Merritt is a ghost town on Sunday…read more Being from Vancouver, I bounced out of the motel at a chipper and squirrel-like 10am and strolled down to the ten or so streets that make up downtown Merritt expecting to take my pick of brunch places. I tend to assume small towns are churchy because I watch a lot of movies and documentaries based from the USA, so I had visions of post-church families in crowded diners eating adorable meals and drinking tea. This is not so. There was nothing open. Except fast food, the Coldwater (I'll review that one later,) and Mandolin's which is near the grocery store. They had cornered the market, so I thought they didn't really need to try anymore. But holy hell, their bagel melt was awesome! They roast the turkey themselves, then add dill cream cheese, some onions, peppers, lots of cheese, and maybe other stuff, I lost track, but it is really good! Their coffee is good too.
