We had about a 15 min wait which is not bad for a table 9. Our service was excellent, we had two service people taking care of us. We have not been to this location in about 3-4 years. All is the same inside, but floors were slick when walking in and out of dining room. Our food was on point and servings were the same as over the years just disappointed that the menu has changed so much. I forgot to take photos but nothing unusual to see. My husband got the catfish dinner with mashed potatoes and fried okra. I ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. The food was disgusting. The catfish was gray and tasted like the bottom of a fish tank. Disgusting. The fried okra tasted like it was fried in the same grease as the fish and it was old. My chicken fried steak was basically a dry tasteless deep fried meatloaf. The mashed potatoes were cold, chunky, and the green beans were greasy. Nothing was edible. The service was nice and helpful. The restaurant was clean. The only thing wrong was the food. Very disappointed. read more

We have used CB's across the country as our kids have done travel archery and competed across the country. CB was always a trusted "go to" family restaurant everywhere we went. Covid either caused or gave them the excuse to mess up the menu and take family Southern favorites off and they seem unable or willing to recover. The food quality has fallen off drastically also. We have eaten at this location for over 20 years on our way back and forth to Nashville. It was cleaner than it has been in the past and service was good but the food has made me sick. This is twice now with two different chicken meal that I have left feeling sick so I will now only use CB for a breakfast spot till they mess that up too. read more

Food and service were okay, but the general cleanliness of CB was way below what it use to be. Floors were sticky, window were dirty, and tables were not be bussed. Hard to enjoy your meal with flies all over. I informed the cashier and she casually told the host that I had complained about the flies. UPDATE: Yesterday morning, I decided to go get breakfast (again) at CBOCS. First time, it was a huge let down. (See my original review.) I must say that they are redeemed in my eyes (and belly). I got a more experienced female server who was (almost) very attentive to my needs. The standard coffee and cream served. I ordered the Big Momma French Toast breakfast with bacon and (3) eggs scrambled (cheese & onions). Extra butter and syrup came with it, too. For some strange reason, I requested my syrup to be warmed up, and my server gave me a lame excuse that the syrup comes in small plastic containers, and she would be unable to do so. Do I need to type out what she could have done to appease me? Never mind! Her tip reflected that slight. Overall, besides the room temperature syrup, the food and service was way better than my first visit. My confidence in Cracker Barrel has been renewed. As The Terminator once said (in an Arnold accent): "I'll be back". read more

Delicious lunch here today, the chicken and dumplings are great, tender and quality chicken used, green beans seasoned just right, and the cheese burger was surprisingly amazing, colby cheese with veggies, the patty was well cooked, thick, juicy and seasoned, one of the best burgers you can get out. Service was attentive, and kind; seating was a little odd, empty room but the seating hostess was stacking tables right next to each other. Will definitely be back for another Barrel Burger! Very busy Sunday. We were seated quickly and had a very efficient, friendly, and attentive waitress. I ordered fried catfish filet, mashed potatoes and green beans. Delicious! Hubby ordered fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans and biscuits. His sides were delicious. The fried chicken was ok but overcooked. The crusty skin wasn't edible. That was evident by the nearly coffee colored crust and very dry breast. We saw two other customers get similarly overdone chicken. Probably just an off day. Cracker Barrel is the only restaurant in our small town that serves country cooking. We like their new menu for the most part. Next time, we will avoid the fried chicken. read more

I would like to give a huge virtual hug to Manager Elizabeth, Server Hailey, and everyone at Cracker Barrel in Marion, IL that made 9/24/2022 successful. This was my first time visiting this particular restaurant. I invited a very dear friend/church member (I call her Auntie Yo) to dinner and she asked to eat at Cracker Barrel. Auntie Yo is a warm and generous woman who volunteers with Alzheimer's Association in honor of her late mother (Mary F. Johnson) and does a number of other things in the community. When I learned that today she would be speaking at an event for Alzheimer's and it would have also been her mother's 103rd birthday, I wanted to make sure Auntie Yo was not alone and would feel loved and appreciated. I called Cracker Barrel and spoke to Manager Elizabeth who was immediately willing to help me make sure Auntie Yo felt special and could also celebrate the birthday of her mother today, affectionately known annually as "MFJ Day" by Auntie Yo's family. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the hostess and seated immediately. Our server, Hailey, was super friendly and made sure that our order was perfect. Both of our meals were delicious and we had plenty to bring home. Auntie Yo and I enjoyed our dinner and the delicious chocolate cake we were treated to in honor of MFJ Day. On the drive home and in a text message a little later, Auntie Yo repeated how much she really enjoyed the evening. I can really appreciate a restaurant team that will help celebrate the life of a loved one. No matter how old you are, you are always somebody's child. Happy 103rd MFJ Day! My family and I were coming back from a family vacation and stopped by this location around 730. We were seated quickly. We order drinks and the waitress brought my wife's drink order which wasn't what she wanted. Then I used the restrooms only to discover after using that the bottom of my pants were soaked with wet fluid (water or something else). The one my children feel on the floor and obtained a big grease stain on their clothing follows by the stick floors to the restroom. The waitress and hostess were nice. read more

We are visiting family, we are from Arizona. From jump i should have just called somewhere else but i decided to give them a shot. The receptionist was rude, we wanted to pick up dinner and she was frustrated that we even wanted to put in an order. They are working with a condensed menu which i totally understand but she wasn't helpful in offering other alternatives. We did not know what was on the condensed menu so we wasted time trying to find something to eat. When we finally picked up our food and got home i was very upset to find the food was not up to the normal standard. Along with the portion size was a joke for one side. After over 8 hours of driving today my wife ordered dinner delivered from the Cracker Barrel across the street. Gave them the address for the hotel just 200 yards away She was told it would be 1/2 hour. After 45 minutes she called to check on her order and this time she was told they do not take delivery orders on the phone. It's been ready, but We would have to come pick it up! After dropping our daughter off at SIU we were looking for a nice meal. First of all the floor under our table looked like a drink had been spilled and we had to ask 3 people before we got it partially mopped up. Took 20-30 minutes to get our drinks. My daughters water had what looked to be an ant in her ice cube. 40 minutes after we ordered we are still waiting on our food. This gave me plenty of time to write this review. I waited for curbside pick up ... and waited. I even called the restaurant to check its status when the food was more than 15 minutes overdue. I don't think they had even started making the food yet because it was ANOTHER 30 minutes before they brought it out!! Not even an apology, let alone a discount, for a one hour+ wait. Oh Cracker Barrel. Why does your food have to suck? My husband pointed out my issue with Cracker Barrel (why go to a shrink when you can just get married?). I have all these fond memories of going with my now deceased Grandmother when we went on road trips and so it stirs this warm feeling in my heart when I hear the name. But the food is just average and, often, like my experience yesterday, TERRIBLE. We had to get up before dawn to get on the road home to Chicago from Memphis and stopped here when we finally couldn't take the hunger anymore. My husband did it reluctantly and was pretty vocal about the food being crappy. I however, got the afore mentioned warm feeling in my heart when I saw the sign and since he loves me, he relented. Why? I dunno. He's kinda stupid I guess. I promise, Honey... next time, I'll remember how bad it is and won't beg. The country fried steak was EASILY the WORST of its kind I've ever had. Personally, I like Cracker Barrel. From the country store to the country cooking, CB proves to be consistent. I love going in the winter months and eating near the big fireplace. They did not take the time to properly wipe down the table or pick up the disgusting mess on the floor from the barbarians thast were seated there before us. We told the server and one of the managers. They apologized, and said it was unacceptable, and cleaned it up...but they still let it happen. If this is what they allow their employees to get away with in the front of the house, I hate to see what goes on in the kitchen . I'm very happy with this cracker barrel! I've been to quite a few during vacations, however, today (2/2/2018), this one made me happy. The waitress was very tolerable of my neighbors kid, who came with us. He chose to play with a car near her and make loud noises in which she smiled and laughed. It made me very happy to see that. We're having lunch at a Cracker Barrell in southern Illinois. Must be the worst ever. Server has had an attitude from the get-go. Asked immediately if we were from Texas??? Guess because husband said "y'all"??? My salad plate has been sitting there and sitting there, even after meal was delivered. Brought me the wrong chicken dish that was BURNT. She just threw the plate on the table. NO KIDDING! she decided she was gojng to argue with me about the dish. Then, she stated, "I may have thought you wanted the other chicken dish." Just like you may have thought I asked for Italian when I asked for Basalmic Vinegrette dressing???? I still don't have my food and husband is done with his meal as i write this. Kid across from us has a flashlight he keeps flashing everywhere and it keeps hitting my eyes. I mentioned to the server if she could let them know to have the kid stop flashing the light. She just looked at me and walked off. Came back with my burger that I didn't order well-done/on verge of burnt, but medium. I ordered MEDIUM. Not well-done. It was bland. At that point, I just decided I am done with saying anything. I was HUNGRY. Mentioned that to the server and I did tell her I was too hungry to have my food go back yet again. She came back with our check soon after delivering my food. Uhhh, thanks for asking if we wanted anything else (she didn't). 10 minutes later, came back and asked if there was anything else. Took almost 2 hours from the moment we walked in until leaving.
