Plating is always nice. Many wines by the glass. Very good service and friendly staff and owners. Mount Shasta is fortunate to have many good restaurants. This one is a little more expensive than the others on main street. If you want a burger, go to one of the other places. If you are looking for an elevated meal in an unpretentious environment check out Baldovinos. This is the best place in town and I would put them up against the top restaurants in big cities. And, if you are from one of those big cities you will think the prices are low. Secret - not on their website as of writing this review. They are open for Sunday brunch from 10am - 2pm with a wonderful menu of dishes from sweet to savory. We have hit this twice now and had excellent meals both times.

Brunch at Baldovino's Wine Bar & Kitchen, Mt. Shasta, CA…read more We had an excellent Sunday brunch at Baldovino's Wine Bar & Kitchen, and it was exactly the kind of relaxed, elevated meal you hope for. The restaurant has a stylish, cozy vibe--dark walls with beautiful local artwork. The Sunday brunch menu is thoughtfully curated with a nice mix of savory and sweet options, all sounding fresh and seasonal. We started with a bottle of Campo dei Sassi Prosecco (extra dry, Treviso) and with pomegranate and orange juice mimosas. The Prosecco was crisp, bubbly, and perfect for brunch--light enough to pair with everything without being too sweet. For the main event, I went for the daily special: Crab Cake Benedict. It was outstanding. Two perfectly poached eggs sat atop a crispy crab cake and thick cut sourdough covered in a rich, glossy hollandaise sauce with capers. The herb-roasted potatoes on the side were golden and perfectly seasoned--crispy on the outside, fluffy inside. The dish was beautifully plated with microgreens and herbs, and it tasted every bit as good as it looked. My husband ordered the Cubano (also a special), which came as a pressed, golden-toasted sandwich loaded with ham, melted cheese, and a perfectly lightly fried egg on excellent local sourdough-style bread. It was served with more of those fantastic herb potatoes and looked incredibly satisfying--crispy, gooey, and classic with a brunch twist. Portions were generous, the service felt attentive and warm, and everything came out hot and fresh. The menu also had tempting options like Tomato Basil Mozzarella Scramble, Chive Biscuit & Sausage Gravy, Avocado Toast, Croque Monsieur, and sweets like French Toast and Dutch Baby--plenty to choose from for future visits. Overall, Baldovino's delivers a high-quality, flavorful brunch in a charming setting. The food is creative without being fussy, the drinks hit the spot, and the whole experience feels special yet comfortable. Highly recommend if you're in Mt. Shasta--perfect for a leisurely Sunday brunch meal with a glass (or bottle) of something bubbly. We'll definitely be back!

We were welcomed by Lindsey and a couple regular customers. It's a cute little place with a small, but mighty selection of wines personally picked out by the owners. I loved to hear how they travel around California and Oregon looking for new wine options. I was able to sip before committing, which is always appreciated. My husband is more of a beer drinker, and again a small selection, but nice choices for those non wine drinkers. If you need a pick me up, they also had locally roasted coffee. They do have some little snacks as well. We had such a nice experience that we went back the next day. Lindsey gave us some great recommendations for trails and for a nice dinner in Mt. Shasta. We ended up using most of her recommendations - all which were great! If you are looking for great wine and service, this is definitely the spot. We will definitely be back if we are in the area again!

Bar Juillet: Where Perfect Cocktails Meet Perfect Fried Chicken…read more Bar Juillet has quickly become one of our absolute favorite go-to spots in Ashland and Southern Oregon. It all starts with the best fried chicken you'll find anywhere in the region. Hands down. This restaurant and cocktail bar delivers on every front. The cocktails are crafted with real skill and balance, and their wine list is outstanding a thoughtful mix of local favorites and world-renowned producers that shows just how seriously they take their program. I've eaten here multiple times, and one thing you can always count on is consistency. The service is warm and attentive, the food is always executed beautifully, and the atmosphere makes it easy to settle in and enjoy the night. They do get busy on weekends, so reservations are smart, but even if you end up waiting, it's absolutely worth it. And if you can grab a seat at the bar, do it. The bartenders here make it an experience all on its own. Reliable, delicious, and truly one of Ashland's standout spots. Bar Juillet never disappoints.

As a chef at two James Beard-winning restaurants, a server, owner, and consultant, I have dedicated my life to the food industry and the people within it. I'm from Ashland, and I was so happy when places like this started showing up in my hometown. Good food and atmosphere can be so hard to find. Coming home to Ashland can be a true oasis for my family. My wife and I have made it our life's mission to make our daughter feel equal and included. Our daughter was born with a rare condition called AMC and does not have normal function in any of her limbs. She currently spends 3-4 days a week in physical therapy to continue building strength so her body and organs can function properly. We were visiting family at the park and suggested stopping in for a beverage and snacks to escape the heat after a long day. We typically plan everything ahead to ensure wherever we go can accommodate my daughter's wheelchair and needs. When we arrived, we thought, "Wow, perfect, she can wheel right in and up to one of the many open tables." Once we were "greeted" by the host, I realized we were not who she wanted to deal with. Three kids, three adults, a stroller, and a wheelchair. She looked like she wanted nothing to do with us, like we were dirt on her shoe. "No reservation," she said. I replied, "Yeah, so sorry, we figured since it was a Monday night right when you opened, and there were only two two-tops seated, we could probably find somewhere to sit." I reassured her we would not stay long enough to impact reservations at the larger front tables, which usually have reserved markers on them but did not at the time. We could all feel that she didn't want to seat us, and we left despite me practically begging to make something work for us, because I know she could have if she wanted to. Being from the industry, I understand what kids can do to an atmosphere, and I know a lot of restaurant workers don't enjoy dealing with other people's children. But when we went outside and my daughter cried and said, "They didn't want me there" So I loaded my daughter's wheelchair back into the car so I could carry her up the stairs at Brickroom, where one employee was working the entire place and took amazing care of us, I might add. We resorted to a booster seat for my daughter since she couldn't use her wheelchair there. She ended up falling out of the seat and slamming onto the hardwood floor. She cried and was embarrassed. The young man tending bar while also waiting every table rushed over with a bag of ice to comfort her. It was honestly touching how kind he was. When we left Brickroom, we had spent more time there than we originally intended to spend at Bar Juliet. As we walked back by Bar Juliet, we noticed the restaurant was still only about half full, and one of the large front tables had remained open the entire time from around 4:10 until 5:40 when we walked by again. I had to stop and ask the host why she couldn't have seated us considering that table never filled. Her only explanation was, "Our kitchen is slow getting food out." Such an incredibly weak excuse. I hope she understands she was wrong and that she made my daughter feel unwanted simply because accommodating us wasn't convenient for her. I have never left a review in my life, but I was so saddened and disgusted by this experience that I felt I had to.
