We had several home VHS tapes from the early 90's converted here to digital by putting them on a USB flash drive. The staff were really friendly, and even processed the run time of all the tapes together and called us to confirm the price of conversion (about $40 per hour of footage) before starting the job. They used our own USB drive, although they offer some for sale as well. They even fixed a tape that had gotten damaged when we tried to play the VHS films at home! It's not a cheap service, but if you convert to digital files you'll probably never have to worry about re-converting them again. The memories are so worth it, and we were so happy to find The Video Editor on Yelp to help us with this task. Called them on the 12th, to find out what is going on and was told( matter of fact), that someone is going to do it on the 15th and give me a call right away. That did not happen. While they don't have the most creative name, I have to highly endorse the Video Editor. A series of technical difficulties forced me right up against a deadline of an indie flick I was working on. I needed to make copies of the movie and send them back to L.A., and I was terrified that it wasn't going to happen. I was up early trying to get the dvds sent so I could catch the bus up to New York. So early, in fact, that I got to the Video Editor about 45 minutes before they were supposed to open. But much to my delight, the door was unlocked. It was around the holidays and they were closing an hour early, so to compensate they opened an hour early. Awesome! And the gal who helped me? Super-friendly! And she knew her stuff. Awesome x2! Maybe 20 minutes and 36$ later I had my dvds copied, labeled, and ready for delivery. So I owe you, the Video Editor. Working with Video Editor was a horrendous experience. I brought seven VHS tapes with family videos from the past 30 years to Video Editor to be converted to DVDs. When I tried to watch the DVDs that were produced from the VHS tapes, one of the seven DVDs failed to play on any DVD machine or on my computer. Another of the DVDs was of such poor quality as to be unwatchable. Unfortunately, I had already disposed of the original VHS tapes, so the videos from two family events from 23-27 years ago were permanently lost. If this company has any kind of quality control, it certainly was not working with my order. When I brought the DVD with the unopenable file back to Video Editor, they were unable to do anything to recover the video. When I asked for the DVD back (many phone calls), they had "lost" it. So, I don't even have the opportunity to try another vendor. According to Jeff of Video Editor, the problems I ran into "never happen." But, they happened to me on two of seven DVDs - and my family is furious with me for trusting these memories to Video Editor. If you have something valuable to process, go somewhere else!! read more

The videos of my daughter's sweet 16 party were WAY under-exposed. I had spoken with the engineers at two Washington DC TV stations and they had no solutions. Luckily, I found the Video Editor (on the Rockville Pike. They had rental equipment that could fix this. The techie showed me how to use the equipment and then basically did all the work for me, charging only for the rental fees. This man saved the day and I couldn't thank him enough. He said he was changing the "video timing" but I had no idea about what he really did. Although this was 14 years ago, I would not hesitate to go back to them with any video problem I had. read more

Birthday Video Editing Assistance: I contacted The Video editor to schedule a video editing session to complete a creative DVD (pictures, captions, and music) for my Dad's birthday party. Connor was my video editor, who was thorough, fast, and very pleasant. He has been working there for 9 years, which says something. We had a great time with this project, and he did a great job with it. I had poor quality scanning, which required him to scan about 100 pictures for me, in addition to coordinating the 300+ pictures, videos, and music to compile the 17 minute video. It turned out great! The owner was there, too- a very personable and helpful guy. I highly recommend The Video editor for such projects. They also transfer beta, vhs and other kinds of media onto dvds for a reasonable cost. I will definitely return here in the near future!
