I popped into this location to drop off a package. The overall experience was standard...that is, until I forgot to grab my receipt from the kiosk and proceeded to get into my vehicle. A female employee was seen running out of the store toward my car, letting me know I had forgotten my receipt. That elevated the entire experience. Alex Cooper auction buyers don't use this UPS Store for your items, and this is from a person who has worked with numerous UPS stores across this country to ship auction items. Store owner and manager refuse to take accountability even when they acknowledge staff mistakes. Unfortunately the highly valuable one of a kind Chihuly glass piece shipped by UPS Store 0542 arrived broken, which is why you put appropriate insurance on UPS packages. This is where the UPS store failed me by incorrectly assigning half the insurance value requested, which has cost me almost $3,000 in claim value. I reasonably requested a 100% refund of the $595.20 packing and shipping costs to provide a small portion of the money I was unable to recover. Since that request the UPS Store owner and manager has tied themselves in knots explaining (when I can actually get them to engage in a conversation) why they don't owe me any refund on what I paid them, while acknowledging their staff made a mistake on the insurance claim value! I would not recommend this UPS store and if you need to ship something, definitely get an estimate (must have whatever already boxed) and try a different location to get another estimate. I had no idea rates for the same item could vary so much. Very recent experience with this location and another in the same area - this location quoted $106 to ship the box, the other location quoted $56 to ship the same box. Same contents, same destination, same day for the estimate. In these times of tight money, that's a HUGE difference. Both of these places are UPS Stores. After doing some research, I discovered that UPS Stores are supposed to charge the same shipping rate for an item but are free to tack on any number and kind of incidental charge they want. That said, I would have appreciated disclosure of all additional charges. Insurance was a separate matter and this location charged more than the other location per $100 for insurance. I've been using this UPS drip-off point for years. They are great people. you just need to understand that at certain times of the day, week, year...they get swamped with customers. Plan to visit mid-morning or late in the day. The parking lot is small so if you go there at lunchtime, expect to have parking problems, they are surrounded by restaurants. Be patient, and considerate. Getting angry with them won't make things better! read more

I understand needing to purchase a box to ship something, however, making someone buy an entire roll of packing tape in order to ship that box I thought was a bit excessive. Basically needing just two strips of tape to seal a box, with a roll of packing tape sitting right on the counter, Raj explained that I needed to purchase an entire roll of packing tape in order to complete my transaction. He simply asked if I needed "packing" and I said no. The condition of the contents were of no concern of mine. I agreed I needed to buy a box. In fact, that was one of the primary reasons for coming in in the first place. I never said I was only spending $2.00 for the box (another fabrication). I NEVER purchased a box from you. Another lie. and Raj was adamant about the fact that could NOT use the opened tape, already mounted on the tape dispenser 6" to his left on the counter to seal the box. Now, all BS aside, I worked for UPS for 3 years in preload at Burtonsville. I've handled literally hundreds of thousands of packages. I know the tensile strength of packing tape. NO "special tape" is necessary to seal a box weighing less than 10 lbs. Your man Raj was was simply being unhelpful and trying to scam me for something that the OTHER UPS Store (Hunt Valley! Very helpful! Great location) only 7 min. North! ) was happy to do. Btw. Their box was only $4.71. So thank you for the lies, and the chuckle, but I stand with my first recommendation. Worst experience at a UPS store ever.... Transaction took over 20 minutes when it should have taken 5. The owner had to restart the process several times and complained to me about the "new" system and how it was so much worse than the old one throughout my visit. The whole situation was very unprofessional. They insisted I purchase a box and pay them a packing fee despite the fact I had brought my shipment to the store in a box. Later, there were problems with my shipment and they refused to provide a full refund. When I asked to complain to the district manager, they refused to provide their name and contact info. So, you should nominally expect bad customer service and to pay for additional products and services you likely do not need. Worse yet, you will be on your own with no help or escalation path if there are problems. read more

I've been a customer here for several years, recently they hired some new staff and my packages were being rejected. I called to speak to the owner Divyesh Patel. After failing to follow up with me as promised, I got in touch with him again and he told me I was not 'in his system' but has gladly accepted my payments and packages for several years. Then he hung up on me and said he can't talk to me. I cannot believe an owner would behave that way, but I can see where some of the staff gets their attitude from. I spoke with Wayne and Bob at this UPS store multiple times throughout the day for a big project I needed for work. They both understood the deadline and went out of their way to make me feel comfortable assuring me it would be completed in time. After confirming our commitment with them (and offering to pay in advance) I was told as long as I sent the file by 9am the following morning, we would have more than enough time to finsih it up before sending it out. Needless to say, they called after confirming they could "definitely do the work" after I was already gone for the day and simply left me a message saying "sorry, we actually aren't going to be able to help you." Drove to this store at 1pm on a Tuesday with approximately 2-3 inches of snow on the ground to drop off a package with a UPS label already on it. I was greeted with a sign on the door saying that they would be close beginning at 11 AM due to weather. Unfortunately I had to drive to the other location further south on York Road in order to drop off my package. I find it unacceptable that a company would close for such little snow when the roads are absolutely fine. Will not be returning to this location. read more

Do not go here if you are shipping anything valuable. My package made it to its destination but without its contents. Store would not help with claim, blamed me for putting the wrong thing in an envelope instead of a box, even though they helped me do it. UPS blamed the store and vice versa. I needed an antique crystal chandelier shipped from Baltimore to Colorado! I was worried about shipping something so fragile. However, the UPS store came through with flying colors. They packaged the chandelier so carefully - with layers upon layers of cushion and then double boxed with yet another layer of cushion. Although I insured the package, the contents could really not be replaced. I am happy to say the chandelier arrived to its destination in perfect condition! The outer box was damaged by the UPS handlers once it left the store, however, the inner box arrived intact with the chandelier carefully protected. Thank you for all of the effort to transport this unusual package. PS - I sent the package by ground to help keep costs down and it arrived in 3 days! Overall, the pricing for packaging was less than the shipping costs but still reasonable considering the size of the outer box! Thank you, Mr. Patel. I will be a return customer for sure! read more

Let's just say the guy working today 3/21/16 was the most rude person I've meet there. They are usually so nice at this location which is why I go. But not the guy today. I walked in to send a package and I said "hello, I need to send a package" he says "put it down." I said "okay, but I don't have tape to send it" he got an attitude and snapped "then you need to buy tape" I said "how much is the tape" got no answer from him I asked again and he huffed "just wait I don't know"....I've worked in customer service for over 11 years and that's one of the worst customer service I've received. I've had to get a few letters notarized recently and both times when I went in there the man at the counter is just excellent. I don't know if he's the franchise owner or an employee, but if I owned a business I would find out how to lure him away to work for me. The original shipping company at this location was Mail Boxes, Etc. Two partners built up the business reputation with knowledgeable, reliable and friendly service. They sold out to UPS Store a several years ago. The new owners were not knowledgeable in international shipping. I am not sure if it has changed hands again. The knowledge of the personnel has continued to ddecline. The last straw for me was when I requested a receipt, and was refused. Whenever giving the UPS store a pre-labeled box for shipping, they are supposed to give you a receipt if you request one. And then, because i insisted that I be given a receipt, the clerk started yelling at me and told me that he refused to wait on me. All because I requested a receipt for the shipping! I do not trust them now and will not be back. I recommend that in this area, your best bbet for UPS shipping is to go to the warehouse in Sparks and ship direct with UPS and not use The UPS Store which is not affiliated with UPS. read more
