However, as we got closer to April 15 I got minimal communications from him. Then on 8pm on Tax Filing day itself, he texted that it would be late at night that he finished, then he texted saying he didn't finish and would file for an extension. Strike 1. Then I had to follow up April 20 since I hadn't heard anything and then over the next 2-3 weeks it was back and forth of reviewing his draft submissions and there was constantly inaccurate information, missing information, and overall poor attention to detail (he even missed including my 3 children as dependents). I was QCing accounting mistakes of my own CPA! Strike 2. I had to keep revising his drafts because his initially had us owing over 5-figures which was more than last year. I had to remind him then of how to approach the tax strategies that our family put in place. What I am even paying you for?! Strike 3. Then I had to still follow up with him when the final submission was going to be submitted (over a month late) and only then did he actual submit it, but I never even got a copy of the submitted paperwork (still waiting for it). Strike 4/5/6/ Needs to be thrown out of the game. I don't recommend at all and it's unfortunate since he seemed to do well with others, but not with us. Maybe he couldn't handle the complexity of our W2s and investments but never will I work with him again.
