The second issue was the shotty construction work that he was doing and that it was left undone on the day of my event. There were holes in the walls and dust on everything. it was dirty and unattractive. There is also a bar area on the side of the space that looks unsanitary and unusable. The manager of the space was not helpful at all and whenever I requested something be changed or taken care of he showed that he was obviously annoyed. I would never use this space again nor suggest it to anyone.

Although it was a tad off the beaten path (up on Belmont near California) the price was too good to pass up ($25/hr) and the pics showed the place to be perfect for our needs. As advertised, the place was just about perfect. Very clean, nice, well lit, attractive - brick walls, high ceilings. I think they have a screen you can put up for photos shoots but you'll need to check. Bathroom, kitchen, sitting area, chairs, tables, studio area for shoots or auditions. One minor negative was the lack of a door at the end of a hall between the waiting room and studio space. Even though we couldn't see the prospects, we could hear them. As it turned out, the location wasn't even an issue as it's right of the Blue line and #77 bus. And Edward, the owner/Manager(?) was very nice and made the process simple and headache free, important when your focus needs to be elsewhere. Wish I had found this place earlier. Definitely a place to check out if you're on a budget and need an impressive space for a photo shoot or audition. Looks like you could rent it to to teach a class in as well. Overall, great space.

I completely understand it was a free event and things can get hectic, but the lack of communication from staff really left a bad impression. We RSVP'd ahead of time and had QR codes, yet no one ever asked to check them. Meanwhile, people were being pulled from the line because they knew someone or recognized a famous person. No hate or hard feelings, I get how events work but it definitely felt frustrating for the people who actually registered and waited patiently. Better communication and organization would have made a huge difference.

Glad they have open events for the public so I can enjoy an interesting time with them without paying membership fees for stuff I wont use. Their "stuff" is pretty cool though! Definitely impressive woodworking area, 3D Printer, I think they mentioned an embroidery machine and vinyl cutting machine, as well as a plethora of tools I personally wouldn't know the names of. Okay I have to share this gem of a play space we found in Logan Square…read more It's a small, locally-owned spot and you can feel the care in every detail the second you walk in. The whole space is beautifully done--like truly thoughtfully designed, not just thrown together. The colors, the textures, the little house setups... everything just works. What I loved most though is how culturally rooted it feels without being overdone. The play food, the kitchen setup, the art on the walls--it all reflects a Latino-owned space in a way that feels natural, warm, and intentional. It actually made the whole environment feel more alive and meaningful. It's also just... calm. Which, if you have kids, you know is rare I could actually sit, breathe, watch them play, even get a little work done without feeling overstimulated. It's such a good alternative if you're trying to avoid the chaos of the bigger play places. There's a sweet little baby area, a building station, and the cutest play houses that my kids were completely locked into. I really, really hope this place sticks around because spaces like this matter. You can tell it was built with heart.

It's one of the larger play cafes I've been to in the city--perhaps the only one that's bigger is in part because it's a co-working space. But Luna y Cielo has more play stations than that place. There's a couple play kitchens, various stations and tables for kids to play at or things to play with. There is an infant section in the front of the store that is for the littlest ones, aged 0-11 months. There's a nice library that holds books in both English and Spanish, in accordance with their business model. And they have a really nice, solid, incredibly well built little house for kids play in, with a little cot and some clothing for children to play with, as well as a small slide attached. I like that the house is built directly into the walls and of the building because that makes it sturdy and strong enough for parents to climb in after their littles if need be. There's a party room in the back, and they do rent the space out for parties. You have to take your shoes off upon entering so that the place can remain clean but you also need to bring socks, though they have socks here for purchase if you forget. There are a couple of bathrooms and also a couple changing stations outside the bathroom as well. If there might be improvements made, it could potentially be useful to have a quiet room in case some kiddos need to take a break from the play. I also wouldn't mind there being some places for caregivers to sit; they have a long bench along one side of the room, but some of it was covered with pillows which I felt bad removing and also it was not super duper comfy. I came for their Halloween party, so the price was different than the everyday price but I remember glancing at their rates and it wasn't bad, not out of line with other play places in the area. I do remember that siblings under six months can come for free. There is parking along Armitage on this stretch and though we were here on Halloween, I don't think it impacted the parking all that much--there was plenty, which I have been worried about when I've considered going. They have classes, programs, and other special activities so it is certainly worth following their instagram to keep informed about what's going on. I love that they have mommy and me Spanish classes; I really want to join these but I work during the Wednesday time and have a standing appointment during the Saturday time. But I love that they are here as a resource for families that are already bilingual and those that want to be. The place has had some struggles, and it doesn't help during the warm months I don't think when there are so many places to go and things to do. They have some snacks for purchase, and drinks as well. If you care for little ones, I'd suggest giving Luna y Cielo a visit and I believe they have memberships/packages/gift certificates, too.

We had our 130 person wedding at Artifact this past July and I can't say enough wonderful things…read moreabout our experience. We worked with Maya and she was responsive, helpful, and so kind. We ended up changing our flow of the day a couple times after deciding to do a buyout, and everyone was so understanding and flexible. We got to make wonderful use of the space, using both the north and south sides throughout the evening. They have great rain plans, TONS of room, clean, wonderful bathrooms. Day of was incredibly smooth and Maya worked fantastically with our wedding planner. We especially are grateful to Artifact's bar staff and night manager Pete, who took amazing care of us and our guests the entire night. We can't imagine having our day anywhere else - and our family and friends have been simply gushing about how beautiful the venue was. The light alone is insane - it just was the perfect dreamy, cozy, effortless venue that we cannot recommend more to prospective couples!

This was our second time attending an art show opening at the Bridgeport Art Center. Other than…read moretwo popular event venues, namely the Skyline Loft on the 5th floor and the Sculpture Garden on the first floor, the huge building also provides art studios and office spaces, and two spacious art galleries on the 3rd and 4th floors. Both times we attended the art openings on the 4th floor by taking a manned-freight elevator from the 1st floor. The first time we went two years ago, there was a public ticketed event going on. So, there were long lines just getting into the building. This time we arrived at 8:00 pm for a 7:00 - 10:00 pm opening, they had the entrance on the side of the building, and there were no lines. We attended "The Landscape is Changing" art exhibition that runs from July 18 to September 5, 2025 on the 4th Floor Gallery. It featured multimedia artworks from 101 contributing artist. There were paintings, photos, 3-D art, and sculptures that depicted natural and man-made structures of our surroundings, inspired and influenced by the landscape. The galleries were spacious and well-lit, and the exhibitions well-planned and professionally done. Since refreshments and beverages were on the 3rd floor, we decided to go down one floor by taking the stairs instead of the freight elevator. However, be prepared to go through quiet hallways of storage spaces that felt like a maze and adventure. It was nice that all the spaces were clean and well-maintained. However, I hope Bridgeport Art Center would look into improving the air conditioning in the art gallery spaces. Two years ago, it was hot and miserable during a hot summer night. This year, we were lucky that we had an exceptionally cool summer evening, that the outside temperature was only in the 70s. But the inside of the galleries was not too hot, but still on the warm side. I saw a couple of ladies fanning themselves with paper or something in their hands, while complaining about being too warm. However, other parts of the building could be nice and cool, that included their office. When we were leaving, the freight elevator door opened on the 5th floor, where a wedding reception was going on, we could feel a nice blast of cold air getting into the elevator. I highly recommend "The Landscape is Changing" art exhibition with free admission and runs until September 5, 2025, but please check the weather forecast and pick a cool day so that your experience will be more enjoyable.
