Super convenient located near the hotels. This is like an upscale minimart filled with the essentials you forgot you needed...beverages, snacks, sandwiches, sushi, wines, souvenirs, toiletries. Located in the middle of the gateway on the main drag the store is hard to miss. I first noticed the pocky sticks, local kettle corn, ready to eat sandwiches, hot bar, and the variety of drinks. There's a lot of stuff in this store and at times you kind of think of this store as maybe an upscale version of the local mini mart because of the type of items they carry. After wandering the aisles to pick up carbonated beverages, mini ham sandwiches, arugula and other snacks you realize the prices are reasonable. Cashiers are friendly but not overbearing letting you wander the store in peace. Everything is clean and neatly displayed. Great store. Good variety of items- some familiar and from you. The best one ice cream sandwiches are really the best. I really like them. However, Nana's banging caramel melts are awful. I bought a guacamole and a tuna salad from this deli. Unfortunately, neither was enjoyable. The guacamole had a strange taste. My fiancée said it tasted like paint. The tuna salad, which is made by the deli, had way too much pepper. I went back and asked the cashier for a refund. He called the manager, who asked what was wrong. I explained the issues with both items, and he told me he couldn't give me a refund because I simply "didn't like them." I understand that a business may have a refund policy, but for a $10 purchase, I would have expected at least a little customer service or a gesture of goodwill. Instead, there was no attempt to offer any solution. I told the manager I wasn't happy with the experience. His response was simply, "Okay." It's not about the $10. It's about how a business chooses to treat a customer who has a legitimate complaint about products they prepared and sold. In this case, I found the customer service very disappointing. read more

Nice store in the middle of downtown SLC -- they have a good number of local options which I think is nice, and the hot food bar looked pretty good. They do run specials too and when it's for items you want...it's a pretty good deal. read more

I went to "the store", on a recent trip to Salt Lake City. I walked to it from where I worked since I wanted a few sodas to keep me going thru the day and wanted some breakfast since I was told it served hot food. I got the sodas and took a few breakfast items with me, they were pretty good. They aren't restaurant quality but they hit the spot especially on a frigid day Place is worth a look. read more

This ain't no grocery store, it's The Store (not to be confused with the level of pompousness that Ohio school whose mascot is a nut has calling itself "Thee"). The Store is a local neighborhood treasure much akin to a bodega that you'd find in a large urban city, and it's so much more than a grocery store. Of course they offer fresh produce and a variety of prepackaged national brand food items, but what sets The Store apart is its fresh daily prepared food items. From the salad bar, warm food bar, fresh baked goods, soda fountain and the dozens of take-and-bake food choices, this place is just different ... and so delicious. (And you've gotta try the house made restaurant style chips and salsa!!!) Hopefully my pics give you a glimpse into what's in store at The Store, but get in there and check it out for yourself. Oh, and this isn't a massive big-box store with a ginormous regional distribution center out in the middle of the desert somewhere; this is a family kitchen kinda place so don't come here thinking you'll get penny pinching bulk item prices. This place is a mixed bag. The prices are really high, but it's kind of in the neighborhood for convenience and I guess you exorbitant prices are the trick for convenience sake. Amidst the crazy prices there are some deals to be had. They sell a whole roasted chicken that's really very good. It's $4.99. I'm not sure how they do this but it's worth its weight in gold. They also serve fresh sushi, which is way better than most grocery store sushi that I've ever had and is not really badly priced either. Really, the best thing about the place is their hot food bar, which serves some of the best macaroni and cheese that can be purchased commercially and their spare ribs are really stellar also. They have a good selection of treats and baked goods so I'm certainly glad they're nearby. I wish that some of their prices weren't so prone to gouging, The staff is friendly and helpful and they pack a lot of variety into a small space while at the same time being well organized and clean, so it's not all bad. read more

I Came here for sushi while waiting for the movie to start. I was expecting the price is dramatically higher than a regular grocery store. However, their prices are so reasonable that I can't believe it. Great location and a variety of choices. The store is clean and the food is fresh. read more

I paid 10 dollars for flour water (gravy), hockey pucks (biscuits), and sponge with some sort of abomination formerly known as cheese on it (scrambled eggs). Honestly the hot breakfast bar was terrible. Really gross especially for 10 bucks a pound. The rescue mission could whip up a more appetizing meal. read more

I happened to be at the SLC Farmers market prior to The Store's actual grand opening, but on the first official day they were open, and as a fan of the original, it only made sense to stop by and check it out! If you are unfamiliar, they are a local grocery store, with a particular focus on local, specialty, and prepared foods, and even some home goods and gift items. As soon as I walked in, I was cheerily greeted by two employees, and as I turned the corner, another eagerly offered me a complimentary bath bomb from The Soap Lady! Aw! Everyone was so nice and excited for the opening, and I could feel it radiate through the store as I shopped. As far as selection goes, this location is just like the first. It does seem smaller, I think, at least it felt like they'd packed it VERY full. I was pleased to see wonderful Jacobsen salt and seasonings, a decent, if small, selection of fresh produce, loads of prepared foods, some cute bath and body stuff and candles, and lots more! One of the best parts of The Store is their support of local businesses, and they sell so many great area goodies, including Publik coffee and granola, V and Rebecca's Chocolates, Banbury Cross Donuts, Cakes de Fleur, June Pies, Leatherby's Ice Cream, Petra's Backstubchen, Amano Chocolate....okay, clearly I'm only noticing the sweet stuff, but suffice it to say they are killing it with the local game. Lastly, they had these amazing and hilarious Utah specific re-usable shopping bags (Green Jello! Funeral Potatoes!), and they were so spot on! They'd make any Utahn laugh, and would be a great souvenir or gift for the Utah lover in your life. Checkout was quick, and they had several registers, so it should always be that way. Shame on The Store. Kudos for having a sign that clearly states you must wear a mask... Upon entry seeing half the patrons not wearing masks, and when I expressed concern to the 20 something cashier, the response from her was, "well you can say something if you want". Um.... NO. read more

The store is an amazing local carrier of everything great. My husband and I have a candle business which started as a hobby of me loving candles and starting to make them. It is officially an LLC registered in 2018 and it is called be light candle co. I immediately wanted to be apart of this store and have them carry our candles. I have to reach out to the manager who gave me his card while we were doing an event at the gateway. An amazing, awesome local store with unique Utah only items & much more! I liked The Store. It's really the only grocery store in the area...it's very small and hidden...you might miss it. I wouldn't shop here for everyday basics, but for an occasional splurge...reminded me a little bit of Trader Joe's with all the specialty products. Was disappointed as their hot food bar was all closed up at peak hours on a weekend evening. Also their gelato bar was not staffed. I wanted to order some but couldn't. Prices tend to be high as well. A single Greek yogurt was over $5...ridiculous. I could get a Fage yogurt at Whole Foods for $1. Overall despite the high prices, it's not a bad option for specialty products. read more

This store is honestly the best. It reminds me of the little stores in NYC. They have a hot food section that has yummy mash and chicken strips. They also have all these cute Utah (Utah business) little gifts and stickers that I love buying and sending them to my family in California. I'm so happy this place open so close to where I live and it makes it that much easier to pick something up then driving all the way to Harmons. The Store ended the requirement that employees wear masks immediately after the legislature forced SLCounty to end its mandate. I was recently there and saw no employees in masks because they were told "we don't have to." I checked with Harmons, Dan's and Macey's and they all require their employees to wear masks so I'll be shopping at a store that shows more consideration for the safety of its customers. read more
