2 years ago I would give in Eddie five stars. He was really good at cleaning and servicing my old pellet stove. When I bought a new pellet stove from him he installed it and came out a couple of times when it was having problems. Neither time was he able to fix the problem in question. The last time which was February 2025 he said he needed to order a part for me and would come out and install it. Have not heard from him since. Numerous texts, phone calls and basically he's ghosting me. It seems that he doesn't want to work on a stove that he sold me. Very disappointing. read more

A follow up on the disappointing work the Stove Doctor did. See our previous review. Turns out that my stove pipes needed a good cleaning. I mean that's all it needed! We didn't need to pay hundreds of dollars for the Stove Doctors work. They didn't need to pull the stove out to do repairs. So glad that we fired them. Next time I will wait for a better company to help us. It makes sense that we have to wait for quality service from a good company. That's why the better companies have more business. It's unbelievable how these people can stay in business. They have difficulty showing up and then when they finally do they do terrible work. read more

If I could give a negative star I would. Much like the rest of the health care in Humboldt County, the Stove Doctors should be avoided if at all possible. Go out of the area for competent honest service. My experience didn't start out this way but it morphed into a horrible experience. My 90 year old dad and 86 year old mom rely on a pellet stove for their main source of heat. It died last winter. I called the Stove Doctors to come take a look. They got right on it. They came and diagnosed the problem. They replaced the mother board and control panel with "new" parts for right around $1200. It died within a day. They called them back and they rushed right out saying it was the low limit switch and ordered a new one. He never came back. My mom found a company out of Texas that deals with her brand of stove. She end up sending the "new" parts as well as her old ones to be tested. Guess what? The "new" mother board wasn't new. That's why it failed. They repaired my mom's original one for $300 and the stove has worked perfectly. Stay away from the Stove Doctors. It's ok to not know everything about all products, but don't rip off our elders. I cannot in good conscience recommend this business. This business totally abandoned my 95 year old mother on the repair of her pellet stove. The owner suggested that he could take her stove to his shop and completely go through the stove cleaning it, painting it, replace the fans and the auger motor. The stove is 20 years old. After reinstalling the stove it worked for 6 hours. The side glass fell out because it was only taped in place! The fire box glass door glass fell out immediately after it was reinstalled. The owner stated he would not charge for a new auger motor since the existing one was replaced less than a year ago! He charged her for the new auger motor as he indicated on the invoice. The stove has not worked since mid October! Owner will not answer phone calls or respond to voicemail or text messages from my mom or my myself. My mom depends on the pellet stove since the cost of gas heat is more expensive. This owner will answer his phone if he doesn't recognize the caller. Friend called and he answered and was willing to make an appointment the next day. So it is clear this business has no honor in completing this job he was hired to do. I Researched his business and found similar problems when confronted with a difficult problem. So we are now approaching a new year with a none working pellet stove. And she is out $1800.00 in repairs only to have a dead pellet stove. Yes there is more to this story but would take up to much time and space on yelp to give the whole story. Appealing to his Surety Bond but don't expect much there because it was cancelled during part of the year until he obtained a new Bond in early December. Multiple trips to replace a defective part. Now the blower, which worked fine before, does not work. A lot of money spent and still dont have an operable fireplace. The Stove Doctors serviced our wood stove once a couple of years ago or so and did fine. However, as other reviewers have noted Eddie (owner) has apparently become unreliable. I called him on October 25th to schedule two wood stove inspections and cleanings on the same property. He said he had a cancellation and could come out the next morning between 9:30 and 10:30. He texted me at 9:35 AM that morning and apologized that he would have to cancel because one of his technicians was sick. Eddie assured me via text he could reschedule for Friday, November 4th. When he didn't show up on the morning of November 4th, I called him and he claimed he had me down for Friday November 11th and not the 4th. (Untrue--I reviewed our text message exchange in which he clearly stated we were scheduled for the 4th, not the 11th). Eddie or his technician was again supposed to arrive between 9:30 and 10:30 on the 11th. Just after 9:00 AM that morning, he texted me stating his technician was sick (again), he didn't have another that was free, and he himself was unavailable as he was leaving out of town on a trip. He offered to reschedule again for the following Tuesday. Given that this was now the third time in less than three weeks that he'd failed to follow through, I declined his offer and have moved on to a more reliable chimney sweep service. Unfortunately, we'll now have to wait another 5 weeks to have our stoves serviced (inconveniences stacked on yet more inconveniences). I'm sure Eddie is a nice guy, but I feel compelled to offer this frank and cautionary review based on our most recent experiences. read more

I have texted and called Eddie numerous times to check my gas fireplaces after the earthquake on 12/20. Found out via his FB account he was in Hawaii on a nice vacation, while it snowed here and we were without heat. I've purchased two gas fireplace stoves from Eddie at The Stove Doctors. Eddie is a great guy is easy to talk to and to do business with. Our second stove was higher end and had many functions. We were having trouble with a faulty function and contacted Eddie. His lead worker, Chris, came out (50 miles) to troubleshoot the issue. Chris was diligent, explained how he was going to approach the issue, and took great care in systematically isolating the problem. Chris found the issue and ultimately replaced the faulty part. The stove has worked flawlessly since. Chris also serviced our other stove while he was here and replaced some worn parts to get it ship shape. Eddie and Omar were not able to come out at the same time as the roofer, so after installing our woodstove they agreed to come back at the end of the week when they could coordinate with the roofer for the final installation of the chimney. They spent hours that first day getting the stove and chimney pieces in place, which meant they had to go up into the attic space through a hole in the ceiling, with no flooring to step on, and make their way across the joists. We are building this house without a heat source, and it had been raining and very cold for weeks! Having functioning woodstove at long last was a HUGE imporovement. Our only comcern with the installation was that there were a couple of very small dings in the enamel coating on the stove, in places not highly visible, which may have happened in the transport at some time (it's hard to say); it's a 520 pound stove and not easy to maneuver. Eddie showed me how to put the enamel repair paint that came with the stove on the knick and it's just fine. We definitely would recommend The Stove Doctors. read more

I have never written a poor review but I want to forewarn others. Get an estimate to compare since I got soaked for double of what was a very simple job. He is the ultimate salesman and I thought such a nice guy wouldn't charge us a huge amount of money for very little actual work and they left all the trash and full vacuum bag in our recycling bin. Every time we asked a question, the answer would be completely different from the last time he answered it. He is a nice guy so we were bamboozled on the price. We both feel a bit stupid when it was all over. But from other reviews it seems we were lucky to get the work done. I think we were an easy job and he charged us way above premium for very little work. Our fault. Don't be fooled by how nice he is. At least get an estimate from another installer. I hope this helps someone else. Nice sometimes is just a front for someone reaching into your wallet. Sad. read more

Well it started off good! I called the Stove Doctors (Eddie) when I was purchasing a wood pellet stove. He said he would install the stove when it came in. When the stove came in, he was Eddie on the spot, great person, his employee was great. Eddie had a blank canvas to install the stove. I had him install a zero clearance box and they installed it on top of plywood that I had put down. He never told me that the plywood would make the stove feet not sit on the ground. After installing the stove, I had to tile the wall before they finished, this was not an issue as he said he'd just come back and finish when I was done. I called and he scheduled the finish install, and he sent his employee to finish the surround. His employee stated this was beyond him and he called Eddie. I was told they would be back the next day or day after. Three weeks later and many phone calls and texts, Eddie text me back. They came the following week to finish the surround. Well I'm writing this review because to me they are not as good as they say they are. They couldn't figure out how to install the surround and have it attached to the wall so there is a 1/2 inch gap on the top between the stove and tile, and the feet are 1 inch above the tile. Eddie and his employee were nice and polite, but that doesn't take care of the non communication and lack of knowledge to properly install a stove. read more

The first company had left big gaps in the sealant so that rain was leaking into my attic causing water damage and the flute not mounted properly . Called up the Stove Doctors to come out fixed everything that NorthCoast Chimney Sweep had done wrong . they did a great job on repairing everything . Eddie even texted me a few weeks later to make sure it still wasn't leaking . Our old Lopi gas stove had gotten progressively less reliable over a period of several months. My husband called Stove Doctors and got an appointment several days out, which was great. I knew from my past efforts that the part had been discontinued and told him so. He insisted that he could find something, not a problem. I waited, pandemic raging. Finally, left messages, one stating that I hoped his family and he were well. One never knows these days. Then shipping routes were closed due to fire. I waited. Started calling more often, just looking for a straight answer. Not one call was returned. By Sept 3, it was clear that he was a lost cause.
