I can't even count the number of issues with the Tolls roads. If you have a credit card on file they still don't charge you and late give you a violation. You have to back check it EACH time. And if you try to pay the same day it doesn't post so you can't pay and have to check back later. There is usually a problem to sign into the app. The website is no better. read more

I drive the 73 toll road a lot and it's like having my own freeway. It's beautifully paved and scenic. I don't mind paying every month when my statement arrives via email. An absolute joke. I travelled to California for vacation, and opted to use a toll road during my stay, knowing that I would have a small bill for it. Upon returning home, I received a statement reflecting a $7.07 charge. The very next day, my husband went into emergency surgery. I misplaced the notice during all the chaos - completely my fault. However, several days later I CALLED their customer service line to settle up on the $7.07. The person I spoke with was on the line with me for 10 minutes looking for the account, and was unable to locate anything with my license plate. Yesterday I came home to find a $207.70 bill in my mailbox. $200 in fines!!! I am being charged $200 in fines on a $7.07 balance. What sort of absurdity is that? So I called, hoping I would be able to speak with someone and explain. I called. I tried to pay this. I recited the date, time, the person I spoke with and even the length of the call to the representative that answered. After being on hold for several minutes, he came back onto the line and informed me that I will still be required to pay a $40 violation fine. Even after I explained that I tried to make it right and pay it, he simply refused. I now had to pay $47.07 for a $7.07 toll. I realize that I misplaced the original notice. Yes. That's on me. But I TRIED to do the right thing by calling and settling up. They told me not to worry about it. And now this. Smh. Note to self and anyone that takes the time to read this - record your calls with The Toll Roads. I don't care how nice it is to "have the roads to yourself". It's a total scam. read more

Is there a ZERO star rating because this SCAM would deserve it. We got charged for riding in the carpool lanes on the 15 in San Diego with 2 people in the car multiple times! This happened after we found a 10 year sealed with 2 bags not just 1 as required but 2 bags transponder in our glove box that we were told would no longer work. We were told those were disabled and now you HAD to use a new windshield sticker. After being charged multiple times with 2 people in the front seat we finally ripped the sticker off. Now they say this decade old transponder that was in 2 sealed bags, which was what you were supposed to do way back when, take it out when a single and put it back when carpooling is going to be charged everytime you go in the carpool no matter how many people are in the car. Seems illegal to us, we have canceled our account forever!!! Good Riddance I am going to spread the truth about these thieves on every platform available. The Toll Roads refuses to recognize a Personalized plate issued by the CaDMV and registered as a Disabled Veteran plate. Although I have a standing Toll Road account and responder tag on my vehicle. I was coming home on 7/25 after 10pm North on the I5 I merged onto the 73 North. Toll is free if you exit at the first exit onto Greenfield. Due to road construction the exit was closed forcing me to take the next exit and I received the charge. I disputed the charge yet this useless company denied my refund. read more

So be careful with these Fast Track companies and carpool lanes. In order to carpool on certain fast-track Lanes in California you have to have a $20 responder on top of the Fast Track sticker that you put in your car. I just called in to get a penalty that was sent to me in the mail cleared up. The representative was very clear about what was going on. We had some old accounts and a current account, the recent use of the road was by our vehicle that had been put on a deactive account. She cleaned up the accounts, charged us for some past unpaid tolls, applied a credit we had and got rid of the penalty charge that was current. Everything worked better than most companies I call. She also sent out two new transponders just to make sure we are all up to date with those. Very good customer service and when the 405 is a parking lot, this toll road is a great option for getting to LAX in a timely way from SD. read more

Horrible! Never came across bigger scam. clicked navigation on "no toll road" twice to make sure it'll take us to regular freeway, but to our surprise we landed on 73 so called toll road. OK, received a notice of violation 3 weeks later.$6.47 for toll and $57.50 penalty! What??? Called but much to my surprise, I've been told yes you didn't pay within 5 days!! Excuse me"The IRS gives you more time to pay". The fact is , yes I went on line to pay, their website didn't recognize my LICENSE PLATE, because it's personalized! 3 attempts no avail, however according to CSR Michelle, "I'm sorry the system can't recognize personalized plates" How the hell on earth you can pay the fine if you don't have violation number system does'nt recognize your plate. I asked her which politician is in charge of this highway robbery, she replied THE STATE. Living in Los Angeles, w'ere used to be gouged, but I have never seen anything like this in my life. When I called them they just said that "it's a valid toll", even though I have proof that my vehicles haven't left my house in another state for over 2 months! Well what if you sell the car or return the lease, but don't think about this foolish account? You got it: they charge you for someone else's use of your former car (that you don't own or operate) and won't give you any revisions on this at all. It's a total joke! I haven't lived in California for the past two years, but received a notice for a balance due for a car that I traded in 2 years ago. When I called I was told that if I provided the bill of sale, the toll fee would be waived. I did what was asked of me, and now they're saying that even though I showed the bill of sale, the vehicle wasn't "removed" from my account until a week ago, so I am still responsible for the toll balance accrued up to that point... I don't understand how they could track down my address on the other side of the country, but can't figure out the person who the vehicle is registered to that used the toll road. The road conditions are good, so you get what you pay for. However, once you have to go online and pay within 5 days your toll, it starts to get all blurry for me. Since I am not from the area, I had to remember the exit numbers etc? I mean that's a way to do it, but why providing such an unclear website? You can at least make the map more clear connecting the entrance and exit points once you slide over with your mouse. The personnel answering the phone (I've made 6 calls regarding my issue) are always very nice but have not taken care of my issue even though I have been told repeatedly it was and even received a letter stating the toll violation was not mine. Then I receive yet another bill for the same violation that all agree is not mine. I call again and somehow this information was not in the file Brianna found! I gave up and paid the $13.32 which should have been Hoehn Acuras responsibility, They did not transfer the car out of my name when I returned it to them. Each time, when prompted to SUBMIT, i hit the SUBMIT button and get no confirmation. Instead, I am taken to the top webpage. I assume that the CREATE ACCOUNT online form is not working 1) due to the description of the site's behavior above and 2) because I am not able to sign in using the ID and PASSWORD that i entered into the form. 73 Toll Road used to have a toll booth to pay your "leg" as you drove it; no longer. This notion of having to go online within 5 days and pay your toll is @#$%^#$^. In the past, I've completely forgotten to do so and they're standing by waiting to fine you. I had a Toll Road account for YEARS. This past year i found over $500 in charges that were for a car we no longer had. When i brought this to their attention and sent them proof we no longer had the vehicle and was due a refund of the charges put on our card they dragged their feet, bounced me from one person to another and basically did nothing to help! i finally had to contact my credit card company to fight the charges. I am a 4th generation native of Orange County - now living in Arizona. I travel between states often, both for business and to see family. I had no problem paying the tolls and was even proud of how California was making a great impression with the friendly toll takers. BUT WTF happened?? I am particularly wondering what tourists are supposed to do - driving by a couple of signs at 65mph and not knowing what to do or what is expected. (I had to ask my family how it was now done). They are supposed to take a time out during a vacation with kids to go to the website and get their toll paid on time??? Gee - Welcome to California to our main source of economic income!!! THEN, I am supposed to remember DURING a stressful/busy business seminar that I have to go to the website and circumvent information that is too detailed and takes 10-15 minutes?? I drove on toll road on 1-13-18 and had a good experience, however, today 1-17-18 4 days afterwards I am not able to pay my toll online thetollroads.com. On my laptop pc and mac i enter my license plate and then its asking me for my state CA but the site will not allow any entry or pre selected state..this prompt is blank and working. I can not continue! I use three different web browsers. I use the free app for iPhone and then it tells me the state I've selected is an "invalid state". I've take screen shots of the site to ensure I don't get bullied into accepting a violation. read more

Would give ZERO stars if I could. I ordered a transponder because I thought that taking the toll roads would be more convenient. After realizing how expensive it is I figured forget it, I'll just take regular routes, so I refused the package that included the transponder and get a refund. Did that and now it's been a month and a half with NO refund. I emailed multiple times and the only thing that gets said is. "Your account will be closed after 21 days and your account will be refunded with the remaining balance" that's it. Nothing else was even said. It's now been 36 days and nothing. I call, and I'm on hold for 34 minutes due to 60 calls being ahead of me, are you fucking kidding!?! 60 calls so I hang up and call back 20 minutes later. SAME THING. Oh yeh? Every time you call there are 60 callers? This is the WORST COMPANY do NOT give them any of your money. Beware of the toll roads! We went on a trip to Orange County and there's no toll booths but there are signs that say to pay online. The problem with this is that when you're on a mini-vacation you're not going to be thinking the entire time that you have to pay for the toll road once you've reached your destination. You want to have fun and that's exactly what we did and I just happened to remember weeks later that we didn't pay it online. When I found the website after a Google search, it was so confusing to make the payment. The website has so many detailed questions, which include what exit you took and where you were coming from. These aren't things people tend to remember about a vacation trip but luckily they had an "I don't know" option. We made the payment but we're not sure if we're going to get fined because it was weeks later. The toll road was a little over $7 each time but I think the fine is close to $60. Just to be on the safe side, we will never take the toll road again. read more

Absolutely pathetic organization bordering on corrupt. Issued new sticker transponder in October that was stolen. I reported it immediately and sure enough when the invoice came in November there were several trips charged to my account due to that sticker. Called immediately to report the charges and didn't have record of my original complaint so I filed another with nor response back after 30 days. Filed an email complaint with no response so called again and reported the issue. Now I finally get a call back that says they won't honor the situation and pay me back because it is after 30 days from the charges. This is a messed up organization!
