Rhonda is the daughter of the original owner, and he was well known in the area, she stated. They have a nice photo to commemorate him with him having a big smile on his face . Old style family fish house…read more This is the type of place I came to love when I moved to the Piedmont back in the 1970's. We had a few of them back in the Mountains when I was growing up but here in the Piedmont, they were an institution. Not as popular as they used to be and some have closed but this is one of the best remaining ones. Located in Gaston County next to the South Fork River. It has they feel of a place where everyone is made to feel immediately at home. Like most fish camps, fried fish is the rule of thumb and theirs is excellent. Nice and crispy and while tartar sauce it the norm, I prefer either just lemon or malt vinegar. No problem. They also have fried oysters and fried chicken livers which I have had both as well as deviled crab. Portions are huge and I always end up taking the leftovers home. Staff is very friendly and helpful and place is immaculate. Service is great. Highly recommend.
