting up appointments and never showing up. 7. I sent him a video Feb 2023 of what was actually done (4 large planters), and he never responded after that. 8. I stopped into the Shermans Oaks store near me multiple times in 2023, each time I was promised a manager would reach out to me to figure out next steps, but never was contacted. It's possible they tried to call me and I missed it, they told me they would take care of things and not to escalate. 9. Finally, I got connected with Aaron July 31 2024, he investigated, offered to either refund me the undelivered order or give me a store credit of the amount +50% given the difficulty. I assumed he made notes, so I sat on it trying to figure out what to use the credit for. 10. This brings us to present day. I understand that it has been 3.5 years, but 2 years of that delay was spent trying to reach Brandon, and the last year, I thought we were in good shape after my conversation with Aaron. 11. I feel I've really been quite patient so far. The undelivered amount is $1959.99 + Tax. Hope this helps, at this point I just want to get this resolved, if we can apply this credit to another order I can move in this direction. read more

This has been a horrendous experience. I reached out to them for a large project at the end of Jan. Chris convinced me to put down $7k to get renders and the project going and said they would turn things around in weeks. I paid them the $7k. I had some personal issues happen and hadn't communicated with them, for a month but then in April I asked for an update weekly. I have had 1 text message per week only I have chanced Chris, no timelines, no details, no renders. Nothing. This has been the worst relationship that I have had with and contractor in LA. I"m now asking for my money back, as I have had nothing and they are saying I'm not going to get that. I'm likely going to have to get lawyers involved. Please, please do not use them! read more

I am so mad nobody told me about this place earlier! Who has been hiding it from me? Standard Design Group is a landscape design company but with their own storefront full of the greatest indoor plants I've ever seen. I had so much fun going up and down the aisles. I also learned they have multiple location besides this one including Pasadena Laguna Beach, North Hollywood and more. They also have a lot of gardening stuff, as well as candles and other amazing goodies that would make great gifts. They had the cutest decorative pots too and plants in all different sizes. It can fit in any kind of home or room. Definitely will be using them for my next big project, but for now I'll just buy more plants ! read more

Just walking on Ventura Boulevard with my wife and passed by this place, I had to go inside and take a look for myself. I've never found a place that only sells indoor plants and has their own storefront. This place was amazing with all the options that they have to choose from. The lady inside working there is extremely friendly to talk to. They have a bunch of signs inside that have plant references on them which was the cherry on the top for me. I've been asked before do you know where they sell indoor plants and I always tell people I have no idea look on yelp. Now, that I found this place I will recommend this place to anyone who needs something for indoors. Truly beautiful inside there I will be returning in the future. read more

I came in February and Kai was really amazing! I was just browsing in a walk. I was so intrigued by all the knowledge and different plants in the store. Kaira also prior educated me on what my plant needed as well. When I told her what I had at home she was able to name the plant. Explained why it was only growing out one way and how to help it. For my other plant when I showed her a picture and again explained why it was opening and closing. Then I called into today to take them up on other services they do such as repot and adding a post to plants. I spoke to Lori and she was so sweet and kind said to come in anytime. I came in Heather the manager put the post in and was super helpful and quick! They have so many rare plants, succulents, larger plants and I'm looking forward coming in again for another plant I want for a tapestry I have. Whole staff is so amazing! read more

Amending my previous review as we've been waiting for the landscaping to fill in properly but, unfortunately, I'm very unhappy with the "final" product. I was very excited to work with Standard Design Group after following all of their beautiful work on Instagram. As mentioned in my previous review, we were very pleased with the initial relationship, however, I have been extremely disappointed with the lack of responsiveness after voicing concerns about basic issues like plant choice and spacing. After spending a substantial $30,000 on a project, we were left with numerous concerns about the quality and completion of the work. Simple tasks like not putting a giant fern in a space where it would press up against the house or in another location where it would block a $1500 Monstera plant have not been addressed. Despite reaching out multiple times with our concerns, we have yet to receive any satisfactory resolution or even acknowledgment - from three separate individuals, I've been told that I would receive a call back, but three months later, nothing. The lack of accountability and customer care is frustrating. read more

Do Not Hire This Company! I regret not reading all the Yelp reviews before hiring Standard Design Group. We hired them for what should have been a fairly straightforward project. On their recommendation, we spent $3,000 installing sod in our backyard and also paid them to install irrigation in that area. Less than a year later, nearly all of the grass is dead. I've since learned that the type of sod they sold us was not appropriate for our property. When I called to discuss the issue, Jake informed me they would charge a $250 retainer just to send someone out to evaluate why the grass was failing--despite the fact that their plants are supposedly covered under a one-year warranty and the sod selection was based on their own recommendation. When I expressed concern over the additional fee, Jake became rude and dismissive, telling me they'd be out of business if they didn't charge for follow-up visits. I asked to speak with a supervisor, and he said he was the highest authority I could speak to. I don't know if that's true, but if it is, I'm stunned that someone in a leadership role would think it's acceptable to treat a paying customer that way. I will also be filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I strongly urge others to steer clear of this company. read more

I love this place. As someone with a green thumb and verdant home I really appreciate being able to get all of my plant needs met in one place. I had the pleasure of having Sage help me on my first visit where I purchased a palm (can't recall which type), a zebra plant, an arrangement of bromeliads, and a huge ZZ plant. I went back the next day to purchase a large Dracaena (with help from Heather) and I couldn't be happier!! The quality of these plants is amazing and I also love that the ladies here are super knowledgeable about soil types for various plants. I highly recommend this store if you're searching for new plants/chic planters to elevate your space or if you need to acquire the right soil mix for repotting your existing plants. read more

From the intimate layout to the low light mini plants to the humidified Orchids to the giant well kept thick stems and all the green life lovers as well as admirers decor... This is where the plant magic you've been looking for is! They have excellent deals on just about everything in the store and offer potting services as well as home consultations. The SDGN staff in S.O. is so warm and beyond knowledgeable.... They're there to answer questions, but also allow you to take in everything they offer including potting soil, pots and planters of various shapes and sizes. It's a shop for any plant inquirer.... Needless to say as a plant parent/plant dad... I've already been in twice so I'm definitely hooked. The parking in the area is what it is if you frequent the area. We got super lucky with a spot right in front, after two circles around the block. We weren't able to spot anything for the shop in back, possibly reserved for employees only, however you can get lucky depending on the time of the day. Customer for life. Had SDG come out last year to redo my dirt patch of a front yard. They did an amazing job. Fast fwd a few months we noticed a small crack in the concrete (not a huge surprise given we're in so cal). I pinged Alex about some mitigation options and without hesitation he offered to help. Within a week he was out taking measurement, photos and scheduled the comp fix. Shortly after he had the whole team out refreshing the entire yard and its right back to looking like new. This company is one of the worst experiences I have had in my life. Chris sold us on a beautiful layout that we spent a lot of money on after he made me feel we did not which is a separate slimy sales issue. Our beautiful new landscape is covered with Weeds and dead plants and we have had no support since besides offering to do the monthly maintenance for another $500 a month. The team that did the work is great but you can not get Christo to respond or even talk to you about the warranty that we were assured we had. My opinion is they sell you on this fancy landscape and then offer 0 support or service. These photos are only half of what we sent to Chris and have another 15 pictures can share. My suggestion is to read other reviews but take your business elsewhere. We are considering legal action given that this was a very high dollar amount. There are 5 others that I have met in the past two weeks who have had the same experience and are all looking to do the same. read more
