I just moved to the area, saw the sign and figured I would stop in. I saw a few things that I wanted. The two people working in the shop didn't acknowledge me at all, but that wouldn't be a dealbreaker. While I was looking around, a second customer came in. From the questions he was asking, he'd never been in before, either. The employee behind the counter barely looked up at him, was dismissive with most of the questions he was asked and made it obvious that he couldn't be bothered to deal with the other customer. I had mentally picked out about $75-$100 worth of stuff (the Captain Marvel PVC, the miniature Star Wars helmets, a couple of Pops and the Battlestar Galactica Raider. I decided to walk out, without buying anything. I didn't want to bother the guys that were working there on 7/10. Do you have any suggestions as to other collectible stores in the area? read more

Stumbled across this gem while in seekonk. It was a true time capsule. Such a fun shop to explore. Plenty of records ranging from classic rock to jazz. All reasonably priced records. However, I didn't see a section for hip hop/rap/r&b. The staff was nice, welcoming, and answered any questions we had! Also had a large range of comic books, and vintage Nintendo games! If I've got good music and "old fashioned" games on the brain. . . I find myself driving to the Time Capsule. They have so much stuff!!! It all started when I had to replace my N64 and a large portion of my games. Disheartened at the amount of money I figured I'd have to spend on ebay auctions and website purchases, I was pleased to find out about the Time Capsule. They have a bulk of games, from SNES, N64, Xbox, to Sega games. . . the list goes on. I've picked up several N64 and SNES games, most of which were under $10 (the most popular games including Mario's, Donkey Kong's, etc are $15+). I was also able to get a wired controller for my replaced N64. It certainly doesn't end with games. . . They've got comic books, toys, collectibles, records, cd's, and dvd's. I've bought several records here. . . to play, to hang as artwork, to give as gifts. Cheap too!!! You really can't beat the prices here. The guy that works here (his name slips my mind at the moment, sorry!) is very knowledgable about what he has available in the store. Very helpful and willing to suggest things, it makes shopping here an enjoyable experience. When I was looking for decent copies of some Grateful Dead albums, he took down the names to check with the Cranston location and said he'd keep me in mind with upcoming shipments. Weeks later, I returned for some xmas gifts. . .come to find out, he remembered me and what I had requested. Can't ask for better service than that. I have also taken advantage of their buyback program and have unloaded some misc. SNES games that I never had an interest in playing as a young girl. . .or now. Fair prices, trading available. Terrible Customer Service and I'm glad I didnt make the drive to the store and called ahead. I Asked about a xbox 360 power supply which they did not have. I asked if they had an OG xbox or 360 with the original hard drive in it. The man over the phone explained that he wasnt sure what hard drive was in the 360. I took the time to explain that if they have an OG xbox game available, you can put it in the 360 and if it loads, the 360 has the original hard drive. If an error screen pops up and says it is no longer backwards compatible without the OG hard drive from microsoft. He had no interest in testing that out for me. Said something about he doesnt have the capabilities to do that. I asked if they have all the wires needed for the console and he said yes, I asked if they had an OG xbox game available to which he said yes and I explained again that I was interested in buying this if verified it is still backwards compatible. He had apparently had no interest in testing the 360 and told me again he "didnt have the capabilities" to do that.....Not helpful at all and I guess I'll buy what I need off amazon. So much for trying to support a local small business -.- read more

Love Time Capsule. Lots of retro gaming, comics and records. Some odds and ends, toys, collectibles. Decent prices. My husband is an avid retro gaming collector and today's pick ups were 1 snes game and 1nes game along with a wii ethernet adapter. He could browse this store all day. I should preface this by saying I went here this weekend strictly looking for new (to me) records and not so much anything comic or video game related. While the majority of this store is dedicated to the latter, their vinyl selection was excellent! If you're okay with digging, this place is certainly worth a stop. The staff is also very knowledgeable & friendly, which can sometimes be hard to find in such an environment. One of the guys there made sure to let me know when new records come in & get placed on the floor. I was able to pick up 5 awesome albums for under $25! The vinyl was in near perfect condition and the sleeves had some wear (to be expected). I was in heaven so I needed to have a little self control ;) I felt extremely comfortable hanging out and searching for some great records, I will most certainly be back for more. read more

Miss old comics you used to love and read, they got it! Miss that old Lionel Richie record you loved to listen to secretly, but lost...well I'm sure Time Capsule has it! This place is overflowing with old comics, video games, toys, records, and more nostalgia than you can deal with. I am a 90s baby, but I still am aware of the times that came before me. I have come to Time Capsule a handful of times, but I always leave saying I need to return here again. I usually go and check out what old video games they have ranging from Sega Dreamcast to even PS3 games. Time Capsule buys and sells products so If you have some stuff you are looking to get rid of I'm sure Time Capsule will take it off of your hands. I love going to this place, and the staff is always so friendly and helpful. Now the outside of the place is a bit rough, but trust me do not judge a book by its cover or the Freddy Kruger doll hanging in the window. Because once you are inside you will be impressed! I recently purchased a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game for Nintendo, but unfortunately it did not work. The great thing is the staff took the game back with open arms allowing me to exchange the game for another one, or any other product of equal or lessor value of the game, which was nice of them. Almost as cool as the original! (LOL) I'm a regular at the Cranston location but every time I visit the Seekonk store it's just as great an experience. Staff is just as friendly and laid back. Browse as long as yah like, no rush here. If you need help just ask (most collectors like to be left alone in the bargain bins!) Simply put, I -so- love this location. After my lukewarm/lackluster experience at the original, Cranston store last year, I was a bit unsure. Thankfully I was oh-so surprised. Very spacious, well lit and tidy, the layout is much easier to navigate making for a better time finding the perfect item. Great selection of LPs, CDs, DVDs & so forth aside from the obligatory huge comic offering. Unfortunately when we stopped in last week I was -just- coming down with strep and thus wasn't fully with it. Apparently they also had some nifty import games I totally missed out on. Service was welcoming and (on a personal note) I didn't feel so out of place as I did last time in Cranston. I am totally psyched to visit again in the near future and properly check everything out with more time on my hands, along with the very curiously flamboyantly lit coffee/donut place across the road. read more

What do you want out of your comic store? Large selection (check), friendly staff (check) and just a quiet atmosphere to bask in the greatness that is comic life (check). The Time Capsule always has me coming back, because we have lost out on what a comic store truly is. With comics becoming pop culture more than ever, we have hybrid stores that focus more on attire, gift items and comics get a distant 3rd sometimes even 4th rung on that list. It happens but glad that The Time Capsule truly puts comics front and center. Just like your friendly comic store, if they run out (which is rare) they are happy to order and even give you a call once they get them in. Awesome right? You think that would be par for the course for a store like this, nope. Elsewhere you would get the ol "we should get a delivery soon" line and expect you to come back and do your own search. One of my family's favorite places to visit, the Time Capsule has comics, comics and more comics, plus a huge selection of albums (not cds kids) from back in the day. They have a few collector's toys, Tshirts and other merchandise, but mostly if you're looking for comics, this is the place to go. The staff are friendly and helpful! Parking is limited, but the location is excellent. Stop by after having a big breakfast at Alex's restaurant just a moment up the street. read more

What a great find! I was able to get an N64 controller CHEAP so that I could be super cool and give The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time another go! They have everything from Magic: The Gathering trading cards to rare pez dispensers!! It's awesome that there is still a place to go to buy old records, atari games, and every other game console, game, accessory you could ever need! Fun anecdote: my car battery died while I was parked here and the owner took the time to help me jump it to get me home. That's your first tip that this is a great store. Gotta love it. Nobody's condescending here to people that don't know much about comics or music, which is, unfortunately, extremely common in a lot of specialty stores like this one. The selection is great, there are always surprises to find, and the staff are knowledgeable, personable, and helpful. Comics are always in on time and they get a great variety in every week. This is one of my favorite places to frequent, I visit here about once a week, sometimes twice if its a good week. Lots of comics, games cd's and geek stuff in general. If you're not quite sure what you're looking for, Jeff knows, and you will leave with more than you expected to. I have learned in this store that if you see it, buy, as it will be gone if you "hold off until next week" (lost out on a jacket and a set of empire strikes back pencils this way!). My wife and kids love it here too, they really have something for everybody. Its easy to drive past if you aren't paying attention, but worth turning around for! read more

After stopping by The Time Capsule in Cranston the other day, the owner told me he had opened another store in Seekonk. I stopped by yesterday and while it is not as big as the Cranston store, it was still worth the trip. I do collect quite a bit of stuff and my son collects too so we both were able to find some gems there. I bought a few classic rock records, the latest Walking Dead trade papeback and some Anime DVD's. My son found a few N64 and Sega Genesis he was looking for so I'll be back! read more

One of guys at the nearby Game Stop told me to check this place out because I was looking for old X-Box games. Good call! They have a ton of classic games (atari, nes, etc) and a whole bunch of crazy stuff. Comics, t-shirts, toys, old vinyl records (I guess video games isn't the only retro craze going on). When my younger brother comes in from out of town he likes me to take him to the Time Capsule. He's big into comics, games, and pretty much everything that is at the Time Capsule. The staff is knowledgeable, willing to help, and always gives me assistance when i'm trying to pick something out for my brother's birthday/xmas gifts when i wander in on my own. The only thing i will say is that we recent bought a nintendo gun here which was supposed to have been tested and when we got it home we noticed that there were exploded batteries in there. Gladly when we went back the next morning they were happy to exchange for something else. read more

This is definitely a neat little place, tucked in the outskirts of Seekonk with a wide variety of comic books and trinkets lost in the years past. Unfortunately, this place was just a little too small and didn't have much beyond basic comics and a smattering of manga. The staff is very friendly and allowed me to peruse around for a long period of time without buying anything. The Time Capsule in Seekonk Ma is a great place for comic buffs and also people who love old video games and records. The staff there are extremely nice and very helpful. This place has a great selection and some dude named Jeff who seems to be knowledgeable in all things unimportant (I.E. comics, music, and Babylon 5). Don't know what to read?
