I sat at the bar here for a small dinner while I was in Parkersburg one night for work. It was not too busy for Thursday evening. They have a full cocktail list with primarily gin, bourbon/whiskey, and tequila drinks, mocktails, and an extensive wine list by the glass or by the bottle. it's mostly, if not entirely, international wines. I tried an organic white wine from Italy and ordered that, you can do a 6 or 9 oz pour. Reasonable prices. I wasn't too hungry so I just got the steak chimichurri flatbread. It was not mind blowing but definitely hit the spot! Would've liked slightly bigger, rarer steak bites. The chimichurri was good. The naan crust was just crispy enough! If I was hungrier I would've ordered the steak entree. Someone next to me ordered the fried green tomato appetizer which looked wonderful. This seems like a hidden gem in this town! read more

Every time we come here, we're warmly greeted! We've had amazing bartenders! We've even received additional tastings and a lovely showing of the downstairs event area. The food is top notch. Everything on the menu is reasonably priced. Never had a bad experience here. I'm thinking that most of the bad reviews are people who don't know how to behave in a semi-formal, classier establishment because we have so few of them in our area. This girl who had lived in NYC, Montreal, and Boston is very impressed with this gem. Key up the good work. My hubby and I love you! read more

My wife and I were seated and we left after 15 min . On the way out we were wished a great rest of our day. We told them no one waited on us and she just looked at us. It was our anniversary. Not real busy, there were 5 or so waitresses chit chatting at the end of the. Bar. So not sure what's up there. read more

What does a person do before attending a play at the Actors Guild? We decided to check out Wine Down on Market, after all wasn't far away. When we arrived we were asked if we had reservations. Which we did not, so we were asked if the bar was okay. Not only was it okay, it was fantastic! We were treated like royalty. Andi, answered all our questions although she was very busy. Her kindness was very nice and a pleasant surprise. I was afraid we would feel out of place but that was not the case. The other couples at the bar area greeted us and made polite and great conversation. Advising us about their favorites and to save room for dessert. We ordered a plate to share of mushrooms and noodles and also a flatbread. My spouse had an Old Fashion and I had a wine flight. The food and drinks did not disappoint. TJ the baker, made an awesome chocolate dessert to top off a delightful experience. We already warned Andi that we will be back! read more

I really want to give this place 5 stars, but, they really need to figure out how to serve their customers timely. It took 40 minutes from the time of our first drink order to receive our first drink. Mind you, it was a cocktail, so it took more time than it would to pour a glass of wine, but 40 minutes is absolutely unacceptable. We also ordered food, but we're not asked by the bartender if we were ready to order. It was 30 minutes into waiting for our drinks that we asked to order food because we knew it was going to be a while. We ordered calamari, margarita pizza and their fries. Margarita pizza was excellent, calamari overcooked and burnt, fries were pretty good! Bartender said they were discounting food, but that's definitely not what we wanted. We wanted to have a great night with good food and drinks. Money was not the point. I spoke with the owner to share our concerns, but I think he was more concerned with telling us about consistency in the product. Yes! I totally agree with consistency, but again.... 40 minutes for a drink is crazy. What they don't realize is that if they can get a cocktail to the consumer within 10 minutes, they could have sold us at least 2-3 more drinks which makes them money, but most importantly, happy customers! I boycotted this place for about 1.5 years because of the same issue. I was there and approximately 8 other people in total were there. They were not busy. That time it took 25 minutes to get a drink. I'm guessing this comment on service will be disregarded, that's why I didn't write the review 2 years ago, but my experience this time was terrible. read more

The food is fantastic. Evey time I have been in the features are great. The service is best in town. Even the owner stops by to say hi. The ambiance is great as well. Always neet and relaxing. In the last week I heard about Wine Down on Market. Sounded interesting and I was going out for a movie and thought why a perfect date night. We arrived about 6 on a Friday night and they weren't particularly busy. We were seated quickly and given a menu/wine list. They had a nice selection of wines but my wife and I both decided on a flight. My wife's sweet flight was 2 whites and a red. My old vine flight was two whites and a red. I was expecting all reds, the menu wasn't all that clear. All wine was ok, nothing truly exciting. Oh! The flights came with tags on the glasses makes 1,2,3. Without the menu I truly had no idea why I was drinking. This seems to be a small plate type of place with only two entrees. They offered a chefs choice menu. It was described as three courses with a wine for each course. It was $70-75 but the server wasn't sure.... Upon further questioning, it turns out the meal was $75 but the wine pairing with each course wasn't included in the price. ‍ So the first item I was interested in was Arancini. It was listed as a sharing plate. I asked how many pieces and was told 4. When it was time for the arancini to arrive we were told oops, it's only one piece. On a sharing plate. The only entrees offered were a fillet and salmon. We got one of each and split it. The salmon was the star here. Not over cook with a delicious glaze and wonderful resotto. The steak on the other had had zero seasoning on it at all. There was no salt and pepper on the table so the unmistakable lack of salt could not be rectified. For what we got, I felt it was over priced. Perhaps the young man that was our server was new for he really didn't know the menu. Dinner was good but I will spend my money elsewhere. read more

I could talk about how good the food is, because it is. But unless u r dressed impeccably I wouldn't enter this place, except if you are a masochist and enjoy people talking down to you. I was first treated rudely by the waiter and asked to move tables, if they want people sitting at certain tables then they should have someone to seat them. Instead of asking people to move. Second I was sitting outside not once was my drink filled. So I sat there sweating bullets till my food finally came. The only pictures I have posted are the only 2 that matter. This restaurant is trying to pull the bait and switch. The first photo is the one on their web site! It clearly shows 3 Arancini with a dish of sauce. So imagine my suprise when the rude little waiter brought me one nugget on a mound of green stuff. It looked nothing like the picture. It looked like a classic bait and switch. I tried to ask the waiter about it, but he was too busy trying to greet his next table to worry about me. So he said let me get my manager with an attitude. She came out and told me that the picture on the website was old and that is the way they make it now and she didn't know what to tell me. Went to give the place a second chance. One person's bad behavior does NOT define an entire business. The bartender Andrea refused to serve us because of my last yelp review and told me to take it up with the owners... so we did and were welcomed back with open arms! This experience was like night and day. We walked in and our server Sandy immediately greeted us and sat us at her table. Miss Sandy was MORE than knowledgeable about the menu. Explaining what the specials were in full detail and making very helpful drink suggestions. That woman deserved every bit of our $100 tip. I ordered the Filet with bourbon sauce let me just say...cooked to perfection-paired with a nice glass of red wine from Argentina. My partner ordered the salmon special with the lemon risotto and a bourbon cocktail both of which were incredible. While we waited on our crème brûlée another server Aaron stopped at our table to ask how everything was even though he wasn't the one taking care of us and noticed my partners hand tattoo and complimented how cool it was. Big smile on his face while he had a small chat with us and proceeded taking good care of his tables. Dessert was stunning and we had no trouble finishing because the portions were unparalleled to any other place in town. Highly satisfied from this experience and the owners Pam and Kip both have very sunny dispositions- we had the pleasure of discussing inspiration for the menu with them by running into them while they were in exploring new menu ideas and let me just say we can't WAIT to see what they do next. read more

The cocktails are over priced and the food menu is extremely limited. The flatbread came out cold, but the filet was the best steak I have ever had. Overall, not worth the money with such a limited dinner menu. The Blennerhassett is a better choice. read more

I am so impressed with the food quality and the wine list at wine down on market. I just had a miso glaze salmon over risotto with bok choy, and it was every bit as good as meals in fancy restaurants in big cities. If you were in Parkersburg, absolutely make this the place you come to for your dinner. read more

While they don't hold up to a NYC wine bar they are very knowledgeable about their wine selection and have pretty nice selection of bites (they originally opened with an intention of being more of a wine place with a light snack menu, but grew the menu because that's what customers wanted). Definitely worth trying. read more
