While Tony has reimbursed his fees, I still feel it would be misleading to not post something and let others know about our experience. We hired Tony for an annual summer party with close friends and relatives. His reviews on Thumbtack were 'GLOWING', and he was a bit pricier than the other bartenders we were quoted, but he had so many great reviews and the experience we required. Tony was paid to not have a tip jar out, yet he asked if he could have one out as well. Now that I look back at it, I think it's ridiculous that he was paid his tip by our hostess, AND had a tip jar for guests. Also, he started off his own tip jar by putting in $5, which I thought was a bit...tacky, nonetheless he did not live up to his Thumbtack reviews, nor was he worth the price he was charging. He was not friendly, and many guests made comments about his attitude. People actually AVOIDED the bar and chose to go to the wine table inside. As soon as the clock struck 11 he was out of there! It was like Cinderella's chariot turned into a pumpkin! He didn't set up the bar for someone else to pick up, he left a stack of his business cards at the bartop (as if anyone would want to use his services after that perfomance) and he didn't offer to help clean. We were really disappointed with his service and when we wrote a review on Thumbtack he called repeatedly to have it removed. He even had the customer service number for removals ready (as if he'd gone through this before) and when we didn't remove the review instantly after he refunded the money, he called over and over and over again during office hours (during a meeting nonetheless) even though I requested numerous times for him to stop calling. Next time you're worried about negative reviews and how they affect your business, think about how you treat your customers and those who are reviewing you. Customer service - 0 stars, Drinks - 0 stars (I have to add that when the last person at the bar requested a margarita, he said he was 'off the clock and done here' and when she protested, he poured half a glass of Rose's lime juice and a shot of tequila and called it margarita. He also corrected customers on whether a martini was shaken or stirred, apparently there is only one way - HIS. I get that he was trying to educate, but his mannerisms were far from pleasant.) He gets the second star ONLY because he refunded the money. If we could do it all over again we would not have hired Tony, nor would we recommend him to friends. It's a shame - since we and our crew of friends and family throw many parties, he really could have been used repeatedly by us. I feel like we didn't receive the Tony that was posted on all the Thumbtack reviews, it felt like an impostor. Now I know why he has those reviews, he requests those with bad reviews a refund with their removal. Not cool... read more
