Bought our third piece from Peter Lik in Lahaina this week! Fell in love with it, after seeing it online (this gorgeous composite [aka double exposure] caused quite a remarkable stir in the art world) and it ended up that we had to have it. We were excited about putting it in our new wine bar/tap room in Sonoma. We found our wonderful friend Philip and he facilitated the sale and offered us great ideas about the piece. Justin and Jesse, who also work for Lik, were just as excited for us and the three of them spent time really making the experience even more of a MUST-have-it experience. Peter Lick is an awesome photographer. I was introduced to his work by no other than Adam. I know I've never given this gallery a thought in my previous travels to Maui. I have a tinge of regret about not knowing his work earlier. His most expensive work the Phantom fetched 6.5 million. I've seen a version of it at this gallery but I bet the original is probably going to render me speechless for hours. The subject is the Antelope Canyon in AZ. A slot canyon carved out by natural flowing water over the course of millions of years. Although Adam and I fell in love with one of his work called the Scarlet Moods. It made sense to me when I first saw it. It beckoned for me to come closer. It's one of his newer work. It's a striking contrast between the whiteness of the aspen trees and the surrounding snow against the fiery red/orange leaves. PEACEFUL and yet seductive. While strolling down Front Street in Lahaina on a hot west Maui day, we were in some desperate need of something refreshing. Gelato perhaps? Maybe a Pina Colada? Neither of those options would ever be as refreshing as the very moment you step into the Peter Lik Gallery. The combination of his awe-inspiring photographic art, and the coolest AC around town, will have you wanting to spend all day here : ) We entered the gallery and were approached by John, a very friendly and knowledgeable Peter Lik representative. He spent over an hour with us explaining just how the pricing scale works, showing us many different pieces in the private viewing rooms with dimming lights, and letting us wander around at our leisure. He was extremely helpful and even emailed us specific jpeg images that we liked / that he thought we might like, the very next day! Can't beat the 4.166% sales tax Hawaii has to offer when purchasing an item that's a few thousand dollars! They can ship it to your house, ooooooor you can always take a trip back to Maui just to pick it up, teehee. Hey, any excuse to go back, right? ; ) read more

I love it.. love it.. love it.. didn't believe my luck when I saw the gallery a few steps away from our condo... (What a lucky Girl am I) .... usually I only have the chance to see his work in Vegas so now I will take my fill as much as I can.... They say that you have to focus in what you want and I'm focusing on Peter Links Portrait! (lol) what a Gorgeous and talented Artist!... his art is simply amazing and his photography is STUNNING! they are all marvelous. I'm not a photography connoisseur or art buff but this place is great. There's plenty of beautiful photography to feast eyes on (obviously) and the style/selection resonates well with me. Staff are friendly and eager to chat but didn't bother us or try to push a sale too hard (I suspect though that if we had given the vibe of people who could afford a $7000 print, that might be a different experience heh). Lighting and layout is gorgeous and expertly match the gallery pieces. Definitely check it out if you're I'm the area (especially right after a nice dining experience at a nearby restaurant). read more

I have no words to describe how awesome this place is, well, maybe I have some words - just not ones that will do this place justice. I was absolutely mesmerized by the photography in his gallery - it's unlike anything I've ever seen. I also loved that the consultants were willing to show us everything we wanted even though it was probably obvious we weren't buying that day. They showed us the Lik Elements and all kinds of other pieces that were similar to things we said we liked. Such beautiful art and wonderful consultants mean we'll be buying someday. Also, you have to ask for the lighting demo. It's a game changer. read more

This was the gallery that introduced me to all the other galleries on Front Street. Being a poor just-graduated law student with two kids to boot, I never thought of collecting art. But coming in here and my subsequent visits to other galleries made me wish I had the budget to collect artwork! We were told that Lahaina is one of THE top places to look at new and upcoming art. The Lik gallery was the PERFECT starting point. The person who spoke with us, Ian, was completely friendly and informative about the photos and the photographer, and never once did I feel like I was being out-snobbed or that I wasn't good enough or rich enough to be in there. I usually chase myself out of galleries because I don't care for being treated like I'm not as good and I've gotten that sense in other galleries, especially when I just come right out and say that I don't have money to buy anything. But Ian never pushed anything, just told us how amazing everything is and gave us a general strategy for buying if we're interested in the future. I really appreciated that attitude and it made me brave enough to try out other galleries as well. Peter Lik is the top selling photographer and it was completely apparent to see why. I do photography just for fun but know enough about the technicalities to recognize when something amazing has been done, but you can be completely ignorant about the intricacies of the camera and still appreciate and fall in love with so many of the photographs in this gallery. The print quality is amazing. I can't wait to save up enough to put one of these up in my home. read more

I felt as though I was completely transplanted with each picture. If you need to disappear in your day, then just sit infront of one of these pictures and meditate on the moment. Absolutely some of the most beautiful photography I have ever seen. I was standing in awe of the Hawaiian and Montana photos. He has shot all over the world and his work is breath taking. The staff was so kind and knowledgable. They showed us several pieces and the different way you could light them. Back lit, up light, front light. They never once rushed us and took the time to explain each piece we wanted to see and went through how they do their pricing. The gallery is much bigger than it looks from the street and goes on through 4 rooms. A must stop when in Hawaii. read more

Absolutely awe inspiring and stunning art!!! Words cannot describe the emotions you feel when viewing Peter Lik's pieces. My husband and I have seen his work before and fell in love. So to come across his gallery in Lahaina was truly a lucky accident. We just LOVE LOVE LOVE his work. Everything is indescribable. The staff is very friendly and of course knowledgeable. This gallery has simply amazing photographs. Peter is an Australian photographer and he takes pictures of the most beautiful nature scenes. Had an amazing experience here! I was not very familiar with Peter Lik's work but my friend is a huge fan so he brought me to the gallery. The photography was amazing and the sales person was very attentive. He was sincerely passionate about the work and I think he sensed our excitement so he thought we were potential buyers. When we were in the back room sitting on the couch looking at the Great Wall of China my friend said all we need now is a beer and I said yes that and some popcorn. Within a minute the sales guy came back with a beer and popcorn. Haha who walks around an art gallery at 11am with a beer in hand! We did! Amazing photography and sales people who are passionate about their jobs. Great combination. If I had more money I would buy! read more

I have been a fan of Peter Lik photography for several years now. I got the Maui coffee table book that he recently came out with for $35 at this gallery. It showcases all the best of the island in superb full potential beauty. When I was there they pulled out Peter Lik's limited edition GIANT photo book for me to sneak peak. Its around $2K but whoa did it look worth it! I guess he's coming out with some kind of reality show now so I'll have to watch out for it read more

Let's face it...while seeing some huge galleries in Vegas is fun...this is where it all begin for Peter Lik in the U.S. it was back in 2005 that my husband and I walked by this gallery and fell in love with Peter Lik's work. We walked in the door just to check it out...actually purchasing something was not even in my mind.....fast forward three hours later and the gallery has closed, and they've gone next door to buy us some beers in celebration of our first Peter Lik purchase. Now, fast forward six years and I now live in Tucson. Five stars for the photographs alone, and another five for the helpful staff at the Lahaina Gallery. Be prepared for your jaw to hit the floor when you walk in. I could stare at the "Tree of Life" all day long. That piece is on my "top 5 first purchases after I win the lottery" list. There's a lot of amazing images to choose from, and the knowledgeable and helpful staff can help you pick the right one (or ones) for you. We worked with Val, who was very pleasant and patient with our indecisiveness. We came back the next day inquiring about potential purchases, and although Val wasn't there, the salesperson available (didn't catch his name) was just as helpful. No pushy salespeople here, but then again a lot of it has to do with the fact that the pictures sell themselves! read more

My husband and I, we are beginners of art collection. We love to find good pieces on travel, we collected our last two paintings one from Germany and the other one from London. When we walked on the front street, we were attracted by the photography shown in the window, so we walked in this gallery to see if there is anything we would be interested in. Jeff is a great sales guy, these two stars are for him. He introduced us about the artist, the technique of film. Because we showed our interests, he offered to show us one piece in the dark room with changing lighting effects. But unfortunately that piece was hanging on the other side of the wall and he had to ask someone to help him move it. That's when the unpleasant experience started. One guy came, he was reluctant to help and was like, really? we need to move this? After Jeff politely asked three times, he finally gave a hand. We enjoyed that lightning effect on the piece, and decided we would do more research on the artist after we went back to our hotel. Because buying an art piece to us, is not only buying a painting or photography we like, the more important part is the investment value. We will not buy anything before doing our homework. After wandering in the gallery for another few minutes, we thanked Jeff again and were about to head out. Then, the other guy spoke to Jeff in a very loud and satiric tone, saying 'I thought they'll buy it at least after you moved that piece'. This is not OK! I feel so sad for Jeff that he has to work with a guy like this, being not appreciate for others' hard work. I don't even bother to hear or research more about this artist, this experience just ruined our night. read more

Worst gallery experience in my entire life- Twice. In 2012 I visited the Peter Lik gallery on Front Street in Lahaina & I asked to see his book. Before I was even shown the book, I inquired the cost of the book & the salesman told me, "It's expensive". I again asked how much the book was & he turn his attention on to another customer & never showed me the book. Thank God the Wyland Gallery is across the street & had no problem sharing information with me & I left with two lovely new pieces for my home. Last night while again visiting Lahaina, my guest asked to go inside the Peter Lik gallery, as I was walking in I shared my previous experience with my friend. I was speaking directly with her about what little I know about the artist. I shared he sold a $6M picture and there is a book of his collection & up walks this complete jerk who ease dropping on my private conversation to correct me. "The book is $3k and the picture sold for $6.7m". I told him I wasn't speaking with him & the next thing I know that complete jerk asked me if I wanted to "wait outside while my friends enjoy the exhibit" what ever you do stay away from this gallery. Zero class, the man claimed to be the manager which means this type of conduct is completely acceptable. I'm sure Valdimir Kush & Wyland are reaping the rewards of such a low life. I spend $25k on art I really love & I can assure you I will never enter that filthy gallery again. No class, no kindness or respect & overly offensive management. read more

No, I will not be shopping at a Peter Lik gallery anywhere ever. My husband and I had the most horrible experience there with the sales person and will tell everybody we know to also stay away. We went to Maui last month and had an enjoyable time until we ran into the Peter Lik employee. She was rude and unprofessional and very arrogant. She spoke down to us in a very condinsending manner. Which is funny because she can't be more than five feet tall. I would think twice about shopping there. read more

My wife and I have been admiring Peter's work in Maui for many years. We recently decided to purchase a picture after spending a wonderful time with Genafer and Jason at the gallery. While we were in Maui Peter unveiled his newest picture, Ocean Dance, and we had a chance to meet with him. He was very friendly and let us take a picture with him, which he insisted be taken in front of the picture we had purchased.
