I have a tinge of regret about not knowing his work earlier. His most expensive work the Phantom fetched 6.5 million. I've seen a version of it at this gallery but I bet the original is probably going to render me speechless for hours. The subject is the Antelope Canyon in AZ. A slot canyon carved out by natural flowing water over the course of millions of years. Although Adam and I fell in love with one of his work called the Scarlet Moods. It made sense to me when I first saw it. It beckoned for me to come closer. It's one of his newer work. It's a striking contrast between the whiteness of the aspen trees and the surrounding snow against the fiery red/orange leaves. PEACEFUL and yet seductive. My husband thought we were going to watch them make our artwork and could not understand why we needed to wear shoes and cotton. To his surprise, we were thoroughly engaged. It was beyond amazing and a "HAVE TO DO". Thank you, Louis and T-bone. I was most concerned about safety and the heat. They were very good about safety and explained everything. I was literally sitting on a sofa minding my business and I have no idea the reason. The irony is, this was the same guy who fed my girlfriend red wine until she bought a $6,000 painting 12 years ago (not to mention I've brought in a handful of friends when they visited the island). My family has owned businesses on Maui since 1983; I'll certainly be sharing this incident with friends and family here--if any of my friends ran their businesses like this their doors would have been shuttered long ago. More than just being an unnecessarily rude experience, just bizarre.

Highly memorable not only for the pieces done by many local artists and art geniuses, but for his ability to bring the art to life with his storytelling. Local artists with work hanging in the gallery tend to show and hang out at the gallery too, which I've never heard before. One artist hanging in the gallery was in front painting the whole time; oftentimes he'll even let kids come and paint with him! He (and also the crayon artist who is so cool and good) can make you custom pieces at a very affordable price. Visit this gallery just to hear the back stories of the art alone and have your imagination be captured.

Andre, the Art Consultant, was very knowledgeable and generous with his time. Downstairs, in the jail house gallery, Amanda welcomed us and we left as friends. You must also check out Johanna's lei's - meticulously crafted out of ribbon. This is a dangerous place for your wallet, but you'll leave with a warm glow and great memories as well as a little piece of authentic Maui.
