It's 2019, I didn't know that in order to have decent customer service one had to dress up to go into a furniture store. I came into purchase a custom sofa and dining set because my husband and I could not find what we were looking for at other stores or even online. I came to shop on a weekend day in jeans and a T-shirt and flip-flops. I honestly did not think it would matter or affect how I would be treated in this furniture store. I was met by a sales lady who gave me the full up and down look like I could not afford anything in the store, and she was very cold in the way she spoke to me. I didn't feel like she was even trying to help me, just giving me short answers so that I would go away. She also followed me around the store. Eventually, she walked away from me long enough for me to speak with another lady who was behind the counter at the sales desk. But she was still within earshot when I asked the other sales lady behind the counter about delivery options, since my husband and I both work out of town a few days a week. She asked me what we did for a living that we were out of town so often and I told her what we did for a living. I also told her we lived on Southhill and gave her my address. Boy did the sales lady perk up then! Now both ladies were so attentive and wanted to show me furniture for every room and fabric samples! I knew exactly what was going on, and it made me very sad and disgusted that they would treat me one way when they thought that I didn't have any money to spend in their shop, but now they were overly attentive and nice. Recognizing this, I decided to leave the store. Stores like this do not deserve my hard-earned money or anyone else's for that matter. If you are a small business in this town, you really cannot afford to judge customers in this horrible way. Learn to treat your customers with dignity and you may be pleasantly surprised at making many more sales. I for one will not be back, and have since custom ordered our furniture from another shop. I am also happy to let my coworkers, family and friends here in town know about my horrible experience so that they don't make the same mistake in coming here. Treat people better. SEE 1 of several photos I shared with the Tin Roof taken ONLY 7 weeks having the chair in my home! . The Tin Roof NEVER offered a warranty on the furniture I bought. The Tin Roof NEVER DISCLOSED that the type of leather on this sofa and chair would TRANSFER DARK SPOTS from whatever clothing a person was wearing onto the furniture. The Tin Roof NEVER suggested to me I would need to sit on a throw when sitting on this expensive leather furniture or I would NEED to use a special leather cleaner to remove dark spots from the furniture. I requested to return with a full refund. The Tim Roof representative mentioned "reselect". But, the Tin Roof would NOT stand behind the products they sell if there's a problem. . Tin Roof sent a leather specialist to clean the chair with minimal results after working on it for more than 45 minutes- an hour. She said the Bassett furniture and hers would go into buying a cushion cover to replace the current one on the chair (never received). We have spent thousands of dollars at Tin Roof since 2019. We ordered a dining set and 6 chairs in 2019. We decided to order two more chairs in November 2020. When we went to pick them up 7 months later (yes, Covid played into this) the man handling them was not paying attention and damaged one chair carrying it out of storage. We declined the chair and talked to Tim Stoltz at the store. He said they would get it repaired. Instead, they used some stain to try and cover the two areas that were damaged. I again declined the chair. Tim told us this time he would order a new one. Four months later they delivered the new chair, but the delivery person noticed it was put together wrong, so left with it before even pulling it off the truck. They returned and I inspected the chair outside so I would notice any flaws. It looked great and we signed off on it. After placing at my table and having started to prep dinner, it was so apparently that the wood stain was an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT COLOR! After sending Tim the photos he said they had two in stock that might work. We took the wrong color chair down to the store along with one of the correct chairs so we could make absolutely sure the replacement matched. It does, but the seat is almost an inch and a half shorter in length. We were done. It was over a year. Tim said they would compensate/refund us a portion due to all of the issues. He told my husband a "check was in the mail" (for barely enough on the gas and time out of our schedules) and of course it has not arrived. I realize Covid has altered some things, but our first purchase there was a new bed. When IT arrived, it did not have the capability of being put together. Tim Roof remedied this and we never said a thing otherwise. But it appears they need people that can order, inspect and deliver the items as their customers order them. read more

This furniture store has medium to high end products. I think they are really serving a higher end client as a result. The furniture was not really in our price range or style. The folks running the store seemed to be helpful enough but really when looking for something like a chair it really just requires a lot of sitting to find what you like. This store sells dining room, bedroom, and living room furniture. It appears that this store does quite a bit of custom order items as well. I really thought it was interesting that this higher end shop is located in a lower end part of town as well. read more

The customer service (Tami or Karen) belittled me in front of my family and other customer's. It was very easy to go in and buy the furniture. They have a very nice selection. After the purchase and when delivered the problem began. One of my chairs came damaged as did the tray to my coffee table. When I received the replacement it too was damaged. Have never heard about another replacement. I did call about the chair and someone reported a damage claim. I have no idea what is happening with that. Then one of the recliners I purchased started to make clunking noise, I reported that and was assured that the manager would call me. It is now two weeks and I have called multiple times with no call back from the manager. My daughter purchased chairs from them and got completely wrong chairs. Still waiting for the new ones. Beautiful furniture but NO service after the sale. We spent $11,000 on new living furniture and $800 on a new chandelier in 2020. The chandelier has been a problem. There was a chandelier that we liked in the show room. We were offered a special price on the show room chandelier but chose not to purchase because one of the light sockets was broken and didn't want to risk more problems so we ordered a new one. We now are having the same problem Tin Roof had with their light. We were hoping they could offer a solution, as they were able to fix their light. I have contacted Tin Roof via text starting in January 2022 to see if they had any solutions. For three months now I have been told someone was going to get back to me; service manager, store manager, and that has not happened. Good luck if you buy! We won't be back!! read more

Where to begin. We recently purchased a Basset sofa online for our vacation home in Nine Mile Falls. I received an e-mail from Basset that Tin Roof will be the local rep and would take care of all the customer service. If you want terrible customer service this is the place for you. I never received one phone call from Tin Roof about my purchase. After several calls I found out Tim the manager was in charge of my order. I left messages for him to call me, still nothing. I finally got him on the phone and his response was "sorry my bad" Tim was rude and had a very," I could careless" attitude. I live in CA so a lot of organization has to take place for delivery. I knew it would be several months to have the sofa made and I was fine with that but I had to contact Basset for any updates on arrival. When it did arrive in Tin Roof's warehouse I again tried several times to contact Tim. When I finally got him on the phone he was rude and dismissive. He transferred me to Tammy who was nice enough to schedule my delivery. She listened to my concerns and assured me this wasn't the way they do business. Her way of making it up was to give me a $100 gift card if I spend $200. Seriously, no thanks. I have a whole house to furnish but I will never step foot in Tin Roof. The store had some beautiful pieces but I was literally followed around by the sales rep who then proceeded to scold a younger rep for talking to me as she was "helping me already". Apparently they claim there steak on the act of greeting a customer & stalking them throughout the store. The younger gal quickly walked away after being shamed and embarrassed. Despite the cool furniture I will never visit there again after seeing how aggressive they are. We had a great experience buying furniture for our entertainment room. The salesperson was knowledgeable, not pushy and everything we were interested in was in stock. Scheduling delivery was easy and convenient and the delivery guys were top notch. We had added a battery pack for a power recliner loveseat and one of the delivery guys talked me through how to install it, charge it, etc., They were respectful, wore masks and the second gentleman exited the house as soon as he was done with his part in moving the furniture. They offer average furniture and mark it up SO high, you would expect it to be hand made from Italy. It's not. Rather, it is slave made in China. The pieces are not unique at all. Great customer service and very helpful but for selling high end furniture we expected much more out of our purchase. Our sofa is almost 5 years old and is not holding up at all. We invested in a very pricey couch and love seat because it was one of the only brands that doesn't use chemicals in their products. Unfortunately, the foam is already very broken down and getting uncomfortable to sit on. You can't rest against the arms without the framework digging into your back. Lesson learned. High end furniture stores don't always equal better furniture. This is not a direct reflection of the store itself, but the disappointment comes from being recommended a sofa that was to last and hold up well. Which it hasn't. read more

Stopped by The Tin Roof yesterday and was blown away, this store is a true Spokane gem! The furniture and decor is comprised of a mix of traditional and contemporary offering something for everyone. My husband and I were immediately greeted and were offered coffee. The sales people are friendly and helpful; not the least bit pushy. I wanted so many things! Extremely poor customer service. Twice we have experienced the same thing with The Tin Roof: when we had problems with the furniture, they placed the blame on the manufacturer and/or claimed that we did not care for the furniture properly, and they refused to take responsibility for the product they sold. The most recent experience is with a leather chair we purchased several years ago. We treated it as instructed, but after awhile noticed cracks developing. We thought that odd, but when recently it started peeling, we realized it was not actually a real leather chair. The Tin Roof refuses to take responsibility. All they would do is blame shift, saying we did not care for the chair properly. They were deaf to the message that it was not a care problem, but rather the problem started when they sold us a chair which was called leather, but was actually bonded leather. What is happening to our chair is exactly what happens to bonded leather chairs. I recommend not shopping at The Tin Roof. They have an integrity problem, and they are not interested in standing behind the products they sell. The man from Tin Roof who spoke with my wife, told her today that they do not have "sales people" at their store. He said that the customer needs to know what he or she wants. The employees at The Tin Roof, he said, are not expected to explain things like the fact that a "leather" chair, is not leather. He interrupted her several times, and then launched into a long story of his version of how we probably shopped (even though he was not there), implying that we likely were confused after looking at many pieces of furniture. It was, frankly, very odd that he did that. He was trying every angle possible to not accept responsibility. We did not ask The Tin Roof for compensation. We called to tell them that they sold us a chair advertised as leather, which was not leather--and that they were responsible for that action. However, The Tin Roof does not accept responsibility for the furniture they sell. read more

We purchased two sofas at over 5k. They arrived and we noticed the fabric wasn't nearly as nice as the sample we chose. Contacted the store and they stated the mfg was at the mercy of the mills. Therefore they are not liable nor is the store. They refused to take them back. it is just variations and customer is stuck. The discrepancies is quite noticeable. Sample on floor was 8 years old and fabrics change. This store should stand behind their product. I made it clear I would not have purchased these sofas in the fabric I rec'd and I would never buy from a store with such poor customer service. I will be buying all my furniture from Madison Home as they stand behind what they sell. I'm disappointed and will have to live with these for years to come. I say shop elsewhere. Definitely the coolest furniture in town. A great collection of furniture and accessories in a big space where you can see everything. It's a bit pricey but they have big sales and bargain items on the floor. They also have a clearance place, "Reskued" that is right behind the main store. The staff are friendly but not pushy. Poor customer service! We purchased a chair that apparently had a staple come loose - not really a big deal. So, I contacted the customer service rep for Tin Roof and was made to feel that my "bargain" $750 chair was such a deal that I was on my own for the repair.
