I lived at Tom Scott Apartments, managed by Greystar, and my experience was extremely frustrating and felt predatory. I completed my 14‑month lease and moved out on 2/4/26. I submitted a 45‑day notice instead of 60 and the leasing office accepted it without warning that I would be charged an extra $1,637.07 for insufficient notice. My final February statement showed no balance and only after I moved out did I receive the bill. When I called, I spoke with Dalton from the leasing office. At no point was it made clear that 45 days would trigger another full month of rent. I paid the balance to protect my credit, but this felt intentional, misleading, and predatory. The amenities like the pool and gym are frequently closed, the outdoor TVs don't even have remotes, and when it gets warm the property reeks like dog urine all over the complex. For what they charge in rent, this is unacceptable. Do not rent here. Get everything in writing and think twice before dealing with management. read more

DONT DO IT! If I could give this place zero stars, I would just because of the move in and move out experience. The move-in experience was so messy because the management team was so unorganized. And for move out they will try to squeeze every dollar they can out of you. We left our apartment in just as good (if not better) condition than when we moved in, which wasn't good to begin with, and we made sure to document all of that. For move out we even hired a professional cleaner and they still charged us for a ridiculous list of "damages" that were either non existent, normal wear, or things we already moved into the apt with. When we asked for proof, they sent low quality photos of random walls and things where you couldn't even see a mark. They only started being somewhat responsive after we told them how we filed a claim with the ATTORNEY GENERALS office. Otherwise they refused to cooperate and discuss the charges fairly. They also charged us for an extra week worth of rent past our move out date, even though all keys were turned in on time and they received a written notice before the deadline. If you value honesty, transparency, or basic fairness, do not rent here. I want to save you from the headache and loss of money. Worst Apartment Complex! I had problems with my neighbor and the apartment complex did nothing about it. I made several police and security reports regarding this neighbor's harassment and noise disturbance. This ultimately forced me to break my lease agreement and moved out. Managers were not willing to work with me to waive the lease termination fee despite them fully aware of what happened. Both the manager and assistant manager were not helpful. They withheld information and did not answer my questions fully. I asked about the payment options regarding the lease termination fee. There are two options the buy out fee or the accelerated rent (more expensive). I asked about the process of paying the buy out fee. I was not informed how to pay it. I know it is on the lease agreement but it would have been nice to let me know when I asked. Now I missed the deadline for the buy out fee and they are now charging me over $10,000. Definitely worst management! They have also been refusing to give us the corporate contact information. They knew they were doing something wrong! read more

So many amazing things to say about this community: I first want to start by giving a HUGE shout out to Kim for her amazing tour and the knowledge she has about this property. As someone who worked in leasing for 5+ years, Kim is the type of person that you can tell LOVES the property she is at. The minute my boyfriend and I got home, we applied! The property is beautiful and the units have so much space, for a perfect price. What really drew me in was the amenities.. everything was just the perfect amount and wasn't overbearing. ABSOLUTELY HORRID experience living at Tomscot apartments. Front desk staff/leasing agents are rude. The package room is a DISASTER, I had 3 stolen packages in 8 months I lived there. There are cameras in the package room but they can't be looked at unless it by the police?! Absolutely useless. The apartments themselves feel like a jail cell, nothing homey about them, 10ft ceilings in only half of the apartment (kitchen/living room). Maintenance takes weeks to get to your service requests. If you still decide to move-in here, take pictures of everything: all documents, all damages prior to move-in, and take pictures of everything when you move out. Even take a picture of you handing the documents to the staff. They "lost" our move-in inspection sheet and are trying to charge us over $800 in damages. Replacement of a stovetop!? The unit is 6 years old, obviously you'll need to replace it eventually but we SHOULDN'T be charged for normal wear on an appliance. Definitely calling BS on some of these reviews. They either paid to have bad ones removed/hidden or added a ton of fake positive ones. Save your money and find somewhere newer for the same price. read more

I looked up on LinkedIn was able to find the name of the regional manager for the Phoenix area. Her name Patrice Kimmerle. I emailed her and have not heard back. Jasmyn and Kat refused to give me any information . They are also accessing a $160.00 cleaning fee I was told, even though the place was spotless when I left. I just wanna say I love this complex!! The staff around the complex is amazing and especially the leasing office staff!! With all this chaos going on they've still been EXTREMELY helpful and attentive to my needs in the apartment or just things around the complex that needed to be addressed. Jasmyn was the first person I met and she had me hooked on the complex and convinced me to sign my first lease moving out here to Arizona end of last year. I'd have to say she is amazing! Extremely patient and helpful! She's always responsive if I have any issues in my unit that need to be addressed. If you're deciding on an apartment complex is highly recommend The Tomscot!! Lauren has got to be the worst tour guide ever. She had no sense of customer service at all. We arrived early and was treated like we were a nuisance to her. We were sent to a playroom and was left there for 25 mins and We had to go seek her out to remind her that we were still there waiting for her. The tour was a joke. She pretty much glossed over everything about the place. Keep in mind we had been given this tour before from Amanda which was a amazing tour person. Lauren seemed irritated by us, she answered no questions at all, she made no eye contact with us whatsoever and she pretty much sucked. The quote she gave us was overinflated compared to what we already had. We have the paperwork to compare. If this is the face of "Tomscot" then that is horrible! What a disappointment to the entire property. Put her out her misery of her misery and let her go already. I would never recommend this to anyone! read more

I'm posting this to yelp because they have deleted multiple reviews in the last few months. Specifically my review to Google. Do yourself a favor and run from this place! The only good thing about the Tomscot is the location to old town, everything else about this place will make you hate your living conditions. Management is absolutely horrendous, if you want to be talked down to and told that what you are experiencing is probably not real, just go ahead and chat with anyone in the office. Good luck getting a response from anyone if you have a legitimate problem, once you sign your lease the team goes from being nice to not caring at all. We have folders of emails that were never responded to. The walls and doors are paper thin, if you're lucky enough to live anywhere other than the 4th floor you'll hear the people above you nonstop. If you want to break the rules, go ahead...dog poop everywhere, with no repercussions if you don't clean up after your animals. Speaking of animals the "two dog - 100lb limit" in the lease is a joke, our neighbor had 5 dogs, 4 of which were massive, aggressive German Shepards and they would bounce off the walls and were almost never on a leash(also in the lease - pets on leashes at all times). Security...non existent, the gates to the garage were broken and stuck open more often than not. If this place doesn't get its act together they are going to end up with a lawsuit. My husband and I moved to Scottsdale and into the TomScot a little over 3 months ago and we love it! The leasing staff is very friendly and responsive and the maintenance team is off the charts! We have had a couple of small adjustments made by maintenance and they are so respectful and helpful. The move-in process was a breeze and the apartments are exactly how they are depicted. And if you ever go in person or try and talk to anyone I guarantee that they haven't even thought about it since goy spoke to them last time and haven't spoken to any of their coworkers to fix it. For the price you pay to live there absolutely not worth it. Terrible Landlords and just an awful experience. I can't believe the people who work there have kept their jobs. They should feel embarrassed. How hard is it to see a maintenance request, read what it's for and then have the maintenance crew go fix it? I have lived in Arizona for coming up on 7 years. The Tomscot is by far my favorite residence. The staff and maintenance crew are rockstars. The staff is always available to answer any questions or address any concerns. They plan fun and entertaining events month to month. I have never had a bad experience with them. If someone feels different it is probably because they went about the situation poorly. Maintenance, maintenance, maintenance. They seem to have an overall bad rep when living in apartments, but not here. They are the complete other side of that coin. They are constantly on top random issues and are always available to help. Like always.. they have a 24/7 hotline and I've used it. Above and beyond they take the time to explain issues and how to prevent them. The community is fun. If want to live under a rock I don't suggest you live here. On top of being engaging the complex supports many small businesses which is incredibly innovative. Lastly, if you like new places with new commodities (grill, gym, coffee machines...) The Tomscot is great. Can't say enough how pleased I am living here. It was the last stop on my apartment hunt a year ago and I am still here. But don't take my word for it. Give it a tour for yourself! read more

Be prepared to spend $600-$1500 to move out of TOMSCOT due to cleaning and maintenance charges. Not one email, phone call or any type of communication when it comes to the move out process. Also if you plan on mounting your Tv...don't. Paint fee for that made up 3/4 of our move out bill. Elevators won't work, enjoy the exercise up the stairs. appliances break...hope your parents live near by to do your laundry for 2 months. Read your lease, they are sneaky. They moved us into a unit with severe scratches on the floor just to charge us for it 2 years later. Also never order anything by mail, package room looks like a bomb went off in there. If you're thinking about buying a house or living at TOMSCOT...buy the house cause you'll end up paying as much renting from a grey star property. read more

I never write reviews but I had to share my experience here. I lived at the Tomscot for one year and I will say the move in and move out process was horrid due to the office staff. They are so unorganized, constantly losing mine and my roommates' paperwork and forms. They would call and email us saying they never received "xy&z" from us ... only to get another call later on saying that they actually did have it and misplaced it. Oops! They also tried to charge us for a key fob after moving out and claimed they never received it even though we turned them in. Because of this they also tried to bill us daily charges because "we hadn't communicated we moved out" to them- even though we did both verbally and multiple written notices. (that is just the latest example of them being unorganized). They do not communicate to each other, are unprofessional- especially Kat, who was extremely rude and had a huge attitude over the phone when I was trying to have a conversation with her during the move out process. Oh and don't get your mail delivered there. The package room is an absolute mess, basically a free for all to any resident and it is so hard to find your packages in there. I've had residents tell me their packages were stolen. I also had a package stuck in the locker parcel, and I asked Kym at the front desk if she could check if it was in there for me. I was told Kym "checked and it was not there", so I got Amazon to replace my package. A couple of days later after I had already moved out, Kym said she checked and found it. Too late. Pretty sure I was lied to the first time I asked about them checking for me. The Tomscot really tries to milk your money out of you. They also sent us a $400 bill after moving out which was very vague and said "cleaning and painting fee". Never have I ever had an apartment do this. Isn't it expected that they will have to clean before a new tenant moves in anyways, even though we did clean it after moving out as well? BS. The apartment is beautiful and a nice space which is why I gave 2 stars. But the elevators are broken 50% of the time. I hate leaving negative reviews but myself and my roommates where so upset and frustrated about our experience with the staff there, so I thought a heads up for anyone else thinking about moving here was necessary. read more

STAFF: Very professional and courteous from front office to maintenance. Quick to respond to any requests or questions. Worked with Amanda initially who was fantastic but have had excellent experiences with other staff members as well. AMENITIES: Amazing! Beautiful pool areas. Building 1 has a very social atmosphere and definitely more of a fun/party pool area. People actually use the ping pong tables and other game set ups on a regular basis. Can be a little noisy if your room faces the pool area but that's to be expected considering the atmosphere. Building 2 is definitely more of a SPA vibe and best choice if you prefer a quieter scene. Gym is great with state of the art cardio and agility equipment. Been taking full advantage of the PELOTON bikes. INDOOR GOLF SIMULATOR with couches and a flat screen tv for hosting - Main reason I signed up! lol Business/common area is great for those who work from home or want to entertain. They have FREE STARBUCKS! Dog Play Area: I personally take my pup on bathroom walks around the perimeter of the complex where they have doggy bag stations in very convenient locations. Bonus: Almost every night around 9pm a lot of residents get together with their dogs in the play area to let them play. Complex and residents have been very pet friendly. Chaparral Dog Park is also close by and one of the best parks I've been to. APARTMENTS: Beautiful with tons of storage space. Can't hear neighbors at all. They sell themselves. read more

DO NOT LIVE HERE!! Unless you're trying to live at a club. I'm a current resident and there is CONSTANT bass shaking my apartment. You would think since their walls are SO thin that they wouldn't allow residents to blast subwoofers, but they do. And when you try and call about it, theres no one to reach, or they write a noise complaint and do nothing about it. This issue causes me and my boyfriend constant migraines, to the point where some nights I go to his place just so I can have a quiet sleep. Wow. I found happiness in Scottsdale. I moved here from Cali. After living in North Scottsdale and PV, I found my home at The Tom Scot. Friendly neighbors. Amazing front office staff. Super modern, brand new building. State of the Art fitness facility - and my favorite part, SUPER CLEAN. This place is run very well. Kinda of like a 4 star hotel. I LOVE IT here. I don't typically write shitty reviews but this place has earned it. I moved in January of 2020 and it has only gone downhill since. The leasing office is constantly switching staff, losing paperwork, ignoring phone calls, etc. I spent 6+ months on a month to month lease because my paperwork was filled out incorrectly, then lost, then the person helping me was fired so we had to start over completely. After talking with manager and being told she would resolve our issues and get the lease smoothed out, she quit and we had to start over again. Every time they sent the new lease, something was incorrect and I had to point it out since they were never aware. This went on for another month or so. Since our most recent renewal, our portal shows over double the correct amount, with multiple rent charges (all different rates), multiple pet rent charges, $600 for the last 6 months of our garage spot (because they conveniently denied knowing we were paying for it all along), random late fees, etc. I have since called the office multiple times and am only told that they cannot help me and that I will get a call back, which of course, does not happen. This has gone on for the last year. The worst management I have ever seen. Save your money and live elsewhere. read more

Lauren was absolutely fantastic, when I came in I was greeted with a friendly smile and warm welcome. She took me on a tour of the apartments and all the amenities. While not only showing me how nice the apartment was but also how nice the community there was! I was absolutely blown away with how professional and kind she was. Unfortunately there were no available apartments at the time but the tomscot is at the top of my list for where I want to live when there is an opening! Everythings great except the fact that the outside reserved parking is not actually "reserved". I have been here a mere 3 weeks and every week I have to pray that no idiot parks in my spot that I am paying for monthly. The fact that they dont let you tow the stupid kids that park there on the weekend just means that you can park literally anywhere outside even if it is reserved, and no one can do anything about it but leave a note. They need better towing management for outside parking or just make it free because its literally still a free for all. No one will follow the rules if there are 0 consequences. There are lounge chairs in the pool area that are amplified with subwoofers. It sounds like there is a concert outside of my home throughout the day and at night. The sound from the lounge chairs is so powerful that even when the music is being played at a moderate level, I can hear it from the furthest end of my apartment. I hear constant thumping and bumping even when I am in the shower with the water running. Residents often blare the music and have no respect or consideration for their neighbors. At night when I am trying to rest, residents play the music while they are in the hot tub. Last Saturday, someone decided to blare the music at 2:00am. I was unable to fall back asleep the rest of the night. I have brought my concerns to the attention of management and I asked for the sound feature in the pool area to be removed since it is being abused and causing constant noise disturbances and there is no way to regulate the volume. Their response was that the owners want to keep the lounge chairs because they want to encourage social gatherings, despite the numerous noise complaints they have received. It's unfortunate because this unnecessary feature is causing me to dislike my home. I would not recommend living here if you enjoy a quiet space inside your home. read more
