I've been living here for two years, and have had a MICE problem this whole time! the Pest control and Maintenance are HORRIBLE at getting them under control. I've had to get myself a Cat just because the traps they DONT CHECK or CHANGE OFTEN don't work. I was told that the maintenance would come and drill into the walls to help prevent the mice from entering my apartment but that has NOT happened and it's been at least 2 months since i was told. THE mice problem is getting worst, & they GO up on the rent with no problem, and the elevators work SOMETIMES in a 10 story building. the Lobby ALWAYS smells like sewage, and the hallways are unbearably hot! read more

It's funny that the reviews are for the most part positive. I don't know where folks lived prior to here. But I've lived here for many many years and the owners are horrible. Cons: There are cockroaches in the basement, many dryers are broken, and the security doesn't do a very good job at all. The good tenants have complained vehemently about the quality of tenants that are selected to live here. There are situations of noisy tenants but don't bother complaining about them because the owners do absolutely NOTHING to resolve the situations. It's sad because if there were better quality tenants in the building, I'm SURE they would do something about situations. There are a few people in the rental office who are very nice I will say that. But they can't really do so much but report the problems. Don't let the website fool you - there are broken blinds in many windows and trash on many of the floors. Tenants don't believe in taking trash to the docks and leave bags OUTSIDE of trash rooms, instead of just dropping them down the shoot. Weed smoking is rampant - completely and it seeps into other apartments. There's urine in the elevators, dog droppings in the basement (Which doesn't help the cockroach problem), cigarette ashes on the columns of the floor, the list goes ON. AND when it's summer, there is no A/C in the hallways OR the elevators. It's a sauna in the hallways. And the elevators also break down continuously. They need to be replaced. There are dogs that have no business being in an apartment building. These apartments are not big enough for big dogs like pit bulls, german shepherds, huskies, etc. And we have had situations of pit bulls biting children. The apartments are a nice size just not a nice size for BIG dogs. The previous owners banned bigger dogs but these owners literally let anyone live here with any kind of pet. Sad... Pros: The parking lot on the property and the metro stop outside the building are the only saving graces to living here. And the apartments are spacious. But the heating/A/C in the apartments are hotel unit shaped machines that are not meant to be used all the time. This building should be on a central heating and airing system. These units send our electric bills sky high. I will say, do NOT live here if you can avoid doing so. It might be nice the first few months, but then it's all downhill. Trust me when I say that. If Vista does answer this review, just keep in mind EVERYTHING I've stated before taking that chance. Yes it's close to 295 and the beltway but is it worth it? And what's sadder is that we can't afford to move anywhere else that is somewhere decent without spending a small fortune. read more

I have currently been living in the towers at the Wingate Apartments for 3 months. Originally I moved in here because I really liked the floor plans and the semi DC view I have from my top floor apartment. I knew up front that moving in here was going to be a unique experience BUT I figured making this commitment for a few short years to save money for a home is worth the sacrifice. PRO's: There are a few good things in my opinion about the apartment complex. * For one there is always a decent amount of parking. I usually park in the same area everyday and I have not had anyone tamper with my car. * Like previously mentioned, I really love the view of my apartment and the abundant space. It is hard to come by a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment in the city and I am one of the few who landed one for a price that allows me to save money. * The security guards are very nice and friendly. This place is ALWAYS secure... * If you are EVER interested in renting I strongly suggest that you ask for Cedric Lawson, Leasing Consultant. He is wonderful, polite, and insightful. Among all the Leasing Agents he is by far the best and will continue to have a decent and pleasant relationship with you far beyond your move in date. * I have not seen one bug (correction- I have not seen one bug in my unit) since I moved in here. With the exception of the spider that lives on my porch... he can stay tho :-) * The walls are pretty sound proof * The land is well manicured CON's: * Dont be fooled by the prices listed on line OR in the Apartment books. They are not accurate at all. Wingate will definitely charge you more than what they are advertising for. * Maintenance takes too long to fix minor problems. DO NOT buy into their schemes when you are told that the apartment complex has 24 hour maintenance. If maintenance is 24 hours it should NOT ever-- under any circumstance-- take longer than 12 hours (if that) to have someone turn off the chirping alarm systems in your apartment home. I went 2 weeks straight with this on-going noise and I was NOT happy to say the least * No internet/fitness center is available * They will charge you EVERYtime you request to use the fate elevator. Please inquire with them about this up front. (50$ fee per use) * The apartment landlords DO NOT regulate smoking inside the building. I have seen many people walking around inside with their cigarettes lit. This is definitely a violation of the health code. *People allow their dogs to leave their feces and urine inside the elevators and in the hall ways. They also leave garbage and trash on the floors in the hallways and inside the elevators. * When viewing the apartment request to see the back end of the building where the dumpster trash cans are located. It is important to see this for yourself and allow the smell and the visualization resonate with you before you sign the dotted line. Don't be fooled by the upgraded decor in the front of the building. Go see the back for yourself... * Pretty much the staff is not helpful at all. After you are a resident they have a tendency to be extremely rude. They are not helpful at all they hang up on you and "drop your calls" mistakenly (with the exception of Cedric Lawson who is awesome in my opinion) * Check your apartment for flaws and broken appliances prior to moving. It is well worth the additional time to have maintenance fix all the problems in the apartment before you move in. Ironically they are very quick to fix problems before hand... * It is very loud in the mornings. You can constantly hear the gate to the apartment ringing from people entering and exiting. In addition, they use the lawn mowers at 6:00am and they have the trash removed around that time frame also. * Make sure to get SOLID answers in writing about any questions or concerns. They will have you initial a 12 page document of rules and regulations (even though they don't follow a fraction of these rules on their end). * They hallways need to be cleaned more frequently and efficiently. They can reek of bad sour smells and its often embarrassing. * The level of professionalism in this apartment complex is horrible. I have never been in contact with leasing consultants who lack an adequate amount of insight about their jobs. In my honest opinion, they ALL need to take some serious training about the rules and regulations of this apartment complex and how to properly interact and respond to customers and potential clients. If you are selling a product its important to know the In's and out's of that product... train your people.
