Instead of just telling me "no" like the others, he chatted with me...explaining how some succulents are created as a hybrid for one season and often are hard to find again. When I drove here, I was created by Anthony Gardner, a cheery, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and helpful guy who showed real interest in my needs. And I wound up buying three plants for different areas in my garden. Two plants that I needed in multiple flats were sent to one of their many locations closer to me, so I didn't need make that long drive again. I'm SO glad I did. I ended up taking home three milkweed plants, and they were exactly what I was looking for. Luis made the experience. He was welcoming from the beginning and actually took the time to walk me around the nursery instead of just pointing me toward a section and sending me on my way. He answered my questions, showed me the different plants, and you could immediately tell how much care and dedication he puts into this place. One of the biggest reasons I'll be returning is that the plants are not treated with pesticides. When you're buying milkweed specifically to support monarchs, that matters! The entire nursery also feels genuinely cared for -- the plants are well maintained, the watering setup is thoughtful, and there are tons of interesting and exotic varieties to look through. Even before I arrived, Luis was helpful. I called to make sure they had milkweed available, and he answered the phone and was incredibly approachable. They looked great when first planted. But then they began shriveling and dying. Unbeknownst to my landscaper and me, these Eugenia shrubs are diseased and are dying. They were planted correctly and properly watered and fertilized. Vineland Nursery won't replace them because "they didn't grow them". The grower, they claim, is responsible, and mentioned that other customers had the same problem. This lack of due diligence in vetting the grower and their plants is unprofessional, and the onus is not on the customer. I expect full exchanges or a refund for my purchase.
