If I could give no star are still write a review I would, I asked for 2 plain bean Burritos, nothing on them and I get 2 meat. Burritos loaded with onions, cheese and hot sauce. I'm fine with that. It's still food. I'm gonna eat it. I get an entire chunk of the butt of an onion in my burrito, disgusting. read more

I'd rather be hungry than eat here. The service was fine but the food is unfortunately horrible.

First off, I'm giving two stars ONLY because the person who took my order and helped at the take-out window was friendly and cordial. If I could give the food itself 1/2 a star, I definitely would!! I'm not a local, but I know what Mexican take out should taste like, especially tacos and burritos. I ordered the beef and bean chimichanga plate and my wife ordered chicken hard tacos. The chimichanga has beans, ground beef, and cheese on the inside and is smothered with sour cream, green onion, olives, and some mild salsa. It also comes with some beans and rice. Ok, so just about everything is either canned, boxed, or processed. The beans are canned refried beans and the rice totally came from a box, it was dried out and super salty. The salsa tasted like a jar of Old El Paso. The only thing that was decent was the ground beef, which had some flavor (which deserves the 1/2 star!). Here's one thing about authentic Mexican food....we don't use olives as a topping on ANYTHING!! I don't know if that's a Tex-Mex thing, but it's just gross....stop doing that!!! The chicken tacos were also a dud.....I was expecting freshly fried corn tortilla shells, especially because it was taking a minute for the order to come out, but they were boxed, processed shells. Something that you can get from Taco Bell. Chicken tacos usually consist of juicy, seasoned shredded chicken, so when you bite the taco, the juice runs down your hand and it's so delicious.....but this was just some sliced chicken breast seasoned with cumin and pepper. It was so bland and topped with lettuce, cheese, and more jarred salsa just made it even more underwhelming!! We were both definitely disappointed with the entire experience. The Coke was pretty much the best part of the meal!! Understanding there are limited options for authentic Mexican food in the area, this place could make a killing if they would bring someone in who actually knew how to cook Mexican food. Fresh and homemade is the key. Fresh refried beans are not difficult to make, as well as homemade corn tortillas and a couple of simple salsas. If they just made those changes, the difference in quality would be like night and day!! I hope the people from this establishment who read this review to not take it as negative, this is just some constructive criticism from a foodie who knows they could do much better!! This place is only in business because of the locals or former locals (see glowing reviews), and god help you if you speak out against it but I'll take my chances. This used to be a Taco John's but is now a shack, and it's really the perfect name for it. The interior hasn't been remodeled since the 70s. Cleanliness is iffy. They do one thing right and that is getting to flavor your own pop. Vanilla coke is decent. But I'm not a big pop drinker. What I can not understand is the food. It's the most generic and bland stuff I've ever seen or tasted and that is on their best day! Drive through always takes forever. And they have never once gotten an order right. Not. Once. My being vegetarian seems to greatly confuse them. I have been so specific both at the window and at the counter inside and yet each time there is meat on whatever I asked for...even on a simple bean burrito! Then they look at me like I'm crazy when I point that out. I know eastern Montana is not vegetarian friendly but this place absolutely takes the cake with being confused/closed-minded and even judgmental about it. It shouldn't be so hard to just leave meat off. And don't get me started on their most famous offering. The "Emit". Tater tots, mystery meat hamburger, shredded cheese and nacho cheese poured over the entire thing. When you see it, it speaks for itself. Unlike other drive through places in town like Flips, this place doesn't seem to put any more effort into their work then is absolutely necessary. It may sound like I'm judging a fast food place harshly but I say all this going in with almost zero standards and still coming out disappointed every time. Much like with many things in Glasgow, I will never get the local appeal of "the Shack." But people seem to like it out of loyalty, very few culinary standards, and so little options (especially for drive through) in town. read more

It is kind of slow especially with 3 or more orders trying to get food. Food is good workers can mess up your order or forget something frequently, but most of the food is really good. Best drinks in town! read more
