The experience you get staying in their B&B and hanging out in the brewpub will make your visit to this charming town absolutely unforgettable. They are hospitality experts and their kindness and support to their guests, community, and neighbors is outstanding. They deserve 20 out of 5 stars! You won't find kinder people, a more delicious breakfast, or a better stay anywhere. The B&B is beautiful, cozy, and inviting. You'll quickly feel at home and have a hard time leaving. (I threatened to never leave!) We cannot wait to come back. We, and the other guests, all commented on how incredibly comfortable the beds are. The blankets are SO warm, and on a chilly winter night, it's the perfect way to get cozy and warm. The decor of the room and bathroom was incredible! If we were staying the weekend, I would have treated myself to nice mineral bath in the gorgeous clawfoot tub. The original wood floors in the bathroom and throughout the house are exquisite. BREAKFAST. Oh. My. Heavenly. Goodness. To say Brenda is multi-talented is an understatement. One of her many talents is being a wizard in the kitchen. Her local bacon (seasoned two ways), homemade granola with yogurt and berries, stuffed French toast bake, and hand-crafted spread are THE way to start your morning. I feel spoiled after one day. And sitting around the table with guests and neighbors will make you feel like a local. Then there's the brewery!! Turning Waters Back Alley Brewery / Hoppy Girl Brewing.... We are so excited to have them in town! We've been to about 113 breweries around the state and country, and this one easily makes the top 10, if not higher. Ford's beers are exceptional! The Mango Milkshake IPA, Salted Caramel Russian Imperial Stout, Triple Black IPA, and Bourbon Barrel Aged Belgian Dark Beer were all 5 out of 5 stars. I'd drink those until they run out and never get sick of them. The hospitality they show out there is outstanding. The awesome snacks, delicious pizzas (don't miss this!), games, and variety of craft beers on tap will make you never want to leave. We can't wait to come back this summer and enjoys some brews outside! Best choice you could make in Wabasha? Come to Turning Waters and turn no where else. We could not recommend this place more highly!

The Joseph Fugina House has a main floor that you can rent, complete with two bedrooms, a living room, dining room and kitchen. Upstairs, there are three separate rooms that can be rented. They each have their own bathroom, with a shared kitchen upstairs and a shared living room downstairs. I would highly recommend looking that their website, as the photos really show how beautiful this space is. They also rent out the Prairie School House just down the street. That's a full house (no separate rooms for rent). The renovators and designers did an incredible job. Walking into the Joseph Fugina House is like stepping into a Pottery Barn or Pier 1 photo shoot. Great attention has been paid to details. Our room in the Joseph Fugina House had wonderful windows that let in a lot of light and overlooked the Mississippi River. There was also a small patio with two chairs where you could sit outside and enjoy the view. Each room has a Keurig coffee maker. The proprietors even restocked us with some Chai tea and decaff which my wife asked for! We loved our stay and would absolutely, without question, stay here again. The location is great. You can walk to town to enjoy the shops and restaurants. Guests can enjoy a 10 percent discount at The Golden Frog, a bar and grill located in downtown Fountain City. The only minor negatives would be: trains are passing by across the street about every 15 minutes, so if you're a light sleeper or can't stand that noise, you may want to go elsewhere. Also, the water was slow to get warm in the bathroom, and when it did, it didn't get real warm. We appreciated having access to a full kitchen - the ceramic dishes, real silverware, a fridge, etc. Again, the decorating was amazing. I hesitate to speak too glowingly about the place for fear that the next time we want to return, it will be booked.

The house was clean, the room was lovely, the food was delicious, and our hosts were gracious! I was delighted by all the unique touches, from the antiques, the phone booth in the hallway, and the tower gazebo, to the handmade soap and homemade maple syrup! We enjoyed riding our bikes into Preston, a night at the Commonweal Theatre, ice cream at Clara's (try the London Fog!) and a trip to the local farmers market on Saturday.

The first time I stayed at Scandinavian Inn was 2009; the last time was this past weekend. I initially was attracted to the place because of their commitment to serve only free range eggs and locally raised meats at their breakfasts. I've since learned many more reasons to love this inn. Breakfast The breakfast at the Scandinavian Inn is probably the best one in all of Lanesboro if not Fillmore County. On our first morning we were served Persian Quiche (crust-less), which contains free range local eggs, Swiss chard, spinach, tofu and other delicious ingredients. Along with it was coffee, warm cornbread right from the oven, a selection of homemade jams and jellies, fresh fruit, orange juice, and ham steak from a local farmer whose livestock range free in naturally stress-free pastures. Our second morning's breakfast was similarly as big and included oven-baked French toast with homemade syrup made by Peter and Vicki (the inn's owners) as well as chocolate chocolate-chip muffins, lemon bread, fresh raspberries from the inn's gardens, and rommegrot--a rare Norwegian treat. Bed I am picky where I sleep, and need a firm mattress. My wife prefers a more cushy sleeping experience. We were both quite satisfied. Rooms at the inn are tastefully decorated in period pieces (the inn was built in 1892). While some are attracted to the Bed and Breakfast because of its commitment to sustainability--for example, it draws heavily from geothermal heating and cooling rather than constant AC--this may worry some who are used to the creature comforts. However, with our window open and two fans available to us, the room was quite pleasant and in fact one night we found ourselves reaching for the comforter / quilt beautifully adorning our antique bed. It should be noted that one bedroom has its own dumbwaiter, whereby breakfast is served in the room and not communally with the other guests. Hosts The inn is owned and run by Peter and Vicki, world travelers who have been to Egypt, Morocco, Japan, Nepal, and beyond. Their experience in the Peace Corps and as upstanding Minnesotans serves them well in their roles of host and hostess. Guests are made welcome by an initial tour (the house is quite big and a tour is welcome and needed) as well as by the smaller things: fresh coffee brought upstairs an hour before breakfast, personal recommendations, and a willingness to share their music, art and conversation. House In the Bed & Breakfast capital of Minnesota, Lanesboro is in no short supply of beautiful Victorian style houses. There are a few things that set Scandinavian Inn apart from the others: -located in quietest part of town -green-minded (no power lawn mower, sheets and towels air dried, etc.) -rooftop gazebo (great place to enjoy a glass of wine or just stare at the stars) -tastefully appointed common areas with antique couches, a piano, books, cd collection and stereo The Town If the Root River State Trail is a necklace, stringing together Bluff Country villages for some 60 miles, then Lanesboro is its crown jewel. The town has a waterfall, regional theater that is quite good (and I am a theater snob), winery with delicious wines made from (mostly) local ingredients such as apples and rhubarb, art gallery, restaurants, shopping and more. If you want a laid back weekend away, Lanesboro is an excellent choice.

Chateau Ramy is named after it's sole proprietor Mr. Ramy, and it's kitchen is run by Executive Chef Mr. Brian. It's located within a few minutes of Menomonie's greatest attractions, it's bars and shops downtown. Chateau Ramy has plenty of off-street parking, but if you decide not to drive which is wise if you've been drinking with Menomonie cops sucking so bad, a cab ride to and from downtown bars is a low cost option at around $11-13. Chateau Ramy is small but makes efficient use of its space. When my party checked-in, the host/owner greeted us promptly at the door, although luggage service was not offered, the close parking didn't make it too much of an inconvenience. Once checked in, I was offered a refreshing complimentary alcoholic beverage which I gladly accepted. Once all settled in, Executive Chef Brian brought us out a base meal, which is the meal one eats before they consume copious amounts of alcohol to stave off extreme hangovers. The base meal consisted of fine cheese spreads, exotic crackers and delectable sausages and tomatoes with a little pizza mixed in. While we ate, we were entertained by friendly banter and a good old fashioned drinking game of hockey. After the game, we ventured out downtown and returned to blown-up air mattresses in the living room that were more than sufficient to slumber on. Then in the AM, after handling a brief morning accident, Chef Brian served us breakfast which was the prefect way to wake up to a class 2 hangover. From what I can remember as my body digested the last of the alcohol remaining in my belly from the night before, breakfast was amazing with small potatoes, eggs, and bread with french pressed coffee on the side being served. We departed soon after to watch the Packer game at the Ale House, who's food sucks by the way, but that for a different review. I would highly recommend this hidden gem known as Chateau Ramy and the food mastery of Executive Chef Brian. Their team work to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable was second to none and we plan on coming back many more times in the future. My only complaint whatsoever is that this B&B is not wifi friendly, although Chateau Ramy has wifi, he would not provide his password claiming he didn't know it, but I assume it's the same password he uses for all of his other passwords and doesn't want to give that sensitive information up, also known as a George Costanza move.

When I arrived on Saturday, I was informed that I missed the Welcome Orientation that was scheduled for me on Friday. At this orientation, I missed receiving my welcome packet which included a suggested itinerary and the tour of facilities by Mr. Ramy himself. Although I was disappointed I missed this important information, I did not feel that it decreased the enjoyment of my stay. As others had mentioned in their reviews, the evening cocktail reception with appetizers and the morning breakfast were superb! I felt that the Chateau did not advertise these perks enough, but they were certainly a welcomed surprise! Although there were some issues with my bed, which for some unknown reason had the plug removed during the night, the stay was cozy and relaxed. I appreciated that the Cheateau allowed for a late check-out and that the housekeeping services were efficient and abundant. I completely recommend this Chateau for your overnight stay in Menomonie. Not only are the views breathtaking from the front entrance, but the host(s) are welcoming and accommodating. The dollar value of the stay, cannot be surpassed!

The linens and beds go the extra mile to make you comfortable and it's the little extras that make us feel so at home. It had been a long time since our last va-ca, and giving ourselves ample opportunity to do so throughout the year is important to us. At first, I looked at the hotels in the area, but nothing felt right. Then had the idea of staying at a B & B (Bed and Breakfast.) We began our search and when we saw the Pratt Tabor Inn and read the reviews, went over their website, something in both of us felt good, like the Universe compelled us to try this out. It would be my first time and for my gf it had been years since she went to a b&b with her family. When we arrived, we met Ron, and right away our conversation felt lively and warm. He helped get us situated and settled and the rest as they say was history...I'm a strong believer in my later years that the Universe places people, events, and experiences in your life that aligned with how you want to live your life. I wanted this get-away to be about relaxing and sharing our love for each other, ourselves, and others! And it definitely was. I loved that both Ron and Deb created the time and space for us to engage with them, as much as we wanted to. -beautiful rooms -fireplace (not real wood) -Popcorn -relax environment -breakfast, coffee, dessert oh my!! So good. So much care. -Bottle of champagne! And flowers (yes it's extra but so worth it!) -Beds -Autumn room I have too many great things to say about Pratt Tabor Inn, but I think the memory I will take with us this first time here was the love, care, and story. Deb's story is powerful! You can tell the love that radiates this B&B and how that love is transported to all the guests who come through the doors. Thanks Ron and Deb, Ellie, Buddy, and Max. Thank you for being you and wanting to take care of your guests, like family. We can't wait to return to learn more about each other. Big hugs, Pete and Emily

I didn't want a generic hotel room so the New Victorian Mansion allowed me to have comfort as if I was in my own home. Some of my favorite highlights include: wrap around front porch, view of the Cathedral, large bathroom with a nautical theme, breakfast in the dining room and overall peacefulness and serenity of the space. Upon arrival, there is a free parking lot wrapped around the building and a main entry (you'll ring the doorbell) to get access to your room key pad number and front door code. Depending on what wing and room you stay in, you will travel either inside or out and have the option for both if you stay in the penthouse. The mansion is separated by two sections and anyone staying in the penthouse is on an opposite wing of the building. There is no elevator in the penthouse and it's clearly advertised online so you'll know what to expect in advance without any surprises. The penthouse is technically meant for large group gatherings as there is only shared 1 bathroom. Contrary, I saw others in the penthouse when I was there and we never overlapped on bathroom use. I enjoy the New Victorian because you can customize how you want to stay whether that is luxurious or a more modern dorm style. No matter what you choose, the common shared spaces in each wing are adorable being it's all a mansion. Even the penthouse kitchen was just enough with every accommodation possible: Nespresso machine, coffee cups, wine glasses, blender, fridge, pots, pans, etc. While I only stayed one night and had to depart early, I couldn't fully enjoy the breakfast as I was in rush mode to get married. Contrary, the staff accommodated a slightly early meal for me which was very thoughtful. Rating this a 4 as there is some generic wear and tear, missing paint, carpet stains, and cleaning supplies and cords in the open spaces. With some paint, hiding of tools, carpet stain remover, small porch sweeping with added flowers, this would get a 5 star. My understanding is that there are new owners so perhaps repairs are all in the works after being handed off? Don't be fooled: the place is clean but it looks more dirty due to the slight repairs that need to be done to keep the upscale vibe going.

The Mansion is beautiful, a real mix of old and new.. so you get history.. but still really nice bathrooms and big bedrooms It's about three blocks further than the other highly rated one in town and well worth the extra travel. We were greeted by our gracious hosts, Tom and Sandy. We made it just in time for the afternoon snack.. you know.. wine, cheese etc... with time to enjoy the large veranda. In fact, we were there for three nights and made extensive use of the veranda.. at breakfast, in the afternoon and in the evening. Tom and Sandy are good about seating you with people that are a good match.. or if you prefer.. alone.. there is plenty of space. You can even have food delivered to your room. We played croquet on the grounds (yes, they have ample parking, gorgeous landscaping, a fountain and a place to play croquet) it was fun, but when my wife kept beating me I decided it was time to try something else. (I grew up in the city, what do I know about croquet?) Back to the breakfast thing.. one day the whole area suffered a power outage so they fired up the grill and cooked us our breakfast. No big deal, it was excellent. We stayed in the Joseph room, but were able to view all except one and they were all very nice. We had a King sized bed (super comfortable) and an oversized bathroom.. a big tub with jets and a shower that I needed the instructions (laminated) to use.. so many sprayers.
