She tailored the facial to my needs, doing a bunch of extractions and skipping the peel since I've gotten a lot of sun lately. My skin feels refreshed and super moisturized, and I know what I need to do to take better care of it in the weeks til I see her again. Instead of leaving the room while my mask sat on my face, she gave me a really wonderful arm and hand massage, and then a foot massage too!! I really appreciated that. I was looking to get a soak off and my regular nail salon was closed today. I tried stopping at other places near which turned out to be closed as well so I decided I would drive down Route 50 because I knew there was a nail salon that I would pass. I was so grateful they happened to be open as I also expressed that to the lady I was greeted by when I came in! I asked her if she could take my nails off for me and she did. I soon noticed that began by POPPING my ANC nails off with an extra nail tip. I was mortified. She asked me if it hurt, obviously knowing that what she was doing was not protocol if she had to ask me if it hurt. I had two nails that I cut short myself and one of them popped off pretty easily so I thought that maybe she was only doing that because my nails were already a little bit lifted but I have NEVER ever come into a nail salon where they slid a nail tip under my nails to try and pop them off. I did explain to her that I do not do that with my own nails as it's so damaging (hence why I came in to get a soak off rather than doing it myself) but she continued to pry at my nails. I took a picture and put it below of my nails after she ripped the ANC from them. My ring fingernail is pretty long and I try hard to maintain them as best as possible but layers of my nail were ripped off in the process. She kept prying the ANC from my thumb nail and then she ended up soaking the other two nails in acetone which is what she should've just done in the first place. At this point I am in pain and I asked her if she would just soak off my left hand which she did. Another customer came in who had an appointment so the worker went over to her with her portable nail drill and began her nails over in the waiting area. I noticed that the customer immediately had her nails in foils getting them soaked off with gloves on which help retain heat to speed the process. I was in there for probably 45 minutes and I am very patient but I know this service doesn't take as long as it did because she was checking on my nails every couple minutes to see if they were done soaking which they were not because they couldn't have any time to sit and process. The two photos below are my nails the way I left the nail salon and it speaks for itself. I would never let somebody leave my salon with those nails. At the end of the service I asked her why I didn't get the same treatment as her other client which she could not provide me an answer with and I proceeded to explain that the way she popped my nails off was very damaging and that I hoped she did not do that to anybody else. I told her thank you very much and wished her a good day which then she demanded $10. I told her that I was extremely dissatisfied with the damage done to my nails and that it was not worth $10 and she told me not to come back. If you want a soak off this is NOT the place.

I see both Katie and Diana and once ya get me started I may not shut up!…read moreI'm old so I don't look good in photos but I've watched Diana grow from a small salon to a diverse empire and it's been amazing to be along for the ride. She's done eyelash extensions for me, waxing, micro blading (I'm due fyi) and katie has done facials and waxing on me for years. I have no idea what mojo Katie does but my very horrible thyroid riddled sparse eyebrows look sleek and shapely after a waxing. Her facial is extensive and calming to my dull and hormonal skin. I always feel so relaxed with each of them and when I arrive I feel like a queen! I don't get much pampering and I certainly am not rich but their prices are fair and their service list and skills are impeccable. I would trust either of them with any of their services. Let's put it this way, if I come into money, I'd happily get every damn thing on their menu.... monthly! I could never stray. And if you ever did, you'd be back!

Would the artist disregard my preferences to suit their own? Diana did an excellent job for my recent wedding- she is professional and makes you look like your best self. Her style leans towards a more natural look which was exactly what I wanted! I felt totally comfortable during the makeup trial and even tried fake lashes! And liked them! She kept day of prep on time and all of my bridesmaids looked fabulous. I would happily work with Diana again.

I visited Bloom for the first time to have my hair and makeup done prior to a friend's wedding. I…read morehad just had my hair and make up done a few weeks prior at a different salon -- with great results -- but that other salon was very pricy. Bloom was a little cheaper and the reviews, although few in number, were glowing, so I decided to give this new-to-me place a try My makeup artist (Sarah) was young (like college-age), but was very friendly. When she asked if I had a certain style I wanted, I told her that she should do what she felt would look best. I had to have my makeup appointment before my hair appointment due to their schedule limitations, but she washed my hair first (after I mentioned my concern) so that the makeup wouldn't be messed up. The makeup appointment took surprisingly long. I would say a full 40-45 minutes, but I was not in much of a rush so I didn't mind. I brought my own makeup with me because I have certain products that I know work well for my problem areas. I told the makeup artist about my product, but made clear that she could use her products if she thought they'd do the trick. She told me she had the right kind of product to cover my under eye circles, so I told her to use what she had. I did note that she did not curl my eye lashes, which disappointed me somewhat since I told her I did not want the false eyelash application (extra $10). After a long while, I get to check myself out in the mirror (the mirror behind the makeup counter, no individual hand-held mirror). I could still see my under eye circles a little (it got me wishing that I insisted she use my coverup) but over all, the makeup looked pretty nice and fairly natural. I was surprised how light the foundation looked because it felt like she was putting on a bajillion layers. I appreciated not looking clown-like, but I did want to look more even-toned than it appeared. When I returned home and could look up close at a mirror, I felt a pang of disappointment. The makeup she used under my eyes had settled, resulting in noticeable creases under my eyes. It did not look like any concealer was applied to the bottom third of my face (tip of nose, mouth area, chin, jaw) and imperfections were visible. Finally, several of my eyelashes were stuck together, which I attribute to not being separated when the lashes were wet from the mascara. After I spent some time cleaning up under my eyes, evening out the foundation, and curling and separating my eyelashes, I felt the makeup looked nice and I then felt satisfied. Yet, I had just spent $50 (plus 20% tip) and wish I didn't have to perform the fixes. Overall, I didn't feel like I had felt a few weeks before when I had my makeup done at a different salon, or like or was something drastically different from what I could have done on my own. Interestingly, none of my friends at the wedding noticed I had my makeup done. They all assumed I had done it myself. As for my hair, I have no complaints. The blow out was $25, and I felt the stylist did what I asked, was polite, asked me whether or not I wanted certain products in my hair, and my hair looked nice all day. In summation: Bloom is a small, but clean and stylish salon. It provides a little less in the "frills" department than other places (no drink was offered when I arrived, for instance), but you do save a few bucks. One minor thing: it was super cold at the back of the salon where they do the makeup (though it was a snowy and blustery winter morning) and the chair on which the makeup is done (a director's chair) was a touch uncomfortable (I felt I had to perch on the edge so she could so the makeup). The professionals I worked with were polite and very friendly. Nobody pushed products on me, which I appreciated. I don't think I'll return for a makeup application, but I'd consider it again for a blow out.
