The ambiance was nice. The fresh flowers on the tables was a nice touch. The service was friendly and the food came out at a reasonable time. I ordered scrambled eggs, sausage, and biscuits. The scrambled eggs were not scrambled. They were flattened, like it was made for a breakfast sandwich, then chopped up. The texture was not good. I wish I read the other reviews about the eggs. I expected real butter and not a butter spread for my biscuits. The sausage and biscuits were just ok. I recommend the restaurant changes how they cook scrambled eggs and get real butter for the biscuits and toast. read more

Maybe we ordered the wrong things but we were pretty disappointed with this lunch stop. The interior is cute enough with the vault on display in the center of the room. Service was initially slow, our server was gabbing with another table for a while. But once she realized we were her table, things picked up. Ordered the chicken salad sandwich. It's that industrial chicken salad with only celery and the meat is pulverized into a paste. Very bland. The potato salad is reportedly homemade, but also very smooth and strong mustard flavor. Not great. The turkey bacon melt was a bit better. The grilled sourdough bread on both sandwiches was really good. And the pasta salad had a nice vinegar tang. It was actually really good. We found free parking about a block off the circle. Fairly quick in and out as we were driving through, so that was a plus. read more

This was our first visit since the new owners took over. I will say the service was better than we experienced before. There were plenty of servers, all tables were full, and we were seated immediately. We had a bit of a wait for the food to come out, but that was to be expected with the full restaurant. The food came out hot, and everything was good. The pancakes are still massive, and thick, with good flavor. The only thing I would change is the bacon. It's so thin and crunchy. A thick cut bacon would be better. We will be back to visit soon! read more

I was surprised by how many employees Greer were, more employees in front than tables I would guess. Even with all the employees, service was just ok, our waitress did take our order promptly and the food came out fast, but then our waitress must have gone on break, because she disappeared for a very long time. It would have been nice if any of the other employees would have stopped by. I got the biscuits and gravy side order. It came with two biscuits and a small bowl of gravy. I haven't been to Marion in years, though I grew up in a town nearby. We were heading up to STL from Kentucky and driving straight through, decided to stop for lunch. So happy we did! The Vault Cafe is right on the main town square, but parking was easy to find, even with ongoing construction (forming a roundabout). Loved the high ceilings and how they kept parts of the bank. The service is fantastic - prompt and helpful. We ordered our daughter's lunch prior to ours and it arrived super fast! Also important, they provided a whole cup full of crayons instead of the regular 3-4 pack of crayons. It might have been a small thing for most, but it was a great surprise for my daughter. Stopped on our road trip to try this place for brunch based on Yelp reviews. It he area is a charming refurbished Main Street with accessible parking. Seems the building may still be needing construction with exposed, partially painted drywall and rough in electrical boxes. Service was friendly and efficient. The food was fine, but really not great. The French toast was soggy and chewy, not a great texture. No butter with the griddle items, whipped oil spread. Also the syrup is maple flavored breakfast syrup, not maple syrup. Eggs and bacon were good. The "bank roll" breakfast wrap was a little oily. The Vault Cafe, located in Marion's town square, feels like a decades old eatery: The kind of place that diners have enjoyed for generations. However, it's not 10 years old though the former bank and hotel building is more than 100. That old architecture is part of the cafe's charm. So is the service: friendly...and quick. I blinked and my 1/2 and 1/2 salad and soup combo were set before me. The 1/2 Chef salad was ample. Two or three could have split it as side salads. And the ingredients leaned heavily to toppings--egg, ham, bacon, chicken, cheese, tomatoes--than Romaine lettuce. The Thousand Island dressing was a creamy complement. Tasty chili had plenty of hamburger and chunky tomatoes with just a few red beans thrown in. Clearly, the Vault Cafe wasn't skimping on ingredients and hoping no one noticed. That made the entire meal at about $10 a real value. If no one else has it, a four person table inside the old bank vault is available for dining. read more

"The Money" was average at best. The crispy hash browns were the best part. Standard tasting biscuits and gravy. The portion was massive!
