This place. This is my kind of place! The Veggie Wagon has all of the things your bougie-slash-hippie heart desires: local beer and kombucha on tap, free-range eggs, a coffee bar with bulletproof coffee, freshly ground nut butters, bottles of organic wine, hydroponic butter lettuce, etcetera. It has many if not all of the things you're looking for. During the summer, they even have DIY ice cream sandwiches! Who doesn't want to make and customize their own ice cream sandwich? No one, that's who. There were so many things I wanted to buy when I visited, but I just ended up with a to-go cup of bulletproof coffee, which is basically coffee with butter in it. I don't follow keto eating practices at all, but I do like a good cup of bulletproof coffee, because when it's made right, it's smooth and butterscotchy and delightful. The bulletproof coffee at The Veggie Wagon was all of those adjectives! There's a little produce stand outside of the store, which is quite cute and quaint. When you go inside, you'll see even more locally grown produce items. We were around for tomato and berry season, so that's what was available. There's lots of parking here on the side of the building, and picnic tables out front in case you want to stay a while and enjoy your goodies on site. read more

This was my first time at this location thanks to an Instagram giveaway! I got to try their take-out meals. It was a spaghetti squash chicken casserole and it was so delicious. My husband already wants me to go back for more. I stopped in during my lunch break so I wasn't able to spend a lot of time there but they definitely had so many goodies. There was fresh veggies, baked goods, homemade meals, soaps, hats, sauces, art from local artists, candy, beer and so much more. I can't wait to go back. read more

A really cool place - it's more of a grocery with some togo food. Staff is friendly. We went it both Carolina Beach and the Wilmington location. Picked up some chicken salad, crackers and the fruit slushes - holy crap - the fruit slush. We had peach with hemp powder (protein). Wow. They sweeten them with honey - the second I got (next day - and no judging!!!) I had them hold off the honey - I thought it was better without the honey. I recommend for specialty grocery shopping and ice cream (didn't try it but looks good). Don't forget the fruit slush!! read more

This is an adorable shoppe and it offers organic produce, meats, cheeses and ice cream choices. Their cookie ice cream sandwiches are divine! They also offer local craftsmen to display goods like pottery etc. Great and cozy ambiance! read more

I cannot get enough of The Veggie Wagon! They offer a perfect mix of house made meals, baked goods, ice cream... along with NC coffees, tea, wine, snacks, and fresh produce. We got some take and bake ziti, apple cobbler, vanilla ice cream, coffee, organic cream, sodas, and a few aluminum bottled waters for our vacation condo. Ziti was perfect after 30 minutes in the toaster oven. The ice cream is SO GOOD. Take and bake hot apple cobbler was a very fun treat to have on an unseasonably cool spring evening. I'm sure the ice cream will be great in the summer time when we make it back to the beach. read more

Usually I am a Yelp review scrooge. I don't mean I write mean reviews I just wait, and wait and wait to write and throw up some stars. Not this time. The Veggie Wagon gets a 4 star role call from me right out the box. They have only been open since Monday (said the lady behind the counter)...but they already have on their game face. You had me at hot, fresh home made cookies. Yep. You did. And a beer tasting bar...and Fresh homemade soda? Cheese, bread, meat all local. You could just stand in there with an empty picnic basket in one hand, and twirl around a couple of times... getting everything you need, wine, cheese, nuts, (did I mention the make your own trail mix bar) with really cool things that would impress whomever you need... And Spreads...lovely spreads for the french-like baguette sticks. Ok yes, this review is all over the place... Because I kept getting distracted with all the scrumptions....(scrumptious options....get it?) The place is like a treasure trove... locally made icecream? Yes please.... the only bummer...the ice cream maker had labels that had type smaller than grains of sand, so i could not read the ingredients....thought I saw guar gum... not a fan of that stuff in ice cream, but if the other ingredients are wholesome... I'll look the other way... They seem to have carefully thought out their offerings, fresh chicken from Mebane, North Carolina, nice looking ravioli with interesting but not culinarily frightening ingredients..... I left with a hot fresh cookie in my hand...chocolate chips in that gooey state, cookie in that delectable gooey/crisp state that would please the crispy minded folks and the dough eaters alike. I caught a glimpse of this new place in my newsfeed and was intrigued. They were open early so I hopped in the car to go check them out. Less than 5 minutes away on back roads was exciting. I couldn't wait to see what they had so I could potentially use it as my go to store for last minute "must haves". I am so pleased, it has so much personality and more than anyone could hope for. Need glutten free? They have it! Need wine and cheese? THEY HAVE IT! Need coffee, a slushee, a fresh baked cookie, a special spice or [of course] veggies - they have it. It was clean, no one was pressuring you for a sale, I was free to roam. I went to The Veggie Wagon first back in December because I heard that they were having a sparkling wine tasting. However, I arrived at the wrong location for this. Nevemind! I decided to make the best of it. The two employees there made me feel right at home. They pointed out free food samples, and I discovered that I could have a glass a wine while I shopped. They feature a white and a red choice at five dollars each. I initially thought that The Veggie Wagon might only have vegetarian and vegan selections, but no. They should be called The Everything Wagon! Want ice cream? They make their own. Is coffee your thing? There is quite a selection. Furthermore, there are pre made meals to take home and put in the oven, freshly baked cookies, and olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The only thing that they don't make is their own water ; ) And, did I mention the beer? They have growlers to fill with an assortment of local selections. I have the most fun tasting and picking the perfect beer for my husband. So, yes, I went back a couple of times since December. It's like going on a field trip......with samples! Speaking of which, my husband's beer growler is empty. Time for another trip to The Veggie Wagon! read more

Such a neat shop! They have a large selection of organic foods, including a variety of beer and wine. They have a coffee bar (with amazing espresso drinks and hot chocolate this time of year!) as well as slushees, fresh squeezed juices, fresh baked sweets, a trail mix bar, pre-made meals, and much more. They always have free samples of things like dips and oils for bread. The atmosphere and friendly staff keep me coming back, I often stop in for a cheap and fresh brewed iced tea before work and a muffin or cookie to snack on.
