This practice has a common issue of Over-billing. They tell you they take your insurance then you…read moreend up with a larger bill than you should for what insurance "did not cover". I was concerned for my daughters teeth as a new tooth was coming in behind her current teeth, I exchanged consult messages with them and photos (My child was a current client) and was advised the earliest they could get me in was two weeks, and they needed an xray to confirm the new tooth was not absorbing the old roots. As a parent, not knowing anything about dental, this made me freak out worse and feel the need of a sooner appointment. Two weeks later and my wife took my daughter to the appointment today, she was in and out in less than 6 minutes for the grand charge of $150 plus my insurance is being billed. My wife was told this is very common and nothing to be concerned with. The consult messages only mentioned this may be common AFTER they booked an appointment and scheduled X-Rays. I then started to research it and it is very common, called "Shark Teeth" and unless the child is feeling pain there is no need for a dental appointment or alarm. I was never asked about her feeling pain, or told of just how common this was, instead they used a parents concern for their child to schedule a meaningless appointment to milk us for money. This was 100% a cash grab, and prior appointments were the same. They bill insurance, then hit you with 2-300% what the typical cost for services are, and I would assume its solely due to the location in South Tampa and the expectation we are willing to be taken advantage of or pay more.

The kids loved that they both got to sit in dental chairs next to each other. After filling out the paperwork, we were brought back quickly, and everything happened in good order. I highly recommend this office for young kids.

I recently took my 2-year-old daughter here for her first dental appointment. I'd researched a lot…read moreof pediatric dentists in South Tampa only to find out that this place was the only one covered by my insurance. Perusing the websites, the other pediatric dental offices seemed a lot more current and kid-friendly but I decided to give this one a go because the cost would be dramatically reduced by using insurance. I'm giving the overall experience two stars because the office was clean and the staff were pleasant. They were also timely with our appointment - nothing worse than having an interminable wait for the doc with a toddler. The dentist himself was nice enough too. Since this was our first appointment, we started with a quick meeting in his office where he explained what was about to go down. Except he left out the part where my husband and I would be asked to hold down our child as they cleaned her teeth....yes, we had to hold her down. A little scary, right? For the actual cleaning, the hygienist was friendly. But I thought it odd that they insisted on getting a full cleaning done on our very first visit. The dentist can be frightening enough when you're an adult - why make the first visit so intimidating for a child? The hygienist tried to acclimate my daughter to the kid-sized dental chair by showing her the polisher that she'd be using on her teeth. Well that didn't go over well and the crying began. But crying, screaming nor wriggling in fear would deter this hygienist nor dentist - I guess they've seen it all. That's when she informed my husband and I that she'd need help to keep our daughter still during the cleaning. It was our first time too so we followed orders thinking this must be normal. Luckily, the cleaning was over very quickly, but we still felt horrible after. I know dental care is important at a young age, but I left feeling like there's got to be a gentler way to introduce the dentist. Since then, I've talked to friends with young kids and most have had really positive experiences with the dentist. I've learned that having to help hold your child down during their first visit is not the norm, but rather the outlier. I'm not questioning this dentist's skill or experience, but I do think it's important for parents to know what they're potentially getting into and that there are other options out there for a more positive first dental experience. I will certainly be exploring mine in the future!

I'm not sure of the experience of the other reviewer because never, in 10 years, have I ever experienced the same situation. My kids both have never had an issue with coming here. The dentist is very helpful and informative whenever a procedure is needed, or when there are changes in their orthodontic treatment. I have recommended Dr. Gonzalez to several friends who have all had positive experiences. One of the best parts of this office is having your child's dentist and orthodontist as the same person. It makes getting biannual cleanings a breeze since you're not having to shuttle between 2 providers to get the braces wire off before the cleaning. The other positive about this office is Dr. Gonzalez's staff. They are fantastic!! Always helpful and available and beyond pleasant. If you want a great pediatric dentist that your child can go to for years, I definitely recommend Pediatric Dental Center.

This isn't the first time the dentist has heard this since when he did my crown, I asked for the same thing and he obliged. Patel came in the room and confirmed that I wanted a lighter color. Great. He didn't give me a lighter color. He gave me the exact same color as my natural teeth. So when I do get my teeth whitened, those fillings will stay the exact same color and I will look ridiculous. I messaged them asking how I was supposed to whiten them. Didn't hear back quickly so I called. They told me Patel would call me when he was back in the office on Monday. I waited until noon on Monday and called again. They said he would call around 2. He didn't call. Waited all day Tuesday and he still didn't call. Guess he can't be bothered and doesn't want to correct this since he acknowledged in the room I wanted lighter fillings before starting. I will be looking for another dental practice. One that actually cares enough to respond to patients. Will call them in the morning and cancel any remaining appointments. The rest of my dental work will NOT be done at Sage Dental. Looks like I will have to pay someone else to fix the errors. On a side note, the dental hygienist (Abraham) is wonderful and so are the ladies at the front desk but I cannot recommend Dr. Patel at Sage Dental. Between my insurance company and out of pocket, they have been paid thousands since June. No more.

I've only ever had one before, so when I moved, this was a huge pain, but I finally found South Tampa Dentistry! The staff has been polite and efficient each time I called / went in, and I saw Dr. Wyatt my first few visits, who he was great. I went in for a last minute appointment once and he wasn't available, so I saw Dr. Mark, and he's been my new favorite dentist ever since! He's gone out of his way to make sure I got the best care quickly and made my concerns a priority. (Idk where these people that left bad reviews went, but they must have the wrong Dr. Mark! )

I was like "oh wait I am not sure what I did wrong, I just don't understand why I would need them" they said we need you to leave. And he kicked me out, 9 months pregnant and all. I have never ever been treated like that before in my life, just incase some of you might have questions about your teeth - they don't tolerate that at all. So wild, not educating the patience or helping them get the right care. My husband called saying hey why are you treating my wife like this and the doc said I am twisting the words and was argumentative just to argue (that's not my personality). I have never met a doctor who does not appreciate question. In all sincerity I was actually trying to understand, but they clearly didn't like that. Really wished they treated me more kind. And I kind want people to know what to expect coming to this place, so that's why I am Leaving this review. Also, I just read the other reviews and I guess this isn't the first weird thing about x-rays! The senior hygiene lady was so mean to me too! I m not sure why this place can get away with treating people like this.
