I was saddened and disappointed to learn The Urban Paw has re-employed the groomer, Mercedes (the owner's sister). I'm a former employee and witnessed this groomer intentionally hurt dogs and stomp at them. read more

HORRIBLE. Dropped our dog off for daycare in the morning. Only two other dogs there at the time. Later they called us saying we "need to pick up our dog as he has uncontrollable diarrhea". Go there right away only to see our dog through the window with again only two other dogs eating poop. ZERO staff attending, ZERO staff visible. Go in there and they give us the song and dance about how busy they are, that they "tried to stop him from eating poop by telling him not to".... REALLY?!?!? Geesh, try picking up the other dog's poop! They had the nerve to blame us for the incident! The highlight from this review is that (1) there is no care in their daycare. (2) you are paying to have your dog left unattended for the most part. This follows just recently taking our dog there for grooming at which they did not do anything we asked for in regards to length of cut or style. Asked for no change in length at all on our young shih tzu that was groomed yesterday. She had been shaved completely in January due to severe neglect, and we have made every effort to grow out her beautiful golden coat as it should be. We asked for no change in length, a teddy bear cut, not shaved whatsoever. I got her back 3 inches shorter on her entire body except her legs. I called her the next day as they closed and I didn't see my dog until after. She was very defensive. Saying her notes read "leave legs long, teddy bear, round face." She argued teddy bear trims are always short, which is false. Warning, if you do chose to come here, I hope you bring an extremely detailed list of instructions taped to your dog or else you won't get what you pay for. read more

I had called them the day before because I was hoping to find a place to get my puppy into. It should be said he's a sweet 5.5 month goldendoodle. He was only a month past his final vaccination. I explained to this place that it was his first time at a groomer. That he is we a puppy. I only wanted them to trim his face some, so my puppy could better see. They recommended "face, feet, and Fanny" and assured that it would not be over $55 (which even that I thought seemed a little high). When I picked him up, mot only had they not done everything they said they were going to do, they also chastised me for not having had my dog groomed before then. Due to COVID, I had never been inside but in late July they allowed me in. The owner was trying to trim my sweet goldendoodle but was yelling at her and yanking her leg. Then they asked me to go wait in the car. They must book too many dogs in a day. My pup was there for 8 hours and they still had not bathed her! They were angry with me because I called twice to see when she would be done. They threatened to start charging owners if they call to check on their dogs because they don't have time to answer the phones. I won't go back. read more

Love this place! I needed my pit bull to have her nails cut within a short period of time and they got her right in! I just pulled up, they came out and got her, trimmed her nails and brought her back within 10 minutes. Great experience! read more

Very pleased with result of our initial visit. I have a poodle mix rescue. Having him less than a year and new to the area, I took him to a local franchise groomer 3x with unsatisfactory results. The matting of his coat, muzzle and head was never resolved. Upon picking up my dog, he was unrecognizable. Urban Paw shaved him due to the matting ( I told them to do what was needed). Prior to our visit, he always had a goofy appearance with wild hair on his head and long beard. Urban Paws did an outstanding job of his head. He has a well groomed appearance, and his sweet face comes through. I highly recommend this groomer. read more

They went out of their way to understand exactly what I wanted, and they also were very knowledgeable about my dog's somewhat uncommon breed. I should've listened to the other poor reviews on this place, but I've taken my dog to get groomed here multiple times over the last year and have had unfortunately had many unpleasant experiences both with the staff and with the product of their grooming services. There are multiple other places you can take your dog that are more affordable and that will offer better, more professional services and interactions. Charging a fee if you call and ask about status of your dog or if you are late to pick up (even if you come during their regular business hours) and only taking appointments if you commit to a certain grooming schedule is absolute nonsense. I've been taking my two pups to Urban Paw for about 8 months or so and I love the place! I love how they listen to me, how I want them to groom my girls. Sometimes in the past I've picked my pups really late, past 6pm which I didn't like but hopefully that is over and will never happen again. Paige is always very nice and professional. Totally. Worth it. My dog, Mike, is a mystery mix of all the cutest breeds so it doesn't take a lot to make him look amazing. But what I like about Urban Paw, is that Mike doesn't return to me traumatized. He doesn't hate going there, and he doesn't seem unhappy to be there. Even now that he knows what it means to be there (that he'll be tortured to human standards of grooming!). Th staff at the urban paw definitely makes an effort to keep your pet calm and comfortable. I took my dog in for the first time and was quoted $42 for a shampoo and trim. He's a small dog and I thought that price was high but I'm new in town so I thought I'd give Urban a try. They give me a call later that afternoon and I was greeted by a dog I couldn't even recognize. They completely shaved my little guy down to nothing and had the audacity to charge me $105 for the pleasure! Besides being totally ripped off and lied to in the over-the-phone quoting stage, my dog is unrecognizable and completely depressed. Needless to say I will never be back. read more

You pay a premium price at The Urban Paw for a "spa experience" for your dog. Even when you book out your appointments for a year out, you do not get the groomer that you prefer. You can end up with a brand new groomer on their first day on the job. Our cairn terrior did not get a haircut at all as they confused Gabby with another cairn terrior and they reversed the grooming requests.The office manager swore she saw Gabby get a haircut, but I assure you she did not. In addition, they put the other cairn terrior in my car. When I talked to the office manager, Paige, on the phone about this incident she put all the blame on me and the new groomer. I also inquired as to why I do not get to keep the groomer that the owner recommended for my poodle and she stated that things happen. I told her that didn't make sense as I have booked appts out for a year. She was not kind, she was not apologetic, she didn't offer any refund for the issues that happened. You will not receive any customer service here if you have an issue. I had been taking my Scotties to Urban Paw for some time and always thought the service was good until today. I have one Scottie that is an escape artist and when I expressed a concern that she always leaves the front door open and it made me nervous to leave him there. The shop is located on a busy street and next to I-29. She said that if I had concerns about leaving him there to go somewhere else. In other words, leaving the door open was more important than my concern for the safety of my dog. I was also 4 or 5 minutes in picking up and she charged me $20 extra for being late! She said I had been late before and that she had it in her records. I do not think this is true. When I asked to see her records on me, she could not produce any late times. She said she would have to check her video, but didn't feel like looking. I also learned that it was not her that was grooming my dogs, but one of her staff. I felt that I had been paying more than usual for her expertise only to learn that that was not so. I am sorry this happened today, but I will not be taking my dogs back. read more

Thrilled to have found The Urban Paw for grooming services for my two Persian kitties. Paige did an excellent job grooming my sweet and somewhat shy female kitty, but equally important to me was the vibe of the entire staff: kind, animal lovers, attentive and helpful. Both Paige and a staff member gave me important tips on keeping up with my kitties grooming on my own. When I first started taking my dog to be groomed at the Urban Paw, Paige informed me that my dog was malnourished and needed to be on a different food. I agreed and switched food to a different brand she carried in her business. Several grooming sessions later, she informed me she no longer carried that food because her distributor wasn't getting the results they wanted. This annoyed me because my dog has only ever been on one type of food, and switching foods can make an animal sick. I had to switch foods, reluctantly. That same visit I had an appointment to get my dog groomed, and my husband picked her up. When he got home he told me the charge was $55, when the usual charge is $42.50. I decided to call and talk to Paige and ask her why there was a price difference. And boy she let me have it. She explained to me my dog had mats, defecated two times, and had bit two employees. My dog may have had mats, but my husband combed her out the night before we took her to be groomed. Paige also told me my dog's teeth were about to fall out. I don't brush my dog's teeth, and don't know of hardly any owners that do. I do give her treats that help with her teeth. She was very rude to me, and I could not believe the person talking to me was the owner. I was taken back. I even apologized to her because I would never want my dog to bite anyone. I am sure she was scared and that is why she lashed out. I only have my dog groomed about every 3 months, so that is something I need to be more diligent about so my dog isn't so scared. After sleeping on it, I decided to call her back the next day. My gut was to leave a negative review, which I don't recall ever doing, but decided to see if we could sort things out first by talking on the phone. Huge mistake. I called and stated she needed to try and approach people in a softer way and she attacked me. Paige said she was nicer than she should of been to me and explained to me that if I don't bring my dog in every 6 weeks to be groomed, she didn't want to see her again. She said I didn't love my dog, and should give her to someone that could care for her. WHAT? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Apparently, because I stated I couldn't afford expensive dog food or to have her groomed every 6 weeks, she came to that conclusion. How dare her. I have had my dog since she was a puppy, and will care for her the rest of the days of her life. Paige explained to me she runs a very calm grooming studio... Umm, you are an animal groomer and need a reality check. You don't own a Yoga studio. She also told me she works for the animals, not the owners. Last I checked, I pay the bill not my dog. When I talked to Paige on the phone and said I was thinking of leaving a negative review, she encouraged me to do so because it brought her business?? Never heard of that one before either. Paige is very condescending and I am not sure who she thinks she is. She likes the animals to be groomed and bathed when coming in to be groomed, and SHE tells you how SHE will cut your animal's hair.
