Several days later he arrived with his crew and got busy with the issues we discussed. Our rear yard is not accessible with equipment so it was a hands on project. So far, so good. The problem began when they decided it was necessary to use a truck and rope to help pull a large tree trunk down so it could be sawn into smaller pieces. To be fair, the work we agreed on was completed as expected and done in an afternoon. Here's where I have a problem. When they used the truck to pull on the trunk, they did so from our NEIGHBORS front yard without my knowledge and without permission from anybody. The result was large, deep ruts and obvious tire tracks on the lawn. I pointed out the damage and he promised to repair the damage to its ORIGINAL condition: level surface, seeded and straw. What we got was a few little bags of topsoil which didn't put a dent in the damage. After several texts to him, he kept promising me he would have it completed "the next day " which obviously never came. SO, now I'M stuck with the repair and cost to make the neighbors whole again. (Through no fault of my own) Cory and his crew are nice guys and I might use them again but just beware to check carefully before he leaves. Guess I better get busy.....

They got the trees down to trunk stumps very quickly without much effect on the business next door. Very respectful and courteous crew, as they always have been when C&S has done work for us (many trees over the years.) Cleaned up all the detritus, swept up the driveway and the business parking lot, left us some burning timber for the fireplace and a huge pile of ground up stump at our request. We have always been satisfied and amazed at the ability of the C&S crews to get thru the day with minimal interference in our lives and no damage to themselves or any adjacent property. Which they did while it was raining which was pretty impressive. Just as impressive as taking my rake, using said rake, not returning the rake, having it on camera, and two weeks out trying to get said rake back or just financial compensation for it with no results to show. Actions tend to speak louder than words or text messages from Matthew in this case. They also left some pretty deep ruts in my yard from the skid steer loader they were using and communication between Grabill and his crew is lacking. They started cutting up the main trunk when it was not needed as I was going to cut and haul the wood away for my Grandparents since they use it for firewood for the winter and made splitting that wood a bigger hassle. I have no issues with contractors using the tools I leave out, but not returning it is very un-professional and two weeks out of not returning it or financially compensating me for it tells me they have no respect for your property or items on your property. So I guess make sure you have everything put up and double, triple-check your property before you pay them. Maybe then you will have a chance of getting it back.
