We saw Taylor. She is very nice and my daughter's hair turned out beautiful but I called to ask what the cost would be. They told me $108. Then when I went to pay they charged me $168 and said that they had to include styling even though I didn't ask for it. She said they don't do just highlights but they don't tell you that on the phone. The price that a business quotes someone should be the price that they actually charge. If some other service has to be included then they should say that when you ask for a price. When I complained about it they weren't willing to do anything. Professional service, keeps me coming back. When I was new to Hattiesburg I tried 2 other salons before I started coming to the Studio. A friend had recommend it to me. It took me 3 visits of trying the different stylists to find the one that I like best, but each time I was pleased with my haircut so I kept coming back. Now I ask for Kasha every time. I have straight, but thick hair and she does a great job cutting it to make it more manageable. She is also very friendly, but not nosy like I feel hair stylists sometimes are. It is a little expensive, but not ridiculously so. It's worth it! If you sign up for their emails you can get special email deals like 15-20% off last minute appointments for that week. I am a college student, so I take advantage of this! I have also had a pedicure done here by Kayla, she does wonderful work and is also very friendly. I have recommend a friend to the Studio for a haircut and she was happy with the results as well. Sometimes I do have to wait, even if I am on time for my appointment, but I have never had to wait more than 10-15 minutes. Most of the time I wait about 5 minutes or so. By the way, because they are an Aveda salon, when you check out and pay they will introduce you to the Aveda products that the stylist used on you. I have never felt pressured to buy these items, I just say no thanks. (My hair is pretty low maintenance.) Don't feel obligated to buy the Aveda products if you don't want to. . read more

Third strike out. They don't work on commission so they must not care if you come back. Last time I went in for a color a shade darker than my natural hue. She was still working on her previous client. She told an assistant what color to mix, put it on me and left me sitting for hours. Not exaggerating. I ASSUME the previous client requested a change that took a while, but SOMEONE should have checked on me. I had dye all over my forehead and cheeks, that did not come off. I ended up shaving my peach fuzz off because it was black. My hair was too dark. She cut it too short. She was rushing when she finally did get to me because everyone else had left for the day. I was there for one color process from noon until after they closed. read more

Lemme preface this by saying that I am pretty picky with my hair. It's thick, curly, and hard to cut. I used to drive to New Orleans just to get a decent haircut, but since school started back up I haven't been able to do this. Eventually I decided to just start getting it cut locally again, but go for low maintenance cuts. Cue The Studio. I've visited it three times so far, with three different people. The first visit was okay. I asked for an extremely simple close cropped haircut and it came out alright. Nothing special, but also definitely not worth the price. Next time I went in I asked for a fade. They scrambled around confused for a bit and eventually grabbed a woman who claimed she had been practicing fades and had just taken some classes on them. She was EXCELLENT (both in the personality and skill department) and I really wish I could remember her name. It came out exactly how I wanted, and I MIGHT try The Studio again just to see if I can get another appointment with her. Tonight, I went in asking for the same thing. A guy with an undercut came out and I got the impression he had no idea how to do a fade, so he had their "hair coach" walk him through it. She did half my head and he did the other half. It came out pretty terrible. I look like a King of the Hill character or something. They completely missed my description (I even brought a photo, come on) and went straight to military cut territory. When they finished the first half I mentioned how she had brought it up way too high and she sorta made a grumble as the guy quickly said "we'll take note of that," but the damage had already been done. I think they could tell I was displeased, as they kept mentioning how they offer complimentary touch ups within two weeks, but I get my fade down to a 0. It's not like they can touch up much, especially since they already cut it too high. Anyways, my main problems with this place are consistency and price. Hattiesburg is a small town, but it charges almost as much as a trendy uptown salon in New Orleans (with inconsistent results, depending on who you get). For some the bonuses like massages and tea might make up for it, but frankly I don't give a damn about those and just want to look good. As someone who has to get their hair cut pretty often, the cuts need to be top notch if I'm going to consistently pay a higher price than the average place. If money is no object and you can find a stylist who cuts your hair well there are no real issues, but I'm just not convinced their entire staff is up to the task. read more

Great place. I've had my hair worked on by several of the people there. The service is wonderful. But, by far, the best part of the place is the spa. Quite often, they run 50% off spa services deals. The massage therapist is amazing. A 60-minute massage, by an amazing masseur, for $30 is a steal. I've also had a pedicure and facial there by other licensed professionals. I chose this salon by Yelp ratings. It was dangerous, I was from out of town and had time on my hands, usually not a good combination. This place is FABULOUS. They were booked, but one stylist, Kasha, had a cancellation, so they worked me in. She was personable, competent and pleasant to visit with. I received a hand massage while she was cutting my hair, it was so relaxing. The massage therapist suggested places in Hattiesburg to visit and eat. As a new client, I received a certificate for a free massage when I visit again. My experience was wonderful & I will definitely visit when I'm in town. read more

This place is my 100% personal nirvana - and I seldom self-indulge. I guess I can be considered "a regular" now - We were new to town and I sought Aveda for its consistency and product integrity. ALWAYS - good results, pleasant, knowledgeable staff, and great consideration to time and need preferences. They even found an alternative salon when I REALLY needed a service, and they were closed for training. I am Team Studio Aveda now ... Thanks for a GREAT hair care place! read more

The new Zen room is a fantastic place to rest while waiting between treatments. They soaked my feet in a warm copper kettle bath, gave me a complimentary foot massage and otherwise helped me truly relax in this peaceful space. I had explained that had some health issuse and it made my hair dry and brittle and that it broke off easily. I was looking to get hair extensions and I did my research on the types that were good for fine hair because I had them before 9 years ago. I explained that they broke my air off and left bald spots after they came out. Well I went with the Vomor extentions after they told me there would not be a problem with then in my hair. And these are the ones i found to be the best for fine hair. 2 week in 5 came out called them and had them replaced the girl helping me this time noticed that there was lots my natural hair coming out. It was said that I had a lot of shedding. Which I do do to health reasons. As the sweet girl that was putting back in keep making faces as she brushed through my hair and looking at the other stylist. Well she get them back in and they were uneven compared to the other side but nothing that was to notice able. Now please know i thought that them coming out was my fault so I made sure I followed every instruction on them and even u tubed how to take care of them as well. Well a week and a half later 5 more cake out on the other side of my head. And I noticed several bold spots. Thank good I have a friend that lives 40 minutes away that has her own salon and she helped me get the rest of them out. My hair now looks worse than it did be for and I am so embarrassed that i don't even was to go out in public. I feel like I was taken advantage of because of my desperate need to make my hair look fuller due to my health and they wanted to make money. All in all with the extentions products and placing the ones that came I I spent $1,000 and all I am left with is a worse situation than when I went in. read more

I'll start with the positive - the customer service was good. Friendly staff. For the not so positive - I went in with short-medium hair that I was hoping to have reshaped into more of a bob (like it was before). One major problem was that it had grown out bottom-heavy (I have thick hair) and was flipping out. After the cut, I wasn't super satisfied, but thought it might look better after I styled it my normal way using a flat iron. Besides, it's always uncomfortable telling a stylist that you don't like what she's done. I was wrong, the thickness was still there and I had these boxy layers. Even after going back a second time to have another stylist fix the first attempt, I'm still not very happy with my hair. Overall, it's just not a cute cut; I don't feel confident walking around in it. The "touch up" helped, but I think it was too messed up from the start. It seems a little much to go back a third time. read more

I definitely did not get the 5-star treatment that other reviewers input!! Perhaps the owner, Lisa, was having an "off" day BUT she didn't do a thing to my hair that I asked of her. She did what she wanted totally!! To make things worse, she even told me that I was "too old" to have blonde hair and that because I was "older" that I should have darker hair!! She did tell me though that I definitely would keep most of the blonde highlights in my hair BUT unfortunately, that did not happen!! My hair is now an ugly "ash" color with little to no highlights (they even look gray)!! Haircut was average that someone right out of cosmetology school could have done (at a lower price OR maybe, they could have done better?). I even took pictures of the color I wanted (similar to what I had, just needed low lights) and she completely ignored the pictures as well!! Do not recommend this stylist at this salon (even though she's the owner)!! Had hair done another time there by Markus and he did a much, much better job than Lisa!! For some unknown reason, when I asked for him this time, the receptionist offered other stylists & not him. I wonder what's up with that?!! So, when I heard I was getting an appointment with the salon owner, I thought this person should be really exceptional (with 32 years of experience, she bragged). Needless to say, I am sadly disappointed and frustrated!! After I told her I wasn't happy with it, she DID try to fix it (so she said) by doing a so called "detox" treatment and that took a little of the gray look out but I still have the ugly ash color. Not only did I pay $170+ for this kind of treatment BUT now I have to spend more money to get it fixed!! Thought by all of the positive reviews, I could at least get close to what I wanted!
