I am sharing this review as a warning to parents, especially those with children or children with…read morespecial needs to proceed with caution. Upon arrival, the front desk was disorganized. Only one staff member was actively assisting patients while several others carried on side bar conversations with each other. While waiting to not only be acknowledged but checked in for our appointments, there were 5 staff members at the desk, only one was on the phone/assisting anybody. There was not a line. There was no wait. I assume they were just passing time waiting to get off of work. After check-in, my children were called back. Shortly thereafter, a dental hygienist came to retrieve me because one of my children was crying and expressing that the procedure was painful. Based on my own experience during my cleaning, I can confirm that the cleaning was indeed painful. Experience or not, there is always room for improvement in your professional skills to include interactions with other people and their children. Under no circumstance is it appropriate for staff to attempt to discipline, reprimand, or chastise a child, especially a child who is not their own. If there is a behavioral concern, the parent should be notified immediately so they can address it, or the provider can choose to refuse care if they feel unable to continue. Rudeness and attempted discipline are unacceptable and unprofessional. It took an extreme amount of restraint for me not to escalate the situation in the office. I will be speaking directly with the office manager and will also be notifying the appropriate state authorities regarding this experience.

They called back the following day saying I scheduled it on the adult side instead of the pediatric side (online doesn't have the option to choose). While on the phone, they transferred me to the children's side, which I ended up having to leave a voicemail since nobody answered. Still fine. I called yesterday to get clarification if our appointments have been moved over to which I was told they can't see the appointments anywhere in the system and I'd be transferred to the children's side. Once again, I left a voicemail since nobody answered. I understand being busy, but the whole experience so far has just made me not want to continue with them. I hoped it would work out since it does look like a perfect place for children with their decor.

There were difficulties with putting on my daughter's caps, which resulted in additional charges for different caps. We also had to pay extra for anesthesia due to this issue. If you have Tricare, be sure to get pre-authorization for anesthesia; otherwise, you might end up with a hefty bill. It feels like they are more focused on making money than providing quality service. We won't be back.

Veterans... do not use this facility if you can help it…read more. This review is not about the front desk or support staff. They were polite and professional. My issue is with the clinical care, the breakdown in follow-through, and the unacceptable delays I experienced at Southeastern Dental. I am a 100% disabled VA-covered veteran with significant restorative dental needs, and this office turned what should have been routine care into a drawn-out, confidence-destroying mess. A single permanent crown started around August 2025 and was not completed until early February 2026. I was left dealing with a temporary crown for six to seven months, including multiple return visits just to have it re-cemented. That is not reasonable. That is poor management of a patient's care. What makes this worse is that after all that time, I still had reason to question the quality of the work. When the crown was finally placed, there was no post-placement X-ray to confirm fit and margins, despite imaging being used during earlier attempts. During that same visit, I pointed out a sharp defect on the adjacent tooth and was told there was no decay. The problem is still there, and it still feels like an untreated cavity. Even more concerning, I had previously been told that multiple teeth needed treatment and that the findings were being submitted to the VA for approval. When I followed up, there was apparently no record of that plan, forcing me to start the process over with more exams and more delays. That is a serious failure in continuity of care, especially for a patient already dealing with worsening dental problems. Because of Southeastern Dental's delays and lack of follow-through, I have spent nearly a year chewing mostly on one side of my mouth, affecting my quality of life and potentially causing further damage. Based on my experience, I would not trust this office with complex dental work, and I would absolutely not recommend it to other veterans, friends, or family. Maybe some patients have a smooth experience here. I did not. Mine involved months of delay, unresolved concerns, poor continuity, and a complete loss of confidence in the care provided. I will be pursuing other options and escalating these concerns through VA Patient Advocacy. Leadership at this office should take a serious look at how cases are being handled, because what I experienced was unacceptable. Absolutely terrible.

The lady who cleaned their teeth was friendly and nice and we had no issues when she cleaned my 5.5 year olds teeth. He was able to sit still and cooperate very well! When my three year-old was getting his teeth cleaned, it was very distressing that they wanted me to hold my child down while he was screaming and crying and thrashing just to clean his teeth. I should have left, but I felt overwhelmed and just wanted it over. They have no TVs or no special kid things to keep them entertained while they're getting work done. My older son was confirmed to have two cavities and needed them fixed. We came back two weeks later and he absolutely refused to put the laughing gas mask on his nose and lay down calmly. The dentist who I have never once seen smile, had zero bedside manner, positive affirmations, or patience and willingness to help my child relax. She also did not want me in the room with him before the appointment was even scheduled, but I refused that! You could tell her and the assistant were frustrated with him even though they said it was OK. They immediately told me he would need an OR dental work procedure under general anesthesia. I didn't feel as if they lied about extra work needed done, so I respect the honesty of her work! However, I do not believe she should be working with children, if they are not willing to go above and beyond and show clear compassion and patience with children who need reassurance! If your child does perfectly fine laying in the chair, then you would be fine here. I decided to cancel our appointment with them and get an appointment with Southern smiles, pediatric dentistry. Simply walking in the door, the energy felt so different and positive! Every assistant was so kind and went above and beyond for my son and I! The dentist was beyond kind and immediately made it fun for my son! They had a TV for him to look at, they gave him choices for prizes, they gave him stickers, and he made an effort to go above and beyond and help him feel comfortable. We got him in for an appointment to do the same work under laughing gas. He willingly and calmly laid down on the table and put the laughing gas mask on with zero issues! I was welcomed into the room without question and was able to hold his hand the whole time! Never once did they assume a parent wouldn't stay with the child! He didn't squirm or flinch or fight it at all! The difference in care was drastically different! You could tell my son felt comfortable and at ease through it all! Southern smiles even takes my insurance (Medicaid)! I would not recommend Highland pediatric dentistry!
