I cannot say enough nice things about the staff, environment and culture of this caring community. From the minute you walk into Park Meadows, you are greeted by warm , friendly people at the front desk...As I walk to her apartment, residents are calm, content, very at home. Her nurses are competent, caring, professional and always welcoming as they greet me. Her care has always been above and beyond. I am sure they go way past their job descriptions to bring comfort to the residents....who could ask for more? Our family feels so lucky that we chose Park Meadows and are forever grateful

Our 92 year-old father/grandfather/father-in-law chose Parks Meadow for moving into a senior…read morefacility last Fall (2022). He eventually moved to Parks Meadow in January of 2023; however, it was recommended that he reserve his unit by paying the December 2022 rent. Unfortunately, soon after his move he became ill, hospitalized and passed away in mid-February, 2023. His stay at Park Meadows was only 3 1/2 weeks (late January to mid-February). The family paid March rent as we needed time to remove his belongings from the unit. In all, we paid 4 month's rent for his short stay. Another part of his "singing" up for Park Meadows was a "one time non-refundable" Community Fee - in this case $10,000 listed on page 40 of a 52-page lease agreement. It was explained that the Community Fee would lower his rent over his stay at Park Meadows. The family requested that Park Meadows refund at least part of the Community Fee. as his unit was only used a short time and he did not get a chance to use dining or any other facility amenities. Obviously, the family is very disappointed, and surprised, on the position Park Meadows is taking. Although there is no legal recourse, we find it unethical for Park Meadows to keep all of the "Community Fee" as his residence was so short in time. In speaking to the business officer at the facility, she could only say "it's out of my hands" and "I completely understand". In the end, it feels like a 92 year old man was taken advantage of with a very long and detailed lease agreement and an insensitive corporate entity.

(there are good workers here) Most do not do their job and/or do not know what they are doing. They made me pay lots of money even after I got my husband out of there. They only want $$$$ My husband passed Dec 14 2024. He was at one of the better places, Oxford Grand. They care As for mccrite..So many THUMBS DOWN They should give me my husbands $10,000 back. I will NEVER forget and will be posting every year. I hope no one else is going through this or will have to :(

We had many issues with our Mom's care at Care Haven. They stage the homes for people looking for…read morea place for their loved ones, but the normal day to day experience for the residents is not like that. There was only one excellent geriatric caregiver during the time our Mom was there. Most of the others were mediocre - two were poor. One was abusive. More time was spent in food prep than in helping with the needs of the residents. Families of residents don't want to complain because of how that complaint will potentially affect their loved one's care. They are stuck in a house without much to do but be stuck in front of a TV, with rare outside activities, no crafts, no reading, games etc...but the meals were good. Our Mom needed help eating and was not given assistance except by the one wonderful employee- who was only there 3 days a week. You are at the mercy of the one person who works there - who is just hired to fill a vacancy. I could say more, but keep looking.

My brother has been in JKV Assisted Living, JKV rehab and now he's been in JKV Care Center for many…read moremonths. He has received excellent care from all 3 areas. John Knox has a great reputation in the Lee's Summit community for a reason. All social workers, directors of nurses, nursing staff, housekeeping, maintenance and cafeteria workers go above and beyond in the good care they provide. And it's all because they care. I've not been shy about expressing my brother's needs and my concerns. I always receive kindness and appropriate action from everyone. My family is very blessed that JKV is caring for my brother. DON'T BUY IN... Save your money and keep your future options open…read more Independent Living at John Knox Village is very satisfying for most residents. On the surface, the atmosphere and grounds are very inviting and conveniently located near shopping areas. As time moves on, however, and assisted living and/or nursing care become necessary, the risk is high that the policies and conditions will disappoint. For example, transportation and activities at the Assisted Living facility, once plentiful, have diminished over the years. The Skilled Nursing Unit at the Care Center, especially Long Term Care, is delinquent with missing medication dosages, very long wait times for call buttons, and high staff turnover, resulting in confusion of dosages and patients. Hearing aids? Staff is commonly not aware of how to insert them or the need to change batteries. Weekends are especially devoid of clinical help. Administration operates on the bottom dollar. They squander resources needed for reforms and additional help so they can build and market to attract new residents. Instead of buying in and paying for future care in the Care Center, parents should carefully invest that money so that they can move to another facility should they become unhappy. Buying in is like buying futures in the market; it is gambling that the future care will meet the needs. The sales pitch is seductive, promising great things that simply do not meet reality. There are PROS: amazing volunteers, without whom JKV would be truly substandard, and the residents, who are very sweet and friendly.

Now, I didn't swear, and I never raised my voice, so I'll ask you, is that professional? Are these people the people you want to trust beloved elderly and former war heroes? We moved my mother into Rose Estates back in November. My mother was full of anxiety and remorse…read moreabout losing her independence following a stroke. With COVID, it was become more and more difficult for her to care for herself on her own and we worried about the daily isolation and loneliness. It was important to us that her experience was as smooth and positive as possible. The staff at Rose Estates has been warm and welcoming. An example, my mom was worried about running out of dog food and one of their folks went a pick some up for her. She loves the activities, loves the 3 prepared meals a day and talks about her trips to walmart, entertainment--even Elvis came to visit! As with any transition like this there have been a few bumps, but they have done their best to make them right. She is still adjusting and overall we are very pleased with the experience so far. We are very please with the decision to move her here.
