Thought we would try the tasting room which I thought Kevin still owned. We were welcomed in by a bright&Cheerful host. That gave us option to where we wanted to be seated. My husband chose the dark&Moody back area which was very lovely. Was greeted by a nice petite lady server. Poured us water and took our drink order. Wine selection was nice ask to sample 2 before I made my selection she said of course. Made my decision and looked over menu made our choice by time she came back with my glass of wine. Pan seared fresh fish mahi mahi seasoned with paprika laid on sweet potato puree special request on my part. Excellent choice i made and gracious that they allowed me to make that change because I do not eat Risotto. Champagne beurre blanc sauce topped with citrus fennel slaw sliced thin round and long perfect way to slice for the creation of this dish. And drizzled lemon oil. Let me Tell you and flavorful masterpiece. My compliments to the chef which I thought was Kevin and it turns out he sold it and the chef now of 6 yrs. Is a woman that killed it. culinary genius!My husband got the same dish the original way it was on the menu with the crab risotto and thought it was delicious. You have to ask for bread which is a charge. Bread and butter freshly made yummy! Decided to celebrate our anniversary here as we wanted to stay close to home and not drive across town. For the tasting room, you can do day of reservations by texting the number on their website. We made a reservation, but because it was during the weekday, we definitely didn't need one as there was plenty of tables available. It did take a bit for our server to greet us and bring us water but our server was also the only bartender on that night, so she was trying to manage all of the beverages for the restaurant on top of the individuals who were seated in the bar area. My husband opted for the smoked old-fashioned with buffalo trace and I tried their seasonal offering of the pecan pie, which was a bourbon based drink. Both were excellent, although I was disappointed because of the alcohol content of the pecan pie you're limited to two. For dinner, I order the house pasta and I will say the sauce was exceptional! That short rib and beef tenderloin mixed into the rich sauce was absolutely fantastic with the pasta. My husband got the fillet and really enjoyed it. If you do order the fillet keep in mind it does take a minimum of 30 minutes to cook, and because the restaurant tends to operates as a tapas restaurant, others food may come out before your fillet does. read more

This is a cozy little bar with an English pub feel. Our server, Alex, was fantastic. He was very helpful in choosing both our drinks and our food. He was well informed and fun. We decided to go with the seasonal drinks. Both drinks were really good, so hurry up and get there before the end of the year so you can try them. Without doubt the best food we had while on a recent visit to Orlando. Friends recommended we try this and so glad we did. The place is on the first floor of a rather unassuming building and when you first enter, it's pretty dark inside but persevere. We texted ahead to save a spot as we were celebrating a birthday and wanted to get in. Staff is great, attentive and friendly in a not over bearing way. In hindsight, I'm sorry I didn't try the cocktails as I see those get very high marks but I can speak to the food which is outstanding. This is Tapas style, meaning small plates and they bring it out as available, my favorite style of eating because you get to sample so many different dishes. We ordered the Duck Fat Fries, again highly recommended, and they were very good. We also had the Brussels Sprouts (amazing and possibly the best of the dishes we tried). These are served with Blue cheese which I don't normally like but these were so good, I am having to re-consider!) Also the mushroom Roulade which has been on the menu for over 20 years (again amazing, has Truffle salt and if you aren't a truffle fan don't be put off, great flavor), the Muffaletta (really good), Shrimp and Grits (wow! My husband said after we should have gotten a full platter of that because it was delicious!) and fried Okra, which in comparison to the other dishes was not as exciting. Came in on a Saturday night right before mother's day and had a great experience. Food is very good, just know it is a true tasting menu, so the portions are pretty small and meant to be shared. Standouts were the lamb gyro, which had by far the highest quality meat I've had on a gyro, and the buffalo wings, which were nicely smoky and tangy. Both were excellent. I also had the duck fat fries, which were not as remarkable as the waitress made them out to be (fries with a simple aioli), as well as shrimp and grits that were nothing to write home about. I tried a couple of other dishes as well, and I'd say the less safe-sounding ones were generally better. We visited the tasting room on a Thursday night around 6pm. We were seated immediately and given menus. Our menus were different which was interesting. We decided to get 4 plates and split them. Here's how they were: The first was a pasta I can't fully recall, but it had a short rib ragu with ricotta in it. Neither of us were huge ricotta fans, but I can say for sure that this was the highlight of the night. It was perfectly seasoned and the meat sauce was delicious. The next was the mushroom roulades. These are similar to something we'd had at the chef's table, and we were so excited to have them again! They were definitely tasty. Next came a gnocchi with pork belly and romesco. This dish fell a little flat for us, I think the romesco was a little sweet for our taste. The pork belly on top had nice caramelization on it, but it needed seasoning and felt a little dry on its own. Lastly, we got the beef wellingtons. These fell short by a bit. Personally, I hadn't tried a short rib Wellington before, and I wasn't a fan of how the textures worked in comparison to how a filet works. The pastries were well cooked, but my big issue was that the glaze on it was so burned. It tasted bitter and the taste spread to everything else. Overall, I think we were a little disappointed with our food. Our service was incredible, but it was a shame that it seemed like our meal went steadily downhill. Some of my favorite brunch dishes include the shrimp and grits, duck fat fries, and when they have it as a special - the avocado toast with chorizo and corn! You can't beat the mimosas with a $3.00 price tag! They also have a great cocktail menu! The location of this restaurant is in an awesome spot, as it's on the main drag of downtown Winter Garden. It's within walking distance of tons of shops, including my favorite olive oil store! You can also walk to Plant Street Market that has shops inside, food vedors for an after brunch snack, and the real reason I go - Crooked Can Brewing! No longer dog friendly. This establishment has outdoor seating on the sidewalk. All other restaurants in Downtown Winter Garden are dog friendly. We brought our elderly dog in a stroller and requested to be seated outdoors and was told that they do not allow dogs. We had previously brought our dogs and sat outdoors with no issue. There were several open tables outside and only one other guest seated outside. Our dog is 16 years old, blind and doesn't bark. He would have just slept in his stroller. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and can help you decide which dishes are Dan favorites or current specials. The ambiance are on the darker side so if you can't see well at low light you may need to ask to be seated under the lights. Otherwise the bar is front and center once you enter and there plenty of booth, low tables or high tops to choose from. What's you order the food comes out pretty quick. We ordered the five cheese plate to share which had interesting and yummy pairings with each cheese. We also ordered the delicious and flavorful steak skewers in a chimichurri sauce, the half order of shrimp and grits which were cooked perfectly, and the tempura chicken with rice noodles which were tangy and super tender. I've been wanting to try the Tasting Room because I heard they have an amazing happy hour, and it certainly did not disappoint. This is usually the first spot we hit at 4pm when we get to Winter Garden and we're ready for a drink. Their happy hour really is amazing - $5 cocktails and great food offerings. Our go to is the coconut lime martini and the duck fat fries (so good my two-year old devours most of them.) The happy hour tostada is so flavorful! The Beef Wellington is made with braised short rib, truffle butter, puff pasty and a red wine Demi glaze. An order comes with three and it's very tasty. I was visiting Winter Garden and originally had plans to eat at at a near by French cafe, but when I saw the reviews I decided to change plans and try them out. To be fair the reviews I read were for their lunch and dinner entres, not brunch. The service was slow and the restaurant was so dark you had to turn on your phone light. I am all for ambiance, but this just did not make sense. Our waiter told us the menu was a scanned menu, however when we tried to access it there was no brunch menu. Waited for about 10 minutes just to get a hard copy brunch menu. Finally ordered another 10 minutes to get coffee and it was lukewarm The whole experience was getting frustrating, but we decided to stick it out. We ordered the Croque Monsieur with and Egg (Madame) Duck Fat French Fries and the Peach and Cream French Toast. The food was just ordinary and the fries were also lukewarm. Was it horrible? I've heard amazing reviews about The Tasting Room (and it's adjoining Chef's Table) for a while, and I was so pleased that it lived up to the hype! We didn't have reservations but it wasn't too busy at 6:30 on a Monday, so we didn't have a problem getting seated right away. First, the ambiance reminds me a little of an 1870's saloon - lots of fringe curtains and stamped metal tiles around the bar. Not a huge restaurant, but didn't seem cramped at all especially sitting near the window. For drinks, we had the Simply Enlightened and the Pecan Pie cocktails. They were delicious but VERY strong. The pours were also very generous, so we only had one drink each the whole meal. And of course, THE FOOD. Loved that they had half portions of so many items! We had the beef Wellington trio, a half portion of the shrimp and grits, half portion of the ravioli, and a side of Brussels sprouts. It might not sound like a lot between two people, but we were definitely full by the end! The Brussels sprouts were good, but I wasn't really a fan of the added blue cheese. Ravioli was very flavorful, the smoked pork gave it a nice balance to the lighter flavors with the peas and thyme. The wellingtons were good as well, the puff pastry and red wine demi glacé were absolutely perfect. But the real star of the show was the New Orleans shrimp and grits. For a half portion, there were a LOT of shrimp so I can't even imagine what the full portion looks like! The Cajun / barbecue seasoning was phenomenal. Not too spicy, not too smoky, just such a great blend of spices and flavors. The grits were buttery and cheesy (aka perfect). I could (and probably should) have eaten a full portion and been 100% satisfied without anything else! We didn't get dessert (too full!) but the pot de creme sounded amazing and will definitely entice us to come back to try it! read more

Any question we had, he rushed us through and gave us rude, short responses. He actually told my husband to "move his plate." My senior citizen parents were having a hard time with the digital menu on their phones. His response? Also rude while he huffed his way to find paper ones. Having waited tables in the past, I get the occasional bad evening. But our waiter spent more time chatting in the corner with his co-workers than he did tending to his tables. I could keep going but there's no need. 2 stars thanks to highlight of our evening... Duck Fat Fries. That's about the only thing they do right. Ps. Wow. Dinner at the Tasting Room was such a pleasant surprise, I really wish it was closer! The vibe is "old hotel bar" but it works, it's a bit dark and cozy and can be a bit loud, but it all comes together well. Service was very prompt and friendly although it's important to know that the "tasting room" side of the chefs table is kinda done Tapas style? But they don't really tell you that? So expect things to come out to the table out of order. We started with the cheese plate which was great and well thought out and put together, although it was a bummer that we weren't told which cheese was which or given a list. We had a flatbread with sausage, cheese and a bunch of other things and it was great! The beef Wellington was good but not great, surprisingly lacking much flavor. The duck fat fries were insanely good - so good I didn't get a picture! Desert was the chocolate bread pudding which was yummy and made you want to lick the plate! The only other thing to mention is that their branding is very confusing. Everything is referred to as "The Chef's Table" but the majority of the restaurant is actually "The Tasting Room". RESTAURANT RECOMMENDATION: We had a very enjoyable dining experience at The Chef's Table in Winter Garden on Saturday. We found it by accident when the weather went south and we dipped inside to avoid the storm. The Tasting Room is all about unique food, beautifully prepared, mostly served small plate style although there are a few larger portioned items on the menu. We started with a very strong but smooth Pinot noir and a tequila cocktail called Almost Famous. Both were exceptional, especially the cocktail which was virtually a piece of art. From there, we shared a cheese board which had several tasty options including locally sourced honeycomb. Our son ordered duck confit, shrimp flatbread, pork tacos and chicken skewers. He enjoyed all of it, especially the chicken skewers. My husband had the mushroom crepes and Brussels sprouts. He wasn't too keen on the crepes, although we liked them, and the Brussels sprouts were a bit overcooked. I had the wild mushroom pasta which was delicious if a tad bit rich. Overall, though, we very much enjoyed this fine dining experience and the opportunity to try new things. It was expensive, but our waitress was super friendly and helpful.
