I wish I had taken two servings of short ribs and skipped the chicken parm. The short ribs were juicy, so tender and just falling apart with my fork. Excellent, especially for a buffet meal at a wedding. The place is really cool and if you are considering having an event in the future, check the Castle out. HAVE FUN!!

The BEST wedding venue we could have ever asked for!…read more We had our wedding April 2024 and was nervous for the weather with the indoor/outdoor venue, but it ended up being perfect. The sun came out just in time for the 4pm cocktail hour and we were able to enjoy being on the grass without it being wet. Our guests kept talking about how amazing the view was - which is exactly why we chose it! This is perfect for if you want a beach wedding, but not directly on the sand. We wanted our guests to be outside for as much as possible to enjoy the La Jolla view, so we had cocktail hour and our buffet table outside. With the help of Personal Touch Dining, we also had bar tables set up outside for guests to still enjoy being outside during the party. Andrew and the rest of the Scripps Seaside Forum team was very easy to work with - always being available over email or text for any random questions I had.

Darlington House is a truly beautiful wedding venue, and overall, we had a good experience hosting…read moreour April wedding there. The grounds were spotless, the landscaping and different spaces were so pretty that we needed very little additional decor, and our guests had a great time. We were also able to schedule unlimited walkthroughs leading up to the wedding, which was really helpful, and there were no issues with setup, teardown, or getting our security deposit back. Communication with Carly, the venue coordinator, was always quick and professional through the venue's portal. She sent reminders about vendor COIs and other important information, which helped keep us on track leading up to the wedding. My biggest advice to other couples would be to read the contract in full and make sure you are comfortable with the venue's rules before booking. Given that it is a historic site, the rules are extremely specific and there is very little flexibility, so you have to be willing to get creative within their guidelines. In our experience, if we asked for an exception to a rule, the answer was no. The biggest challenge for us was the lack of a built-in rain plan at the venue level. There was no flexibility to use indoor spaces in case of inclement weather, so we had to spend a pretty significant amount on a tent to ensure the day would go smoothly. That said, Carly was helpful in guiding us toward vendors and coordinating with another couple so we could split the tent cost, which we really appreciated. Overall, Darlington House is a gorgeous venue, and the actual wedding day went smoothly; we loved it. My late afternoon reception was held in the grassy, palm tree-lined section of Luce Court & Legacy Plaza, cocktail hour was in the patio area of McMillin Companies Event Center, and the dinner recption was inside McMillin. My top criteria in selecting a venue was 1) the capacity to nail both ceremony and reception without relocation 2) budget, and 3) a uniquely San Diego feel... NTC Venues satisfied all three easily. The clean, polished look of both indoor and outdoor venues offer a perfect canvas for whatever theme/decor you choose to create. And if you cringe at the idea of multi-venue weddings (like me), NTC is a great place to have your ceremony, reception, and pre- and post-wedding photos without the inconvenience of traveling to different locations. Less travel means you have more time to kick back and actually enjoy your party! :) The Event Sales Manager, Rebecca Duckworth, was definitely one of the most pleasant vendor reps I had the pleasure of meeting and working with! On top of her warm, sweet personality, she was very professional, generously accommodating of our needs, and responded promptly and thoroughly to any and all emails.

A definite plus is that there is ample (FREE) parking, and that there are parking lots that are close in proximity to avoid walking a distance. A beautiful fountain and backdrop centers the promenade for some great pics as the sun sets. The reception was well attended with about 300 people. When you're Filipino, it's definitely a PARTY!!! The food was OK as they served 2 different salads, bread, 2 pastas and beef. I was most impressed with the pasta dishes. The tortellini was my fave. The beef was a bit on the dry side. The facility is a bit dated, but it does serve the purpose of holding a grand event. A concern that needs to be addressed is the issue of plugs, cords and outlets. Although the cords were taped to the ground, there were some cords that were clearly sticking up from the floor in the middle of the pathway. One lola actually tripped and fell landing on her kneecaps. OUCH!!!

We were undecided on our first visit so we visited again. Dalena was happy to have ya back. From the beginning of her lighted path, down to a magical ceremony site, strolled by the pond for remote control race boats and headed on down to the reception which used to be an arena. Impressive. Don't forget all the other hidden areas of the venue. The cocktail hour bar, games and games, tucked away private benches, small area for recording a video for the bride and groom, the gift area and millions of signs. Dalena makes sure all the cutesy details are perfect. We decided this was our magical place to get married & booked!! We arrived for our first tasting & it was a party to remember! The food was insanely delicious and nothing to complain about. Her staff was organized and very happy to help with any request. We are excited for our wedding day which will be 11-9-19!
