Read about this restaurant in sauce magazine and thought ok- need to try this place! It did not…read moredisappoint!! Got an order of fried pickles and they were outstanding. Deep fried pickle spears, crispy breading and a nice bite to them! All fried pickles are not made equally and these were some of the better ones I have ever had. Next I wanted to try the Cajun pasta with shrimp which was served over an entire smoked turkey leg. The meal was pricey at nearly $26 but the portion was HUGE!! Easily my to go box weighed 4 pounds. Enough for two or three people no doubt!! Shrimp shrimp was cooked perfectly, the smoked turkey leg was so tender you could simply eat it with a fork- and I did! The Cajun spice had good flavor and the entire dish was fun and delicious! Just because I had made a 30 minute drive to get here I thought I wanted to try some of the dirty rice as well. I don't eat pork at all and their dirty rice is made with beef. Again like everything else it was cooked well and had a good flavor. I got a full order and again the portion as you can see was huge. Rice was fluffy and had a good consistency- not to soft or mushy which sometimes happens with some places. The restaurant is basically a take out place only as they just have a window front to order. No tables to be able to eat inside. Everyone was very friendly and gracious and I would 100% recommend this place if you're interested in getting anything having to do with turkey. Glad I read about it and even happier I made the drive down. You will not be disappointed!!

My Mom had the very tender and delicious baked pork chop with gravy and dressing, mac&cheese and green beans. The line is long after church on Sundays, but they keep it moving, there's always somebody to converse with in line, and it's worth the wait! Carol Sue

We love the seasoning and skin on the fried chicken, it's perfect!!! The chicken is cooked well, tender and moist but yet still fried hard which we love to ensure the chicken is done. A huge disappointment was the beef ribs and rice pilaf, both lacking seasoning and substantial flavor. Yes, the beef ribs are fall of the bone but they are tasteless and over-priced for the quality. The corn bread is good. Another disappointing dish is the smothered pork chops. The porkchops do not stand up to the massive amount of gravy they are sitting in. It renders the porkchop lifeless and soggy and the gravy isn't seasoned to add insult to injury. The turn over is good, so it ensures the food is coming out hot-n-fresh, the staff do a good job at keeping the trays filled. It's worth a try to check out soul food in the STL

Just looking at the menu you'll think "ok, typical greasy spoon type place ". But they are much better than that and do take pride in what would appear to basic diner fare. I went with the buffalo chicken wrap and opted for onion rings instead of fries. The wrap itself was full of crispy crunchy chicken, with the right balance of lettuce tomato cheese. And the buffalo sauce brought just the right amount of heat. I couldn't put the thing down. But the star of the show was the onion rings. These are probably the best I've had and it'll probably be years before I have better. Perfect light and crispy, the right crunch, and the tender onion makes a clean break with every bite! You know what I'm talking about--when the rest of the onion wants to slide out of the rest of the ring? Atmosphere is charming and fits what you'd expect for this kind of establishment. Owner and staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Prices are reasonable. I'm looking forward to returning when the daily special is bacon wrapped meatloaf with mashed potatoes. Highly recommend.
