My wife and our dog recently went to visit Brattleboro and stayed here. I was pretty surprised at…read morethe room rate which was a last minute booking still $350 for a single night which included $35 fee for the dog. Hotel is in a great location and in a cool deco style old theater building. The room had a record player that was a nice touch. Unfortunately we found it to be quite dirty especially the floors and windows. It felt a bit like a prison cell to be honest. Very loud with doors slamming in the hallway. The bathroom definitely needs an update despite being billed as authentic and vintage. For the money I can't recommend staying here. Maybe the other rooms are nicer b/c we were in a pet-friendly room, but we're not heading back.

They even threaten to charge a huge fee if you smoke in your room, while the filthy housekeepers are on the street smoking every 5 minutes. Our first room hadn't even been cleaned yet. We were given a free upgrade and while the towels and sheets looked fresh- the bathroom and rest of the furniture in the bedroom hadn't been cleaned in what looks like ages. The bathroom still had dirt and popcorn on the floor. The nightstands and refrigerator had visible dust everywhere. The bathtub is peeling and can't be used. The carpet is so disgusting we didn't take our shoes off. Gross place. Too bad- nice idea. Old is ok, but clean it.

We found the Vermont Marketplace & Bar 580 on our way out of town, a mix of shops all in one big…read morespace. It was a Monday 3:45pm hard to find many shops open in Brattleboro, or this area. We did stop at The Marina to eat but stood at the host desk waiting for someone to greet us for 10 minutes and we just kept being ignored by servers walking thru so we decided to walk out of The Marina and keep going. (Note to self, make Mondays in Vermont for driving, or nature, & less to-do activities). At Bar 580 a really friendly bartender/server made for a very welcoming experience. Sorry I didn't catch his name. The menu had a lot of burgers and sandwiches and salads. We had a tasty Ruben sandwich, great fries and a bowl of 580 Mac n cheese (with bits of diced jalapeño pepper and creamy local Grafton cheddar cheese! This was great tasting casual dining. For fun we enjoyed playing billiards on the 2 smaller tables up front. The sun-streaming & huge outdoor space on the back patio looked inviting, facing the woods and a fire pit. (but I request better seating other than only the picnic tables please) Thanks again to the Monday afternoon bartender for the friendly Vermont hospitality! Oh and make sure to visit the shop across the way for fun souvenir items before heading home.

When I first started coming to Brattleboro, I stumbled in this store. I had no idea what to expect…read more Greg, the owner, greeted me immediately. From the very start, he was so kind and very welcoming. He engaged in casual conversation with me in the most comforting and friendly way. He was adorable and sweet. I was just looking around and seeing what they had and he acted like I was the most important customer. I had no intention of buying anything - since I was just window shopping that day, but I really wanted to support him and his business and ended up purchasing a very cute pair of elephant earrings. Since then I've seen Greg around and have come to find he's just a wonderfully kind man. You definitely want to check this place out. It's full of fascinating, exquisite, and beautiful art and sweet little gifts. Support local business and the wonderful people like Greg that help to make this world a better place!

Just ask. Anything. Seriously, ANYTHING. This is a high end boutique that offers locally created jewelry, glass, sculpture, pottery, wood stuffs, paintings, photographs, some furniture, and textiles. Attached to the shop are two more shops: 1. The Kitchen Sync - amazing kitchen store - gadgets, electrics, glassware, barware, tableware, cookbooks, tons of cool kitchen stuff, great for gifts. 2. Gallery 2 - the upstairs art gallery. Much of this is local art and some consignment. A couple other things... - Free gift wrapping. I wrapped SOOO many gifts in high school that I am totally a master at it now. I can make a seriously impressive bow with a couple feet of ribbon. Sweet. - Will ship your purchases anywhere you want. - If you see something you sort of like but not quite, say something to an employee and they will check if something more to your preference can be special ordered. - The bathroom is less than impressive and therefore supposedly for employees only, but if you ask the right person s/he will let you in it. Don't judge the lavender paint job - I did it myself.
