Why? because, she knew how to think around a problem, how to make an object if needed, how to work on a team, and how to listen to what the teachers had to say. 1) in 8th grade RWS students learn coding and they use computers, in fact, most Waldorf school grads are well above their peers in math and science, Why? because they know the beauty and why of math, not just the memorization of rote SOL questions. 2) Waldorf educated children write beautifully, they fall in love with verse, song and poetry early and are used to reciting and reading in public. 3) They can actually MAKE something, food, sewing, drawings, music, woodworking. Try teaching a group of college students at the nations top ranked school of art and design to make something.....I wish they were all Waldorf grads. 4) Waldorf students were a valued part of a class and school family, their voices were heard and respected, and they in turn hear others. They are unafraid to stand up to bullying or injustice. They do not judge others as less than worthy. Waldorf students are compassionate, they have not been hardened by a grinding rote school process with social dysfunction and cliques. Waldorf may not be for everyone, if your child has certain learning needs requiring support that only a big school system has, it won't be the answer for you. If you need constant support of your needs and to helicopter, it won't work for you, and it might just not fit your family, and that's ok, if it does work for you, embrace it!

My son is no athlete, but he got to play every sport including Varsity soccer, basketball, and golf. They begged him to play on the tennis team. The coaches are top tier and every kid can play building those important team building skills. My son has also been able to travel with the school to England, Italy, France, Germany, and Switzerland to meet students from around the world. He has also built great connections in Asia, India, and Norway. Im up in age and know the who you know and good connections will beat smarts every day of the week. Many of the kids come from successful business owners and when he goes to their houses he can see what hard work and a little risk can result in My son and his friends dont just talk about future jobs but what businesses they are going to build. Can you imagine what Millwood kids can put on their college applications compared to if I let him go to a regular school. They have high turnover in staff, especially teachers. The head of school and school principal are unprofessional and does not represent what this school says it represents. The curriculum is whitewashed and they do not like parent feedback, nor are they welcoming to new families. The administration gives me high school cliche vibes. I knew I should've left the moment the school principal told me that the parents that drove Mercedes, were the ones that paid little to no tuition. For the amount of money that you pay, there aren't any resources. It doesn't appear that money is being funneled back into the school. You literally have to pay for everything, including the curriculum. The unorganization is the worst I've ever seen. I didn't even know who my child's teacher was until the night before the first day of school. I had to research on Facebook the night before to see what she looked like. The head of school, I believe is the downfall to this school. I was in disbelief, when him and the principal were on social media making fun of a situation and calling me out of my name because I disagreed how they handled an assault! My previous review has been removed or hidden. In that review, I included screenshots of my claims. My advice, don't ignore the red flags- they are there in the beginning. While I can't speak on the education aspects as I simply don't remember, I can speak to all good it did for me on a social skills side, learned how to talk with other kids and the field trips taught me how to act out in public. I cannot recommend this school. We pulled our son out after he attended for 11 months. Our number…read moreone concern was our son's safety. We brought safety issues to the attention of the staff and directors multiple times. There were several occasions where we picked our son up and he had bruises or cuts that the teachers couldn't explain. At a minimum, once we pointed them out they should have been documented. The teacher would say she didn't see what happened. When I explained my concerns to a director, she said "That's just how the children play with each other". So there appeared to be a lack of concern for preventing or remedying the issue. Our son began to state that he didn't want to go to school. We didn't want our son to develop a negative perception of school or learning that could impact him later on. Primrose is very expensive, and for the money, parents should at least be assured that their children are safe. The last time I spoke to one of the staff members about the issue I said I wanted to take time to brainstorm and come up with potential solutions. I proposed volunteering in the classroom, but the idea was rejected. The rationale given was "state guidelines". At least one other parent was already volunteering; no other school we interviewed indicated that there were state guidelines that would prevent parents from volunteering. The secondary concern was our son's kindergarten readiness. If he was indifferent about attending and worried about whether another child was going to hit or harass him, he would be unable to focus. Also, although I think the balanced learning approach works for some children, it wasn't what our son needed to get him ready for kindergarten. Two other schools we interviewed have children our son's age reading and spelling three to five letter words. That wasn't happening at Primrose. For the reasons above, I can't recommend Primrose.

In summary we experienced inaccurate information from the director, an abscense of supervision in the classroom that resulted in injuries, a lack of updates in the daily portal, and an overall lack of parent/teacher communication. We expressed concerns with the lack of structure in the classroom and behavior issues among several kids (ours included). We were told on various occasions "The 2 year old room is chaos" and "The staff is overwhelmed." We were also told our child is copying the other kids and just going through a phase by a teacher's assistant when we would check in. After multiple kids were placed on "behavior plans" (ours included) we were told our child hasn't shown enough improvement in behavior and we will need to leave with a week's notice. The very next day our child was pushed to the ground, climbed on and scratched all over his neck and face by another child. We were told the incident "Got rough, and the other child is on a behavior plans and was sent home for the day". We are at a new daycare and seeing their day to day operation, I am so impressed by how the classroom operates calmly and smoothly throughout the day. There is proper supervision in the classroom and we have not had any behavior issues with our child or any other child at our new school/classroom. There was no structure, leadership, guidance & supervision in the 2 year old classroom at Bundle of Joy.
