After a long day of work last week I went to play my PlayStation 5 and blow off some steam…read more Everything was going as planned. No kids, no nagging wife, just my PS5 and my comfy couch. Just kidding, if you read this, wife.... I turned the console on with my controller, heard the beep, the TV turned on, saw the blue light, then the white. All cycles running like usual. I patiently waited for my game to display on the screen. Well, nothing happened. My worst fears have arrived. Now to ponder two options. One, throw it in the trash and shell out $500 for a new console; or two, see if this one could be repaired. And if it could be repaired, would the cost of the repair outweigh the benefit of buying a new one anyway. My console was purchased around COVID 19 time when they were hard to find, so I was expecting the worst and they would have to put the ole girl down. I searched the interwebs and social media. One person on social media suggested Cellairis. The poster said their console was saved, and highly recommended this place. Told me It is located in a smaller store inside of the Walmart off of Walnut. I unplugged my PS5 and took a little drive. I parked then walked into Walmart carrying my poor console like an injured fawn. I was promptly greeted by a nice gentleman behind the counter. I told him of my troubles, and he told me not to worry, he repairs a lot of PS5 consoles. So, this was looking like a story with a happy ending so far. He told me the common issue with PS5 consoles was that the HDMI ports were known to fail. Told me that the unit moving placed a stress on the port and they fail after a while. My console never moved, so I was leary. He plugged my unit into the TV, and same results. The beep, the blue light, then white light. He flipped the console around, grabbed the HDMI cord, then maneuvered it around, and placed a lot of pressure on the port. Sure enough, the unit responded and displayed the Sony PlayStation logos on the screen. My man was right. Still is looking like a happy ending for my poor console. He told me the price to fix was $139, plus a $30 diagnostic charge. He said the part would take a day to get, and a day to repair it. So three to four days turn around. He said he was going to waive the $30 charge, and clean all internal parts to rid the dust bunnies. The cleaning charge was $49, to which he waived also. Payment was due upfront, and was guaranteed refundable if the console was unrepairable. I paid $151.54 after tax. Fast forward to four days later.. As promised, he called on the fourth day and told me my PS5 was ready for pick up. I drove there and walked in ready to pick her up. He attached it to the TV again and it worked perfect. He apologized for the extra day it took, and told me his work was warrantied for two months. He was positive with his workmanship enough to say he was positive I would not have to bring it back. We shook hands, he thanked me for my business, and I was on my way. Overall, my experience was absolutely amazing. Not to mention, saved me $350 not having to buy a new unit. Friendly service, the process was explained very well, and I had zero worries knowing my console was in good hands. Definitely will use again if another console goes down. Enjoy!

Another place that I had visited, gave me their card and told me to call them when I was ready and when I did, twice, they didn't return my call. It was clearly not meant to be because I needed to come to Mobile Phone Geeks where they do so much more than help with mobile phones. And the prices are much more reasonable! I'm so glad I stumbled upon this place after having breakfast at Fork & Spoon a couple doors down. Jeremy is extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. He answered all my questions courteously patiently and professionally. He really seems to enjoy what he does. After servicing my laptop, I have no reservations about bringing in my phone for a battery replacement as well. Lastly, i think he's a rare gem because he doesn't try to give you services that you don't need. He told me to try seeing how rapidly my battery life % goes down within the hour to make sure it definitely needs to be replaced. He even explained how to preserve my battery life. He seems to be in it for the right reasons and not just to make bank off of his customers. I highly recommend this place.

I think he also did something to get the software glitches out of the tablet. Or it's my imagination. Either way, thanks Justin! You are a genius geek! ;-)

After waiting several more days for the replacement glass to arrive, I finally got my iPad back--only to discover my Apple Pencil no longer worked. I'm an artist. I use my iPad with an Apple Pencil all day, not my finger. The person claiming to be the manager actually told me that because I never said I used an Apple Pencil, they installed cheaper glass that isn't Pencil-compatible. The audacity of that excuse is unbelievable. Why would you replace a screen you broke with one that strips away one of the main features of an iPad Pro? And no one ever asked how I used it--they simply told me they broke the screen and would replace it. Any reasonable person would expect it to be replaced with a screen that preserves the device's functionality. When I asked them to make it right, the manager raised his voice, talked over me, and insisted the screen was "fine" because I could still use my finger. He was arrogant, condescending, and completely unprofessional. I came in for a battery replacement. They damaged my iPad, made it less functional than when I brought it in, charged me $167, never apologized, refused to fix their mistake, and yelled at me for expecting them to. I am absolutely flabbergasted. I now have a very expensive iPad that no longer serves its primary purpose, and I had to pay for the privilege. CPR, at a minimum, refund my money. Better yet, the owner should step in, make this right, and seriously reconsider whether this person should be managing customer interactions.
