Similar to Papa Murphy's except better - and they're locally owned - 4 stars…read more I tried Dad's Halfway There Pizza for the first time. It was really good. My elderly mother recently moved to Park Rapids, and when she visited me in the Twin Cities, she brought along a Dad's pizza - good stuff. BTW, I love the humor in the written baking instructions! LOW CARB: I was thrilled to discover that it's easy to eat low carbohydrate carnivore style at Dad's. They have a Keto Pizza with no crust. (They also offer a cauliflower crust if, for some reason, you can't live without stuffing some plants in your gullet.) The crust-less pizza features all of your toppings, artfully layered in an aluminum baking pan. Of course, I got the meat lover's version of the Keto pizza. I noticed they layered the bottom with slices of ham too. Very clever. I loved it. If I lived closer, I'd be treating myself to the crust-less Keto pizza every week. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them and I'd eat there again any time. Support a local family owned business and eat some Dad's Halfway There Pizza. Thumbs up! -Maxx

The pizza wasn't too bad, but way overpriced. Possibly the most expensive I've eaten in a while. I ordered a medium House Pizza, and it was $33.06 for pizza that I picked up with a $4.00 tip. The pizza tasked okay. I would say a 6.5/10. Some of the olives were a bit stale, and the cheese was pretty thin, but the crust was good and the meat was spread evenly on all slices. One thing I did notice while sitting up front on the bench waiting for my pizza was the cleanliness, or lack of it. Watching the trash go out the front door was a bit gross, but a bigger issue was that, the floor was absolutely disgusting. It looked greasy, and dirt, crumbs and general filth was very noticeable below the counter and where the cheese, peppers and silverware is located. I peeked into the dining room, and it wasn't much better. For a restaurant with no customers dining inside, it says a lot when there are tables that have crumbs all over them and an area in desperate need of a vacuum and/or mop.

We didn't go into the arcade today. Staff were very courteous and friendly quick to greet us. I asked if they had a taco pizza and she quickly ordered me one and gave me a buzzer to let me know when it was ready. The pizza was a typical line up under lights of about 10 or more with cheese sticks, fried broasted chicken, loaded mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, mashed potatoes, potato wedges, dressing and chicken gravy, salad bar and a few deserts that looked very good, small chocolate chip cookie pizzas, cherry, apple and cactus desert pizzas, ice cream machine with vanilla soft serve. Ok, for the review, we got there about 1:00pm, lot of different varieties of pizza that looked like it had been sitting out for while, didn't want to even try it. (Yes in our personal opinion it was that bad) so I asked to have a taco pizza that took about 15 minutes, came out fresh and very good, thin crust with taco sauce, hamburger, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese Doritos crunched all over under the lettuce. On the buffet, loaded mashed potatoes were average with strong bacon flavor, dressing was like a stove top version, but then I like that occasionally, chicken gravy was good. Fried chicken was very very good, small pieces but tender juicy with a slight crunch. Salad bar looked fresh with a good selection as were the self serve drinks. Will we go back? Probably not, with other selections of better pizza in the area and as long as Marketplace Foods have their great fried chicken, no, but then they have the arcade which is fun for families with kids.

The crust was really good. We had both regular and thin crust. The amount of cheese on each pizza was out of this world Our server took our orders quickly. The pizzas took a little time to come out but it was worth it. The inside was busy but not crowded. There is a dog friendly patio but it was cool out so we didn't sit there. Parking was no problem because the downtown had already rolled up their sidewalks (ha ha). Over the years we haven't had very good luck with places to eat in walker. We will be back to Bensons to try some of their fare. Try it!

We can typically split a large (4 slices each) when hungry and the price point wasn't too bad for a lake town. Welllll the 18-inch was giant and we only ate half- be warned that the 14 inch was perfect for 2 hungry people, and the 18 inch would definitely feed 4 at least! Pros: pizza was pretty fast and yummy (especially after a day at the lake and driving up north), service was friendly, the boat table we sat at was neat. Cons: it took a while to be seated due to some confusion/ some parties waiting for their checks, it was very hot in the restaurant, bathrooms were pretty dirty (hair in the sink, trash overflowing, and no paper towel), and the pizza flavor was just meh. We ordered a pizza with pineapple, jalapeño, and buffalo chicken but the pineapple tasted canned and the chicken wasn't saucy and flavored. It hit the spot but wasn't anything to write home about. Would have been better with a drizzle of ranch or barbecue.
