A wonderful gem in Yreka! We were traveling from Santa Rosa to Portland and stopped in Yreka for the night. Walked around the historic district but didn't find anyplace that looked attractive. Then we made to the wine bar & Bistro. It was welcoming, busy with a good crowd, but we were served immediately. Our server avoided our table like we had the plague. I've never had to chase down my change until going to the wine bar. I am beyond happy that a quaint gem like this exists in this town! Sunshine is the lovely soul that runs this place and serves as well. The staff is incredibly friendly and make you feel like family. There is a wide range of great wines to choose from, these alternate a bit based on availability and customer feedback. I have been here a couple of times to work online and be social. The food is wonderful, the chef really knows how to put together a delightful charcuterie board and create a delicious flat bread pizza (the one with the black cherries and balsamic vinaigrette). There are weekly perks like Wednesday nights is ladies night (gals get half off, ask about it)! They also are likely live music on weekends with local talent! We decided on our road trip back from Seattle to stay on this quaint little town for a night. This was a gem to find. The owners were very sweet first of all so I love great hospitality. The food was as tasty as it looked. I got the BLT salad which unfortunately she didn't have any tomatoes at the time but they offered to put tons of other different types of vegetables on it for me which I happily accepted, it was delicious and filling. My boyfriend's mother also got a salad both are pictured she loved it. He got the buffalo flatbread pizza. I didn't get a picture cause he ate it to fast. It is a small menu but I'd go back in a heart beat. We got the house Cab very reasonable in price and was the perfect wine for us as an evening cap. This is the place in Yreka to eat. Delicious spinach salad with Feta, dried cranberries, apple and vinaigrette dressing. We shared 2 of their small plates. Meatballs with Thai sauce and a chicken with cheese spicy dip served with fresh vegetables and chips. Both were terrific. Shared a bottle of nicely priced Pinot Noir. Twilight Zone Traveling through the state we decided to stop in Yreka. I looked on yelp for a good place to go and saw the Wine Bar and many 5 star reviews. Walking in it felt like we were interrupting someone's private party. We were not greeted and the woman behind the bar never cracked a smile nor had any knowledge of the wine on the menu. She was sitting behind the bar in a chair, sitting across from another woman eating! We were interpreting her meal! I've never seen someone behind a bar sitting down and eating! Twilight Zone! Other than a table of 9-10, the two of us and another couple the place was not busy on a Friday at 7:00pm. The table of 9-10 people were close to the front of the bar being very loud. One woman had such a crazy loud cackle that I felt the need to cringe and want to cover my ears. The couple beside us at the bar got up with their drinks and went as far back into the bar as they could because of the noise. The large group should have been located further back in the bar to allow people to sit at the bar and not be bombarded by noise and enjoy some kind of ambiance. At some point the Cackler got up and walked behind the bar to get more wine. I am pretty sure she was either the owner or manager! Wow! She needs to get some awareness of how loud she is and how uncomfortable she made the wine bar for others not in her party. We paid and left as soon as possible. Hope the wine bar cleans up their business practices or they won't be around much longer expect as a private party place for the owner/Manager/Cackler. read more

My wife and I found this place via Yelp on a Thursday night at 8:30 PM. The food is freshly made, delicious, and the owner is nothing short of fantastic. Everything you want in a small café with someone who takes a lot of pride in their work. We need more places like this especially in small towns and on road trips... We will definitely be back! And for what that Taylor lady said in a previous review, look at all of her reviews and realize she's just unhappy with pretty much everything around her. I had booked a motel in Yreka, and didn't realize that virtually every restaurant nearby closed by around 8:30 pm. I started wandering down the road to look for a 'steakhouse' that a few people had mentioned, but instead, I found The Wine Bar and Bistro. What an excellent find!!! Everyone was so friendly, and the owner even customized my salad after asking me questions about different tastes that I liked - stuff like that never happens! The salad was perfect, the flatbread was amazing, and the Brady Petite Sirah capped it all off. We were in town for a family reunion, and The Wine Bar & Bistro was an excellent venue for our group. We were greeted by an amazing smoked BBQ being prepared outside on the corner, and continued inside to a delicious spread of salads, potatoes, and dessert. Of course, the wine selection was amazing! Passing through we needed something to eat and drink. This seemed like a good choice. We mostly liked it. We wish there was a better food selection. We didn't need a big dinner but more salads and a couple of entrees would have been nice. The wine selection was decent. There were several attractive looking whites though I only had one. The red wines seemed good. I tried a red blend and it was a little bland. The Zinfandel was excellent. Service was good. It is an attractive space. Some loud drunks and loud music made it less desirable. An interesting neighboring table started talking Rotary club issues which told us something about the customer base.
