On a rainy Saturday afternoon, we had the great pleasure of walking around the West Village with "Vinny" for the Haunted Manhattan tour. Definitely one of the high points of our weekend in NYC as we got a nice dose of old New York history with the added bonus of chilling ghost stories. This tour was fun, informative and scary! We walked around a huge portion of the east village and I learned things about places I had no idea had so much history or were so haunted! I've lived in the city for 4 years now and had no clue that I was often passing by such sights as the restaurant Edgar Allen Poe frequently haunts or a freaky subterranean mass grave for the super wealthy of the 1800s. Our tour guide Franky was very personable, smart and funny. She did a great job of giving us an in depth history but also just telling the stories really well. We did the Five Points tour. Our guide was lots of fun, personable, and relevant! My daughter and I took this tour together and it was interesting to both of us. We both love supernatural stuff, ghost stores, history and true crime. This combined all that. The history was that, "wow, I didn't know that" type of stuff and the ghost stories were great. We talked about which stories we liked best on the way home. I learned so much about the city and really appreciate it more now.. A lot of the information seemed made up and the guide acted as if they had tried memorizing a script. Toward the end we had even considered leaving a few stops early because of how boring it was. It's a walking tour, which I would suggest warmer clothing if you go during fall & winter weather, as it was kinda windy! A+ goes to Professor Mortimer and the Haunted Manhattan Greenwich Village tour! My mother and I are no strangers to New York, but this trip we wanted to try something different. We love ghosts and ghost stories, so we bought tickets for this tour. Professor Mortimer was very clear about the meeting point to start, and his signature bow tie made it extremely easy to find him. The 90 minute walking tour went by in a flash, because everyone was having such a wonderful time. The professor was friendly, funny, and extremely knowledgable about all 13 sites we visited. Not only a ghost tour, but a history tour as well. The professor made the tour interactive and had some truly great stories to share. This company is fairly new, but it prides itself on being the most knowledgable and exciting of all the ghost tours in the city. We will certainly be returning to try the other two tours!! read more

Not only was the tour extremely informative but the good professor is one of the best tour guides I have had the pleasure to go on a walking tour with. In addition my wife & I purchased discount vouchers on Yelp and had trouble figuring out how to redeem them and book a tour. We sent an email to the webmaster and received a very prompt response (I would say we had a confirmation of our booking within about 15 minutes of sending the email). Had a blast on the East Village tour with Frankie last night. Very informative tour filled with haunting, interesting stories about my hometown NYC. We especiallly enjoyed learning about the Merchant House, IL Bucos Edgar Allen Poe connection and especially the marble grave yard .I left with a thirst for more NYC history and haunted tales. Went on the West Village tour last year and went for the Greenwich Village tour this year. Last year's tour guide (no longer works there) was ok, but just straight up info. That's good, but the GV had Professor Mortimer teaching Haunted History, and class was in session. He had the "professor" shtick down to a "T" and made the tour both informative and enjoyable. The other two tours now have "characters" as well. All I can say is you won't be disappointed. This tour gets an A+! read more

My boyfriend and I went on a haunted ghost tour of Greenwich Village with Professor Mortimer and it was fun. It was a rainy day in NYC so that added to the spooky experience. We were a group of 4 since others had cancelled, but I liked the more intimate tour. Professor Mortimer was beyond corny with his jokes and potential scares, but his humor not unwelcome. We loved it! I learned so much history about Greenwich and some of the stories sent chills up my spine and left me feeling scared after the night was over. My curiosity was piqued so much I researched some of the stories. It's interesting how much you don't know about the history of your surroundings in any city. I hear that the Greenwich tour is more family friendly and yet I was scared a little, I can't wait to check out the other tours next time we are in NYC. read more

Did a search on google and found Haunted Manhattan and boy am I glad I did!!! My hubby and I got married on Halloween, so we always try and do something "spooky" for our anniversary. We decided in the East Village tour (because we want to live in that neighborhood eventually). Our guide was Frankie and she was phenomenal!! So energetic and knowledgeable and just plain ole fun!!! We had a great time and learned a lot of history in addition to visiting some "haunts". You don't go into any of the places, so don't expect that....but do expect a great time!!! They also do a tour of the West Village and Greenwich Village which we also plan to do. We've lived here in NYC for a year and a half now and we love learning new and interesting things about the city!
