    Sparkling wine.

We have been hanging out at the wine bar for over 6 months and have enjoyed it the whole time. The service has been great, wine selection awesome, beers selection is huge but i stick to one beer that i love. They also have lots of different snacks/food that is really good. We now meet our friends there and have noticed it's a great couples date night hangout.

It's a fun environment where we struck up great conversations not only with the owners, Jim and Katherine, but with locals.

In my opinion, this place doesn't even deserve one star. I was a regular customer for over 10…read moreyears, but I'll never be back. The bartender, Lucy, repeatedly added money to the tip jar without asking, which left me feeling like my money was being taken without my consent. The food has also gone downhill, and the area around the bathrooms consistently smelled like urine. The biggest reason I won't return is the new security guard. Based on my own experience, he previously came into the bar when he didnt work there and frequently made young women uncomfortable by hitting on freshly 21-year-old customers and staring at people from the corner and makeing nasty comments . Now he's working security and using his phone while checking IDs, which did not make me feel comfortable. I know this man and im not letting him take photos of my id for his stash. The atmosphere has completely changed. What used to feel like a neighborhood bar now feels like an over-policed club. Security constantly follows customers around, making it impossible to relax and enjoy yourself. On top of that, the security guard regularly smokes in the entrance, blowing cigarette smoke toward customers as they walk in. It's unprofessional and creates a terrible first impression. From what I personally observed, many of the other employees seemed frustrated with the behavior of these two staff members as well. After more than a decade of being a loyal customer, I'm extremely disappointed in what this place has become. I can't recommend it to anyone. There are plenty of better bars that treat their customers with respect.

Their tap list is weak. Their drink program is uncreative and unremarkable. The environment is smelly, dated, and uninteresting. They are primarily a sports bar. It's a place to watch tv. The food is not good. Greasy and generic. But the service is excellent, and they have decent pool tables... There you go.

Classic old timey marina type bar style. There's a pool table smack dab in the middle of the bar. Their muscles and garlic bread are fantastic. Fresh, flavorful, savory, everything you want from mussels! The fish and chips was also great!

We wanted a place to watch the World Cup game that was on, and they definitely had it playing. Their tv's are a little small, but well positioned for all the tables/booths. The staff was very friendly, but seemed rushed/preoccupied most of the afternoon. I totally understand the lunch rush, plus the game, but we felt forgotten about a few times. Also, this kind of led into a couple small items we ordered being forgotten about. HOWEVER, we did get our main entrees and drinks, and those were so amazing. I wanted to try everything on the menu! While we were waiting for a table we actually met a few locals and they praised Toby's! We were just a little disappointed with the service, but everyone was super friendly! Note: I apologize for not taking pictures of our food, we were so hungry we dove right in!

The service is friendly, knowledgeable and excellent and the food is creative and interesting. Whidbey tends to do classic dishes well but is a bit light on the innovative creative dishes - this place makes up for that gap. We had the asparagus special on a potato puree which we loved as well as the "Curd" pizza which was super interesting. Bonus is the Roost has a water view!

I mean, wood-fired oven, eclectic ingredients, and local sourcing. What's not to like, right? Well... We ordered the sausage and added their garlic mushroom special topping. While the crust had just the right amount of char, it was really chewy. It may be grown and milled locally, but it lacked the crispness and airiness of a good Napolitano pizza crust. Also, we paid an additional $8 for the mushrooms. There were minuscule amounts on our pizza. There wasn't that much of sausage, either. We ordered a glass of Sangiovese and another of Tempranillo. They were imported and fairly acidic. Why not take advantage of the great WA wines? The guy handling the orders (dark hair and a good amount of ink) was great. He apologized that they had just run out of the Walla Walla onions we wanted to add to our pizza. He gave us a reasonably good estimate of the wait time. When we finished our wines and decided to change our dine-in to to-go, he made it happen with no issues, despite dealing with a long line of people placing orders.
