We stopped in the veggie wagon on a rainy day to grab a coffee. My brown sugar cinnamon latte was amazing and my husband said his cold brew was decent too. We liked the wide selection of local and homemade products. Definitely a little on the pricier side but everything looked delicious!! We also bought their homemade ranch and enjoyed it! read more

We went to the Veggie Wagon twice during our vacation this week. We got a few cheeses for charcuterie nights, the stuffed shells ready meal, a bag of salad, a few drinks (juice, tea, water), and a cheese ball sampler. We went back and got the cheesy quinoa, broccoli & all natural chicken bake for another easy dinner. Unfortunately the quinoa dish got a bit over browned, but we blame the oven in our vacation rental. The employees were super nice and helpful as always. We visited Veggie Wagon a couple of times while vacationing in Carolina Beach. The first was to get lattes to have with our breakfast bagels (from Island Bagels). We doubled the espresso to four shots, which was a good call to have a sufficiently strong drink. Otherwise, the coffee would have been very weak, at least for our taste. We noticed that they had make-your-own ice cream cookie sandwiches, so we returned another day to try one. My husband chose the brownie cookies on both sides, and the Bailey's ice cream. The cookies were soft and moist, but the ice cream was probably the worst that either of us has ever had. It tasted more like ice milk, and it had no creaminess or flavor. I don't know how it was made, but it was just terrible. The ice cream was also preshaped and frozen for the sandwiches, rather than being scooped to order. So it was really cold and icy, making it hard to bite the sandwich. They also have a variety of fruits and vegetables, beer and wine, and ready-to-cook meals. But I would definitely skip the ice cream sandwiches! read more

The one place you should stop in if you're visiting CB! They have the best selection of local goods from bath bombs to take and bake meals. Everything is made locally and is made with sustainability in mind, which is so great to see a business that cares about their impact on the environment!! They also sell cups of coffee and the most AMAZING buildable ice cream sandwiches. If you're stopping by the beach definitely stop in for some beach snacks or a nice pick me up on your way out. I can't express how awesome this place is. Perfect location right on Carolina beach but also Kure beach is super close. They have produce and vegetables outside where you can shop with a small basket outside. The parking lot is kind of small but there is parking on the street not too far down. The inside is a market on the right where you can purchase wine, beer, other drinks, cheese and meets, salads, wraps, and many more. Perfect place to grab some meat or fish for dinner. You can also get sides of vegetables and some baked good for breakfast or dessert. The store has two sides where the other side has more food options in the fridge, beers on draft, coffee, and healthy slushees you customize yourself!! I got an iced vanilla lattes which was super good. I cannot wait to come back to purchase more drinks and food as well. The colorful signs outside and bountiful baskets of fruit and vegetables caught my eye as we were taking a walk in Carolina Beach. When you enter the shop, you will see all kinds of local food goods for sale. Think of it as a local and natural grocer selling honey, eggs, cheese, jams, bread, meat, sauces, baked goods and non-food items such as apparel, candles and local products. I was not looking for anything in particular and just browsing. I can see this being a great option if you are renting a house or condo in the Carolina or Kure Beach area and wanting to pick up a few items. They offer wine and beer as well and the prices are decent since you are paying for natural vs chain and processed goods. I enjoyed reading the magazine article of the owners featured in the "Our State" magazine on the wall. The couple started selling produce and then turned it into a produce-delivery model. They have a passion for everything local and their shop showcases this concept and keep local farmers and artists in business. In the adjoining room is a a coffee bar and ice cream area and they also serve beer on draft. We were there in a cold day so everyone was lined up for hot chocolate and coffee and they were very busy. We decided to just get a local beer on draft from Check Six in Southport and you pay $3 for the mason jar glass they serve it in if you are going to keep it. They will also refill growlers and the beer selection was great with beer from Wake Forest's White Street and Raleigh's Compass Rose. I started following Veggie Wagon on facebook and instagram as well and they keep it fresh with new updates on a weekly basis.
