It was close to midnight when we arrived in LA, and when we called the place to ask how to get there, our sleepy greeter took us around in circles a few times, but we finally found it! We took a larger room [not the cottage, although it looked like a great place to stay for more privacy] which had sole use of one bathroom, and it was more than adequate for our needs. Sylvester served us a gorgeous breakfast every morning, and made sure we were off with bottled water every time we would leave. His demeanor in the morning was truly a great start to every day, and the breakfast was always fresh and HUUUGE portions! The parking is a bit of a pinch when it's full, as you end up somewhat squished between cars or in someone's way, but it was gated, which was lovely. The Secret Garden is situated right off the Sunset Strip, and very little legwork is needed to get to the heart of West Hollywood. For those who are more ambitious, you can walk into the hills, although it's a pretty steep walk. There are two gorgeous cats who walk around and will come and keep you company in your room, if you wish. :)

My sister and I stayed here for a long weekend -- the bed was comfy, the place was quiet (even with the other unit occupied), the neighborhood felt safe, and the free parking was a huge plus. It's a cozy and refreshing place to stay in after months of being cooped up for shelter-in-place. A lot of restaurants were open nearby for takeout and Erehwon was conveniently a few minutes away. Meeting Gary and Jaime was awesome, my sister and I had some pleasant & socially-distanced conversations with them. They were attentive, kind, and lovely hosts :-) COVID-19-related note: the kitchen / entrance area is shared with folks that are staying in the other unit. We felt safe enough to be in that room with masks on and to eat a meal, but know this if this is something you're concerned about. Absolutely stay here if you're considering it!

This review is for CORONADO STUDIO:…read more We had a family wedding to attend in Pasadena in May, and decided to stay in the Silver Lake area where the groom (my husband's brother) lives since that's where pre-wedding events would be taking place. So six family members ended up renting all three Sanborn properties for the weekend, each had very positive things to say. My husband and I stayed at the Coronado for four nights and absolutely loved it! For $85 a night, you can't beat having a full kitchen and FREE wifi! I think we managed to only buy two meals while were were on our trip. We spent about $100 on groceries at the Smart & Final near the apartment, and cooked most of our meals there, which saved us a ton of money! The host we talked to a couple of times, Jonathon, was very friendly and helped us with our luggage right off the bat. One huge plus was not having to clean the apartment before we checked out. I have rented a handful of houses before which we always had to "clean" ourselves if we didn't want to pay extra. The Coronado did not make us clean (even though we did as much as we could to not look like slobs upon leaving for common courtesy). I saw other people complain about thin walls, and hearing the other tenants in the building. That was never an issue while we were there. One of our favorite features was the rear entry to the private parking area. We didn't use the front door once while we were there. The only thing I would want to mention is that the driveway to the private parking is SO narrow, it would be unlikely that anything other than a small SUV or car could make it up the driveway. There's no way a Tahoe or anything large like that would be able to utilize the private parking. It worked fine for us in our Jeep Patriot, but we had to be very careful. The apartment isn't in the best neighborhood, but it seemed safe enough while we were there, and it's just minutes from Silver Lake and some great shopping on Sunset Blvd. There was a great view of the city at night from our balcony, and I really enjoyed looking out at night when the city was all lit up. All and all, we very much enjoyed our stay at the CORONADO and would highly recommend it, and stay there again. We also visited Tyler's Place where my in-laws were staying, and it was really nice. I probably wouldn't stay there however, as they had to share a kitchen with other guests they didn't know. That would work great if both sides of the house were being rented by people in your party though.

There are only about eleven rooms on the property, which is totally gated and sequestered behind high hedges. I selected the Charlie Chaplin Bungalow, which is located at the very back of the Property. It is a shingled, two-story house, with a private front gate marked with a brass plate stating "Charlie" that leads to a spacious private patio. There is an entry, dining area, living room with a fireplace upon which Charlie's canes are displayed in a cross. Upstairs, there is a landing area, with a washer and dryer, the bedroom and a bathroom with two showers. Before my arrival, I had colorful flower bouquets delivered from the nearby Empty Vase Florist. Th gardens at the Charlie are magical. Helen in the office is welcoming. I have now found my LA hotel, and it is without question, The Charlie.

It's a gem nestled in a perfect location for those of us who value privacy and elegance within an urban location. The staff is phenomenal extremely accommodating and very helpful, the villas are immaculately kept and they are full service every unit has a wonderful kitchen refrigerator and they are laid out uniquely and appointed luxuriously. It's a 20 minute walk to the gym and it's central too many touristy and other visitor activities. There's no other place that I will stay when I visit LA now that I've "cemented my feet" at the Charlie when I'm in town!!

We were able to get admission to the Magic Castle through the Magic Castle Hotel by booking a room at their location which is adjacent to the Castle. We made a day of it by checking in with Nicole who took great care of us, the hotel offers complimentary car service to Yashimiro which is located on the hill above both the Castle and Hotel. We went up there (as I posted earlier) for drinks and nibbles before the show which was later. When we came back we were able to clean up and dress into the accepted attire for the Magic Castle. Nicole and her co workers offered us complimentary champagne upon arrival, a cornucopia of delicious snacks, assorted cappuccino/lates, soda and soft serve ice cream all with 24 hour access. We got a great 2 bedroom room which worked perfect for what we needed, our besties daughter and husband met us at the hotel later and they spent the night when we drove home. Room was great, pool area was very inviting with the intense heat we were having. Staff were amazingly helpful and the room rate was very reasonable for a Hollywood location. What a great way to get access to the Magic Castle if you are not a member. We had a great time at the Castle but photos are not allowed in the Castle during the shows and didn't want to take a chance to photo our fabulous dinners. The food was much better than the last time we were there 2 years ago, shows are always superb and fun. So if you want to visit the Magic Castle for dinner and a magic show book it through the Magic Castle Hotel And make it an overnight experience, the shows run late and it beats driving home after. Nicole and the staff will take great care of you and you can also visit Yashimiro and other local spots in Hollywood. Bravissimo Magic Castle and Hotel. We will be back!

The suite was adorable, clean, and it had the perfect amount of vintage charm. It is located near local eateries, and even though Bar Covell is located on the first floor, our room was private and quiet enough to sleep very glamorously. There is a living room right when you walk in, a breakfast nook/ eating area off to the left, and a king bed with a comfortable mattress in the bedroom. The decor felt peaceful and soothing, quiet and private after being around the hustle and bustle in So Cal. The front desk staff was also very polite and accommodating. If I ever make my way back to Venice (and I sincerely hope I do) you can count on me booking here again.
